  1. The coup de grace: Mabry pinch hits for Theriot. Will it work? Not likely.
  2. Calling for Coats to bunt = stupid, for at least two reasons.
  3. Would probably go for less than you'd think. The market is down. I would've thrown back a dummy, personally.
  4. He's been an average defensive third baseman this year.
  5. yea Ron thinks it's his shoulder He was hit in the head by the follow through of a swing earlier in the game.
  6. Funny how that works isn't it? Theriot could have hit 5 HR's yesterday and Baker still would play Bynum and Baily today. The front office incompetence is beyond frustrating. Hendry traded for Bynum in the offseason when he could have been had for nothing at all - the A's were going to cut him. But when Victor Diaz becomes available, the Rangers get him for a AA catcher who can't hit and is not projected to ever reach the majors.
  7. Why is Bynum starting over Theriot? Why is Bynum on the roster at all? He was not even in the top 20 Oakland prospects in 2005. So Hendry makes a trade for a C-level prospect in the offseason and Dusty sees fit to play him over a guy who's hotter than anyone else on the team?
  8. Mark Prior looked pretty good before he let his sideburns go.
  9. In all fairness to Neifi Perez, he has had an eleven year attempt at switch hitting that failed miserably and depressed his numbers significantly.
  10. ???? Len just said the Cubs haven't decided whether they'll call him up or not. Pierre and Jacque have to play everyday, you know, so where would Pie play?
  11. Question for all: Why is Barrett bunting?
  12. So the Rangers get Diaz for a 24-year-old AA catcher who's pretty much a non-prospect. But hey, we've got Freddie Bynum.
  13. Root against the Sox if you want to. Personally, I hope they win when they're not playing the Cubs. The success of the White Sox puts more pressure on Cubs management to improve the team.
  14. No, that would be entertainment.
  15. Dusty Baker's not the only manager who puts the blame elsewhere when the team isn't doing well.
  16. SEASON IP H BB SO SV BLSV ERA 2004 82.0 72 14 69 25 9 2.63 2006 62.2 63 32 54 24 7 4.45 If the "closer" position needed to be replaced in 2005, in needs to be replaced in 2007 as well.
  17. Please be a balk. Oh yeah.............good one Failed hidden ball trick. That would be classic.
  18. 4/27 .148/.179/.333 Last 7+ games. Barrett hasn't exactly been Johnny Bench lately. I can't get too upset w/ a sac bunt in the top of the 9th, when 1 run more than likely will win the ballgame. Except that, even if you want to focus on Barrett's numbers from the last few days, he's one of the best hitters in the NL this year. And he didn't necessarily need to get a hit to move the runners over. And a Barrett sac bunt almost guarantees an intentional walk to Murton.
  19. While it's justifiable to be upset with Cedeno, taking the bat out of the hands of Barrett and Murton is bad strategy. I'd rather have Barrett and Murton due up with runners at 1st and 2nd with no outs than Cedeno up with the bases loaded and 1 out.
  20. Which often happens after a sac bunt with runners at 1st and 2nd.
