  1. Carroll steals 2nd on Novoa, but Cubs are out of the inning.
  2. Rockies broadcast team obsessing over the size of Novoa's hands. These guys talk about every pitcher like he's Koufax and every hitter like he's Ted Williams. Ken Mercker wouldn't be calling the booth on these two. Non-critical announcers = Cubs win.
  3. 4-3. Pierre, like Ernie Banks, loves to play baseball and is a hard worker. He'd probably do better next year if he returns as a Cub because he's figuring out that he's not a home run hitter.
  4. I don't think that was a great spot for your best pinch hitter in Murton-I would have liked somebody else for Neifi, but I think that was not a spot to waste a good pinch hitter. Our best pinch hitter is Z, not Murton. If only we still had Macias...
  5. And Neifi - still one of the worst offensive players of all-time - hits a ground rule double. B/c it hopped over the fence, Ronny has to go back to 3rd. Neifi can't even do extra base hits right.
  6. Just looking at Jones' hit chart, it's interesting that most of his HR's at Wrigley have been oppo. Rockies announcers say they think Jones has struggled in Chicago because guys who have gap power suddenly think they're homerun hitters when they start playing games at Wrigley. Since when did Pierre even have gap power? Pierre has back of the infield power, maybe. Speaking of power, Neifi Perez is about to pinch hit. Neifi Perez, one of the worst offensive players in baseball history, is the first pinch hitter off the bench.
  7. He's worst on the Cubs in that area this year. Last year, however, he was pretty good at preventing inherited runs. He's just not as clutch this year.
  8. Jose Contreras just threw a 101-pitch CG for the Sox.
  9. Pagan fumbles the ball and the runner on 2nd scores easily on a single by Luis Gonzalez.
  10. Hill was tiring when he gave up the HR. He wasn't great tonight, but he wasn't as bad as the box score (or his ERA) will suggest.
  11. Isn't one of the rockies' announcers former Cub, George Frazier? I dunno. MLB.TV always starts the feed after the announcers introduce themselves. It's annoying.
  12. Michael Barrett doubles. Rockies announcers praise Barrett, and note that he would be a 5th or 6th hitter in a quality lineup.
  13. Come on, we all know that Aramis failed to deliver when Lee went down. Plus he doesn't hustle. Get rid of the bum and bring on David Bell. I think Hendry will go out and get Adam Kennedy (you can never have enough 2nd basemen) and move him to 3rd.
  14. Pagan scores on a single to center by John Mabry.
  15. Rockies announcers criticize Aramis for going on a hot streak when the Cubs are out of contention. Sigh. I miss Len and Bob.
  16. Contreras just lost the no-hitter with 2 outs in the 6th.
  17. Rockies just small-balled themselves out of the inning. Rich Hill thanks them.
  18. In what possible way? Pierre's love for the game and enthusiasm. He loves baseball just as much as Ernie Banks.
  19. So Dusty Baker isn't the only manager in baseball who calls for a sac bunt early in the game with a man on first and no outs.
  20. Just like the Brewers announcers, the Rockies broadcasters love Juan Pierre. Did they really just compare him to Ernie Banks? Yes, they did.
