  1. He got sick during the game on Monday night and was taken out. He was used as a pinch-hitter in last night's game and was used as a pinch-hitter today because there was a left-hander pitching. Miguel should be in the lineup tomorrow night.
  2. Brian has been making alot more contact as of late. The only thing missing right now is the power, something that will come when his foot gets stronger.
  3. I wish I had better news on that subject. The best thing I can tell you to do is go to the radio station's website (http://www.wnws.com). As of now (3:40 CDT), there is no streaming audio. There is a message near the top of the website that will tell listeners one way or the other if the streaming audio is available. Words cannot express the anger and frustration that I have over this touchy subject. I am truly sorry to all Jaxx fans outside our listening area.
  4. I was told before he left with the arm cramp, Guzzy's slider was the best it had been in quite a long time. The kid (and he is still a kid) is starting to look like the Angel Guzman I saw in 2003. If he stays healthy, this kid is going to be REALLY special.
  5. check the webite now... http://www.wnws.com They just reset the internet feed.. it should be working
  6. For those interested.. the internet feed is back among the living. Feel free to listen in to the game tonight against Montgomery. 7:05 CDT game time.
  7. the internet service is down yet again.. sorry kids..
  8. We could use him here in West Tenn.. lol
  9. Rain delay in Mobile. Baez will be pitching for the Diamond Jaxx. Mathes has a groin injury. He should be ready to pitch in his next turn in the rotation.
  10. Von and I occasionally chat (he was the hitting coach at West Tenn in my first three years as the broadcaster). He told me that Felix is still trying to adjust to the constant change-ups and other breaking balls being thrown to him. Everyone in the PCL knows the kid can destroy a fastball so they are now keeping Felix off balance by mixing in alot of breaking stuff. He's in the process of "getting it." I'm sure he'll be hitting .280 or better by the end of the season. As far as Hill goes, Rothschild has ZERO confidence in this guy and doesn't know how to handle him. The Cubs should be thanking God everyday that they have a major league caliber pitching coach in Alan Dunn, otherwise Hill, Guzzy and Jerome Williams would have been left for dead a long time ago. A.D. has cleaned up more Rothschild messes this year that it's leaving me to wonder why A.D. and Von aren't in the major leagues right now.
  11. Gallagher has topped out at 96 in his Double-A stint. His velocity isn't nearly as important as his ability to throw strikes. Up until has last start, he had been very inconsistent. Part of the reason why was because he looked like he didn't trust his stuff. In his last start, he looked like a seasoned veteran and his curveball (Uncle Charlie) looked more like Lord Charles. Campusano is someone that could be an effective reliever. He has a ton of movement on his pitches. I'm looking forward to seeing him throughout the second half of the season. Fox needs work defensively. He has four passed balls in his ten plus games behind the plate. Offensively even though the numbers aren't there, he is a legit player. I am quite positive that Jake will become a solid catcher.
  12. Rich is certainly deserving of the honor. Hopefully, he goes out and performs well.
  13. Kottaras has a cannon for an arm.. the Padres are really high on this kid.
  14. Mathes throws a sinking fastball, curve and change. He's one of those guys that eats up innings and quietly puts up solid numbers. He doesn't have a plus pitch per-say, but he has good location. When he is on, the opposing team will hit alot of groundballs. The biggest thing I think he needs to work on is limiting the number of hits he gives up per outing. He's giving up an average of over a hit per inning. That has to change for Mathes to reach his potential.
  15. I don't think he will be ready next year. He has alot of work to do at the plate and in the field before he becomes a big leaguer. Having said that, I think Eric has a ton of potential. I think he can be a solid second baseman defensively. I don't think he'll ever win a gold glove, but he can be a good defensive player. As far as his hitting goes, Eric could be a .280/.285 type hitter with 10-15 homers a year. not spectacular numbers but enough to have a solid major league career.
  16. Just an update... I just got done liestening to the station on the web and it sounds very clear.. hopefully, that trend will continue
  17. With all due repect to everyone's opinion, E-Patt is probably staying here for the rest of the season. This is just his second year in pro ball and he's not ready to make the jump to Triple-A. He still needs work on his hitting and fielding. Trust me, Eric will be a big part of the Cubs future.. but lets let the kid grow before throwing him into the fire.
  18. Hey gang, First and foremost, I want to thank ALL of you for listening in this season. As you all know, we have had some serious problems with the audio on our internet broadcasts in the last few weeks. I am happy to report that the radio station has fixed the internet problems in the last 24-36 hours. I ask you to listen in tomorrow night and e-mail me to let me know if the audio quality is back to normal. Thank you again for listening in to the Diamond Jaxx broadcasts and I sincerely hope that the audio quality will be clear for the remainder of the season. Ron Potesta West Tenn Broadcaster
  19. Smokies re-take the lead on solo homers by Alberto Gonzalez and Miguel Montero.
  20. He's not able to generate any power on that bad foot. I'm hoping that he can get it going soon. Jaxx tie it at two on a RBI single by Rojas in the 5th inning.
  21. Smokies lead 2-1 thru four innings in game one of the twin-bill
  22. Mateo gives up a run.. deadlocked at one thru one
  23. Smokies load the bases with nobody out in the home half of the first...
  24. Jaxx take an early 1-0 lead on a Dopirak single in the first
  25. Game one of the doubleheader won't be broadcast.. we will be on the air for the nightcap.. and the beat goes on....
