  1. His arm definitely isn't. His arm is as good as Pierre or Hairston. And his balls out into the wall defense strongly makeup for his lack of arm power. You can't have everything!! Unless of course, you're Lee :) His arm isn't nearly as good as Hairston's, and that isn't to say Hairston even has an average arm. Regardless, Pie will be in Wrigley soon. I suspect they are targeting next year now, unless Corey comes around. Giving big money to a "speed" guy on the wrong side of 30 or 4-5 years without any semblence of an arm when the only close OFers in the system worth a darn play the same position would be silly. Then, please tell me you're solution to our struggling outfield, if I may inquire? Also, would be nice to incorporate a leadoff batter as well. I'm all for Walker taking the leadoff spot if need be, but who hits 2nd? Bringing Pie up too soon sounds like a major risk to me - havent we learned from that nonsense already?
  2. What a great article by Miles - there wasnt a single thing in that column I didnt agree with. And the dig at Morgan - FANTASTIC!!! Keep up the good work, Bruce. You are thought of very highly on here!! :)

  4. I'd pick up Damon in a hearbeat - I'd much rather have him than Pierre, Dunn, etc..... Give him 2 years, maybe 3 tops.....and then go from there. And I would not be the least shy of giving him big $ either - he earns it. And his defensive skills are ridiculously stellar.
  5. Please no Willy Mo - that would be a major downgrade
  6. I think the bottom line is that either 1. Hendry doesnt want to run the risk of another "dontrelle" type deal - thus he's gonna be overly-cautious 2. He's attempting to increase the value of Hill 3. Dunn's BA, K's, and shawdy defense dont interest him It's obvious Dunn isn't on the Cubs radar at all. And although Kearns may be, I'll bet we refuse to give up what they'd want in return.
  7. Dunn is a great bat - and I'd absolutely love to have him in the lineup. But he is way overpriced - I'm not too sure what would be a reasonable return for him. I'd much rather take my chances on Kearns and give up alot less.....they're looking to sell.....so its not like they can neccessarily afford to keep all these guys. Their team isnt that great, definitely isnt contending for anything this year....and the pitching stinks.
  8. found this posted on the redszone... "Heres Rich Hills stats for the year... *He started in Triple-A and is now in Class A* Triple-A 3.28 ERA, 57.2 Innings, 42 Hits, 21 Earned Runs, 9 Homeruns, 21 Walks, 90 Strike outs. Double-A 4.53 ERA, 43.2 Innings, 35 Hits, 22 Earned Runs, 11 Homeruns, 11 Walks, 62 Strike outs Major Leagues - Cubs 4.76 ERA, 5.2 Innings, 3 Hits, 3 Earned Runs, 3 Walks, 3 Strike outs. Class A 1.13 ERA, 8 Innings, 5 Hits, 1 Earned Run, 12 Strike outs The thing I dont get is how do you start out in Triple-A then go to Double-A then to the Cubs then get sent down to Class A ball? Also hes given up 20 homeruns in a little over 100 innings in the minors." It's amazing how they get the facts screwed up over there..... and another interesting viewpoint... "Rich Hill is not that good, he's NOT. Please, when will people get this. If Hal thinks he is the best prospect in baseball, you have to ask yourself, what the heck does Hal know about prospects?"
  9. I wouldn't be worried; I think he'd turn into another Ramirez in Chicago. thats what i think too.....with fan support.....i think hed really turn it on....
  10. I like the idea of getting kearns better than Dunn.......we'd be giving up alot less....and thus far, weve had excellent luck in these tyrpes of trade scenarios. Damon in the offseason would be too good to be true :)
  11. I'm sorry - but I just don't plain understand any theories to getting rid of Todd Walker - he has been a key guy in getting things done for us this year - and his defense is excellent.
  12. http://www.cleveland.com/sports/plaindealer/roger_brown/index.ssf?/base/sports/1121592709184551.xml&coll=2 This isn't where I read it though....but found this searching for it......
  13. it was me who reported hearing the CC for Dunn trade....let me fish around and I'll tell you where it came from.....What I heard was that Cinci offered Dunn for CC and that Cleveland turned the trade down. This was around the first/middle of last week. I think it was on rotowire, but I'll look around and find out for sure.... and it was Sabathia and Davis for Dunn....
  14. I believe that part of Rusch's struggles are due to being used in the pen. He seems to do much better as a starter than as a reliever. Maybe so - but Rusch's final 3 starts before getting moved to the pen were not very spectacular either....
  15. Rusch apparently definitely isnt the answer as of lately to replace Woody in the rotation, if need be. Rusch has been getting rocked since June 12.
  16. Yeah this needs some explanation. I don't think we need any explanation. Why not? I followed this thread all day long - apparently there was some vailidity to what he/she was saying.....so where is the fault? Please excuse me if I missed something....
  17. What did Sweet Emotion do that warranted getting banned aside from starting this thread? What did I miss? I've followed this thread all day....word for word....
  18. If that is indeed the case, then it makes this rumor even more confusing.... Did the Cubs or the Reds deny this trade?
  19. That's kinda what I was thinking too......but apparently, Miles always gives the facts on here....
  20. if the media writer busted the trade before it happened, it COULD be detrimental to the existing trade offer, correct? Especially in a scenario of one of the most talked about players before the deadline.
  21. Is there any remote possiblity that GM's, media writer's, etc are forced to downplay trades in progress in an attempt to keep other teams from outbidding the offer at the last minute? To ensure that the deal goes through....
  22. Tonights game was the game Hendry was attending. He doesnt attend every game. I believe I heard Kasper talking about Hendry being at the game Wednesday over the past weekend. I might have also heard Hendry talking about being there Wednesday on the Score earlier this week too.
  23. someone in the "game thread" reported hearing on LA radio something to the effect that Dunn was possibly going to the Dodgers - which would also stand to reason why they brought Kearns up.
