  1. Dude Sabo was awesome. Don't knock him. That used to be my nickname when I was a kid because I wore those sports glasses as well. 8)
  2. What a cruel, cruel world. :(
  3. Awww crap. Just when things were looking up. That's what kills me. Just when I really thought he was going to pitch in a ST game. Just when Wood and Prior were on a good track. Just when I'd started to hope again. @#$.
  4. Oh please jebus no.... :( But Barrett said just yesterday according to cubs.com Oh man. Oh man. Oh man. :-#
  5. How come we couldn't ever get decent major leaguers who could consistantly hit .300 for minor league pitching when that was all we had to offer a few years ago? Too reluctant to trade the pitching. Now most of that pitching has been injured and/or didn't pan out. I blame the scouting dept who hasn't been able to help Hendry recognize when to make a trade or not. The Cubs haven't traded a minor leaguer at their peak value yet. Sanchez? Beltran? Choi?
  6. Ohman is terrific. He could be a brilliant set-up man in the future.
  7. Wow. I'd be surprised if Pagan doesn't make the team at this rate. I hope he can play like this all year.
  8. I thought that was pretty neat. Well done. Brought back some old memories...
  9. We're getting stock quotes now? Is there anything you can't do Fred? What's next? Currency exchanges rates?
  10. doing the girlfriend does not equal whipped! doing the the girlfriend thing =/= doing the girlfriend The 'thing' is the key word there.
  11. Glad to hear that Jerome never has a big ST. Makes me feel better about his upcoming walks. Conversely, Jones is always a very hot starter for ST and the season, so I would expect big things out of him today.
  12. This seems to make much more sense. But what would we get for him?
  13. I like Pie's speed and power, but I'll wait until his BB/K rate improves before getting too excited about him.
  14. Bob Brenly was talking about how in that situation, Walker is supposed to leave for home plate as soon as the first baseman has the ball and is occupied with the runner in the run-down, and it appeared he left just a bit late. I've always wondered why managers never used the double steal like that on purpose, one guy moving to second, catcher throws to 2B to get him, runner on 3rd already headed home.
  15. Uh....wasn't that him and Pie who almost collided? Twice?
  16. I think the only people that have to worry about pitching themselves off the roster are Koronka and Welleymeyer.
  17. Shhh...I think they're gonna have Griffey's kid pitch.
  18. I think Hairston will start for a number of reasons: 1) Walker's mouth 2) Walker wasn't fast enough to score from third yesterday when Cedeno was caught in a rundown between first and second. Hairston would be. 3) Hairston is hitting very well. 4) Hendry's remark:
  19. First baseman A: .357/.438/1.071 with 3 homeruns and a double in 4 games and only 14 ABs. First baseman B: .000/.000/.000 with no homeruns, no doubles, in 2 games. Which one should you play? Hmmm.......
