  1. This could be rough for him. The curve doesn't work as well in the high altitude.
  2. Yeah he should, but for some reason he is way more valuable as a hitter when he leads off. His career numbers show this. I don't know why, but they do.
  3. Bad pickoff throws? Leadoff single? I prefer leadoff homers. I prefer 6/14 in leadoff spot. I prefer .500 OBP over .336 OBP in the leadoff spot. I prefer someone who can take walks over someone who strikes out 3x more. I prefer people who know what they're talking about over people who don't. Ever heard of a sample size? Yeah I would much rather have had Jason Kendall than Sosa in the early 00's you know cause Kendall never K'd Eat a bag. Ever heard of learn baseball? 18 HR good for him. Theriot: 353 AB - 34 SO - 36 BB - .352 OBP Soriano: 444 AB - 95 SO 0 24 BB - .336 OBP Now who should eat a bag? Soriano should bat 5th, learn baseball, take notes from your terrible t-ball team then come back to post. The fact is we paid him all that money to leadoff. He is going to leadoff. Soriano in two years will still be hitting leadoff. Theriot might, might still be in baseball. Might. Actually, the Cubs paid Soriano all that money to be a productive hitter, regardless of where he hits. Based on the type of hitter he is, he is best suited to be a #5 type hitter, whereas Theriot's skillset (solid OBP and not much power) make more sense in the leadoff spot. Question: would you rather have a solo homer or a 2 or 3 run homer? Now, where should Soriano and Theriot hit? I know, but this is the Cubs. We don't deal in ideal. We paid him that money and promised him he would hit leadoff. In a perfect world Nomar would still be our SS, but we are the cubs, so that didn't happen. We have bigger problems on this team that should be addressed before we worry about Soriano leading off.

I was insulted first, get off my back and go cry to a mod. No you insulted me first with your learn baseball stuff. Either way I don't care, I can handle it.
  5. That maybe, but it doesn't change the fact that in two years Theriot will be serving us french fries.

  9. Miguel Cabrera has a shot if he doesn't eat himself out of it. Especially once he leaves Florida.
  10. why would they do that right before they make the playoffs again?
  11. I am betting there are some AA lineups better than that one.
  12. Rmiarez sure is earning his money.
  13. I love how our best players always need days off, yet the teams we play their big guns are always in the lineup.
  14. Barry's been on base 550 more times in 1400 less PAs. i'll take extra bases over walks you're also taking a hell of a lot of outs, which is why you're wrong here. i'm talking about a gifted athlete getting to 2nd and 3rd more often rather than a guy with no knees who is slower than cliff floyd walking to first in hopes that ray durham knocks him in Barry ran better than Aaron for most of his career. yes, but not in the career OPS skewing 250 walk seasons where people gave up the baserunner because the next leading run producers were Marquis Grissom and Deivi Cruz. Not making outs isn't useful when your team sucks so bad as to not every drive you in not true. Bill James ran a simulation putting Babe Ruth into a lineup with the worst hitters ever surrounding him. The team scored a significant amount of runs more when they walked Ruth everytime. Face it walks are very valueable no matter who bats around them.
  15. Yeah, that's not really natural. I don't think Clemens would still be playing if there was a test for HGH. But, Clemens is a media darling, thus he gets none of the slack Bonds has.
  16. Barry's been on base 550 more times in 1400 less PAs. i'll take extra bases over walks Dusty?
  17. I think it is interesting to note when the all century team was voted on Maddux was selected higher than Clemens. Then at age 40 plus Clemens got a whole lot better. Can we see his head shots from the past to now?
  18. We really need Lee to step it up right now with Soriano out. What with him being our best player.
  19. Corey Hart would be our best player. How utterly pathetic.
