  1. This is so flawed an argument everyone is having. Only the Cardinals can win 83 games and win a World Series. We aren't, nor have we ever been that kind of lucky.
  2. I love these pictures, but to be fair, when Jordan was at LeBron's career juncture, he was still flipping out after big shots. (The Shot in 89 comes to mind.) It wasn't until he reached the "I'm Michael Effing Jordan and I Know I'm Making This" in the early 1990s that he stopped celebrating and started just being a badass. Jordan's the shot also won the series. It was also his first playoff series win. Lebron has been to the finals before.
  3. Please we all know that time is coming. As soon as Robbie Humell goes pro it's all over.
  4. We should throw the Dodgers out the window though, because in no way is 84 games winning this division.
  5. Yeah, but the Phillies only lost 6 in a row, maybe we just threw away the season by losing today. In all seriousness though, these things happen. There's nothing drastic that can or should be done right now. It's times like this I wish I still lived in Peoria so I could just go watch the Chiefs tomorrow and forget about the Cubs.
  6. You know we are done. Quit being reasonable.
  7. I would say Aramis probably should be on their list as we look like a AA team without him.
  8. i think this is the question of the year and the moment his head, and others, really should be on the block and prepared to roll down the stairs when ownership changes The point is when or if this team can get healthy and play to their abilities its superior to every other team in the NL Central. I don't think you can blame him for all the injuries. This offseason should have got him canned. Miles signed right away for two years at more than Orlando Hudson. Signing Aaron Heilman. Trading Mark DeRosa to allow Mike Fontenot to play everyday. Joey Gathright. Trading a prospect for Kevin Gregg.
  9. But he grew aup a Cub fan. Just like LaTroy.
  10. I fully expect Jim to sit around and not do anything. Nice offseason buddy. It isn't easy to dismantle a 97 win team in one season, but you managed it.
  11. I don't think he is going to be. He's halfway to the dreaded 1,000 games for a big man. Yes he is a big man I don't care what position he plays. I imagine he peaks the next couple years and falls off quickly. i think he'll age like karl malone. he's a genetic freak, anyway, and it's not like he doesn't take care of his body i just wish he did more of his work in the post, he would have already shaved off some miles Even if he does that I don't think he has the post game you need to still be an elite player. Or at least if he has it he has yet to really show it.
  12. That sounds about right. Dustin has two titles(was he up in '04?) and an undeserved MVP. Of course he's better than Miggy. I wonder if Detroit would even hear that whole offer out on a trade or if they would hang up laughing?

I imagine he peaks the next couple years and falls off quickly. You really think LeBron is going to be a non factor in a couple years? Did I say non factor? I think he ages like most guys that size. Still a good player, but not blowing by Jordan like everyone thinks. The thing is he can't slip even a bit if he wants to surpass Jordan.

  15. As opposed to the teams that look pumped and excited during a losing streak? Theyneever made it past AA with Brooks Kieschnick.
  16. Come on, hes better than Alex Gonzalez. Yeah I'm not too fond of him either. So you only like players that have never done well against the Cubs? Not all of them have hits who wiped away a world series appearance.
  17. That ought to get our offense going. It couldn't hurt anything. He's hit 5 HRs in 4 games. They need to do something. It's the same thing with Pujols. Maybe if somebody would knock him down every now and then he might stop killing us. Maybe a good bench clearing situation would wake em up. At least we would know they care. How many injuries would we end up with in the process? Probably none. You haven't been watching much this year huh?

  19. Did his bat just slow down? I mean what's the deal with him? I think he was on the juice myself. I think the wrist injury combined with his age is a better answer than any nebulous "he was on steroids" reason plus tall, rangy guys like him don't tend to age that well because they have a longer swing and their loss of bat speed hurts them more than it does a shorter guy with a more compact swing. they probably shouldn't have given him 5 years, $65M after that one great season. He sucks. To me he will always be the guy who crushed me in '03.
