    Sadly Kerry Wood's year has not been anything to write home about, so I don't see how you can guarantee different results. Getting rid of Kerry Wood for financial reasons did not mean he had to trade for another multi million dollar reliever with a significantly worse track record. I hated losing Wood, but I understood the financial motivation, what I don't understand is then turning around and wasting a ton of cash on Gregg, just like trying to trade DeRosa at a high and then wasting the financial benefit on a guy like Miles. Because Jim Hendry sucks. We could have had Dunn and Hudson.

    You're surprised? I'd have been surprised if Francouer didn't homer there. I guess I'm trying to be a little more optimistic than that... I've tried. But getting kicked in the nuts for 6 months per year for the last 20+ years tends to kill any optimism. I like the Cubs just as much as the next guy (see tattoo on right leg) but EXPECTING opposing players to hit home runs isn't really appealing to me. I agree, but sadly when you have a closer as awful as Gregg and you fall behind a guy who is only trying to jack one, that's usually what you get.

    The last inning pretty much summed up being a Cubs fan. It will be capped off this half inning.

    no, we can pretty much chalk it up solely to the pen. Yeah they screwed the pooch, but come on Lee doesn't catch the Theiot lollipop. Soto continues to blow.

    Just so you know we wouldnt be in the lead had Lee not had an RBI double and HR. Not only that, it isn't Derrek's fault his shorstop can't throw the ball across the infield.

    Can't ever make it easy. I really wish Lou would play Blanco at Short and Ryan at 2B.

    The Cardinals are playing exactly to their pythag. And I think they have had a lot of overachieving that wont hold up.

    They haven't been playing very well recently. The Brewers are 10 games over .500. They aren't as good as their record indicates, that's all I meant.

    Anyday now the Brewers and Cardinals will remember that they aren't as good as they have been playing.
