    If I could get to 3 days/13.whatever hour-shifts I would do it in a heartbeat. Sounds like you get to avoid the traffic hours too. Although I suspect in DC you ride the Metro or whatever it's called. Nah, there's no traffic either way, luckily. My commute ends up being only about half an hour. Living in Northern, VA?

    I don't want to give up Baez in this trade, either, mind you...but you think Tyson Ross is an "average end of the rotation pitcher?" what kind of control would we have over Ross? What's his contract like? I honestly don't know. And I'm on my phone at a boring law conference, so I don't want to screw around on Google trying to find out. I'm sure you know, so tell me. Years of cheap control over Baez isn't something I want to give up lightly.

    I'm not arguing that we shouldn't at least try to improve this season by adding a few pieces. I just don't want to give up Baez unless we get someone with equal potential and control. Baez might be a bust but he might also be a future All-Star 2B who hits 30 HR a year. Would hate to give up the possibility of years of that for an average end of the rotation pitcher.

    That lineup (minus Baez) is striking fear in no one at present That's my whole point. I want to see what it would be like if they are all clicking at the same time, maybe a year or two from now. This year they aren't all clicking for a variety of issues.

    I don't understand how this keeps being said. The Cubs are already 2/3 of the way through a race for the playoffs and very much in contention. i don't think he realizes that being "equipped for a playoff run" means having a playoff berth. No I get it. I don't think we are going to make the playoffs and even if we do, I don't feel this team would be successful in the playoffs.

    DO NOT TRADE BAEZ. He needs another look in the bigs. His swing adjustments appear to have made a critical difference. I want a dynasty made up of ALL our badass young hitters. I want to the chance to see KB, Rizz, Soler, Russell, Schwarber, AND Baez all mashing at the same time and to see how terrifying that would be for opposing pitchers. A fifth starter can surely be found without giving up one of our young studs, especially in a year where we aren't equipped for a playoff run anyways. If we were vying for the division, perhaps I would be reacting differently. Hopefully Theo is really drilling in on a "Castro just needs a change of scenery" strategy.

    Please please please don't deal Baez A) In a year we don't really have a shot, and B) before he gets another chance at the bigs. I would be sick to my stomach if we traded him for a 5th starter and then I look up in a year or two and he is cracking 30hr a year from second base for someone else.
