    Peoria won 7-5. Iowa up 7-6 in the 8th. Walrond: 5 IP, 8 hits, 6 runs (5 earned), 4 K's/2 BB's. Cherry has pitched two shutout innings of relief allowing only 1 hit, 2 BB's, and has struck out 4. EPatt now 3/5 on the night.

    in a more serious attempt to answer the question, I'm going to guess that it's because Cedeno has joined the team, and he's the best-fielding SS, so Fontenot has been shifted to 2B and Patterson to LF. I'd prefer to see Fontenot into the OF so Patterson can continue to work on his defense, but whatever. They're the ones that haven't won a World Series for 100 years, so I'll trust they know what they're doing. Thanks, it didn't make much sense to me when I saw it. Has Fontenot pretty much been determined to not be a viable SS option at the ML level? Would he and Theriot up the middle in either order be that bad if they both hit well? I'm with you Truffle, the lack of direction and potential knee jerk reactions it looks like may be in the works really bother me. This is a very stupid organization. You take out the future 2B of the Cubs and put him in LF? Truffle's reasoning makes a lot of sense; the logic behind it (from the Cubs point, not Truffle's) certainly does not. It's no secret that Patterson's fielding needs improvement. Moving him to LF truly does make no sense.

    Daytona lost 7-4. Bad outing for Estrada tonight: 4.2 IP, 8 hits, 7 runs, 1 K/2 BB's, 1 HR given up. Colvin was 1/4 with 2 RBI's. Nate Spears was also 1/4 with a double and 2 RBI's. Peoria up 7-4 in the bottom of the 7th. Pina's line: 5 IP, 7 hits, 3 runs, 1 K/1 BB, 3 HR's given up (ouch). Yusuf hit his 5th HR of the season, a 2-run shot. Mota has two doubles and an RBI. Wellington Castillo, Alfred Joseph, and James Adduci are each 2/3. Iowa up 6-3 in the bottom of the 5th. As mentioned, EPatt hit a 3-run shot in the 4th. He also has a single raising his BA to .331. Felix is 1/2 with a BB. Fontenot is 0/1 with an RBI and a BB. Cedeno is 1/3 with an RBI. Jason Jennings was rehabbing for Round Rock and struggled: 3.1 IP, 3 hits, 4 ER's, 2 K's/5 BB's.

    Tennessee holds on to win 4-3. Mississippi scored a run in the 9th, Geoffrey Jones first allowed ER this season, but that was it. Peoria lost in 11, 5-3. Lansing scored twice in the top of the 11th off of Oscar Bernard.

    Iowa loses 5-1. Peoria has come back to tie the game at 3 on an RBI single by Lansford. Peoria is now batting in the bottom of the 9th. Tennessee still leads 4-2, now in the 9th.

Tennessee up 4-2 in the 8th. Solid start for Gallagher tonight: 5 IP, 4 hits, 2 runs, 1 K/3 BB's. Salas had a 3-run HR and Kroeger had a solo shot to account for the Smokies' runs. Iowa down 5-1 in the 9th. Miller: 6 IP, 6 hits, 4 runs, 3 K's/3 BB's. Soto and Hoffpauir have doubles and Cedeno and Pie have singles. That's been all of the offense for the I-Cubs tonight.
