  1. If the real Chicago Cubs can get seven walks per game, I suspect they're going to win a lot of games. As long as they can drive in some runs with those guys on base, then sure.
  2. Maybe Lou learned from his mistake tonight and he'll realize that Jason Marquis blows. Maybe he'll do the same thing with Kevin Hart and Michael Wuertz too. Yeah, I laughed too.
  3. We should call a walk that drives in a run "The Michael Wuertz Special."
  4. Can any of these crap pitchers in our bullpen throw strikes? What a joke.
  5. Thanks Marquis. Just give the lead right back, why don't you.
  6. Are Cowan and Olsen made out of glass? It seems like they're always hurt. Sorry about that, Raisin.
  7. Freel is hitting 292/327/354 and is sitting so Corey Patterson 213/281/475 can start. Gotta love some Dusty. So Patterson has a better OPS, and is a far better baserunner and defender. Keep. Reaching. They both blow.
  8. Good. Yost's stupidity is good for us. Yeah, until Sheets completely shuts us down today. At least the weather conditions should help Marquis out. He needs all the help that he can get.
  9. Yeah, I'm wondering this too. I went to a Peoria game when he was rehabbing last year and he looked decent. What the heck has happened to him in the last 8 months?
  10. Anyone watching the Lakers-Nuggets game? It's a glorified pickup game. No team is really trying, the refs are asleep, and it's just all-around bad basketball. Embarrassing.
  11. It was, but Encarnacion made up for it with two absolutely ridiculous plays. Cardinals lose and the Cubs put a half game between them and the Cards. Defensive plays? Yeah.
  12. Wrigley would draw at least 35,000 in this weather. Awesome?
  13. It was, but Encarnacion made up for it with two absolutely ridiculous plays. Cardinals lose and the Cubs put a half game between them and the Cards.
  14. Just curious...why? Magic over the Raptors in 5. At least I got that right. Hawks up by 5 with 5 minutes left.
  15. Is that really his name? If so...awesome.
  16. Laura gave me the go-ahead to start this if Mizzou didn't make the thread by noon. Pitching matchup: http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/images/gameday/mugshots/mlb/282656.jpg Ben Sheets: 3-0, 0.96 ERA, 28 IP, 14 hits, 24 K's/4 BB's http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/images/gameday/mugshots/mlb/150302.jpg Jason Marquis: 1-0, 3.47 ERA, 23.1 IP, 26 hits, 15 K's/9 BB's After losing 2 of 3 to the worst team in the National League, the Cubs set their sights on the Milwaukee Brewers. The Brewers come into this series after losing 2 of 3 at home to the Marlins. But the Brewers have something going for them. They have a good pitcher pitching tomorrow while the Cubs really don't. Rich Hill's spot in the rotation is getting skipped as Piniella believes that it's a guaranteed loss if the Cubs throw a lefty against the Brewers; never mind that it is April and that Hill is by far the superior pitcher between him and Marquis. Don't forget, Sheets' first start of the year was where he and Zambrano dueled on Opening Day as he held the Cubs to two hits in 6 1/3 innings pitched. Just don't lose, you stupid idiots.
  17. I like Bess a lot. I was pretty surprised to see none of the Hawaii WR's drafted over the weekend.
  18. The Vikings undrafted rookie class isn't too shabby: Marcus Griffin - S, Texas Erin Henderson - LB, Maryland J Leman - LB, Illinois Albert Young - RB, Iowa Drew Radovich - T, USC Marcus Walker - CB, Oklahoma Kyle Wright - QB, Miami Tim Mattran - C, Stanford
  19. Hmm, I thought Philadelphia had one of the better drafts in the league. Arizona had a decent draft as well. Of course, all of this really doesn't matter as giving out draft grades when none of these guys have played a snap in the NFL is completely mindless. Let's give it 2-3 years before we start handing out grades for this draft class.
  20. tell me about this guy, and his needed breaks... Smart, accurate QB. His decision making was awesome last year as his TD/INT ratio was off the hook. Completed nearly 72% of his passes. Not the best arm in the world, but he'll get the job done. I know the Bears really liked him a lot and they were all over him almost the entire offseason.
  21. Bears just signed SIU QB Nick Hill for 3 years at around $1.3 million. Awesome for Nick. A couple breaks to go his way and he might even be playing this year :)
  22. Matt Flynn for your 2nd round pick next year? Or Matt Flynn for your 2010 1st rounder. Sounds like a plan.
  23. Why? We had ONE quarterback on the roster (Rodgers) before the draft. I just think they're going to try to bring someone in with experience to pair with Rodgers and one of the rookies. If your QB situation is Rodgers and only Flynn or Brohm who will be learning on the job, you're in a tenuous situation at best. Agreed. We had Daunte Culpepper in Green Bay for a visit this past week. I wouldn't be surprised if we signed him soon. But if we don't sign him, that's where the Flynn pick makes sense.
