Iowa swept the doubleheader as they won game one 3-0 and they won game two 3-2. Berg only pitched three innings and allowed three hits, two runs, 1 K/2 BB's. Cotts pitched an inning and a third of scoreless ball. Josh Kroeger had a two-run homer. Murton actually had an XBH as he went 1/3 with a double and EPatt was 1/3 with a walk and an RBI. Peoria was beat up 12-4. Terrible line for Ashwood: 2 2/3's IP, 8 hits, 10 runs, 8 ER, 1 K/4 BB's, and FOUR homers allowed. Peoria's offense pounded out 13 hits, but only had four runs to show for it. Donaldson was 2/5. -
After how bad we looked against them in both the regular season and the playoffs last year? I thought 2 out of 3 would be a big feat. Great series. Really impressed me this weekend.

Well, usually teams avoid PR with a pitcher because they don't want him to get injured so he can continue to pitch. I'm not sure that's what the Cubs see in Marquis, however. I wouldn't mind it if he pulled a hammy.

Considering we have a ton of question marks in our rotation, that's not a bad idea at all. it becomes a bad idea when you don't have a shut-down arm in the bullpen I'll take my chances with Marmol going six innings every 5th day. Yeah you lose a shut-down arm in the pen, but you gain a much more explosive arm in the rotation; something we desparately lack as of right now. That being said, there's no way Lou has even considered that (or will consider that) for this season.
