Oh, I don't dislike the Lakers at all anymore. I won't have any problem rooting for them next June if they play the Heat.

I agree that he didn't win a championship, but he led them to the first Finals appearance in the history of the franchise. He gave them respectability over a prolonged period, something Cleveland hasn't had before. He gave them national media attention. Sure, they didn't win a title but they were able to raise themselves from "Perennial NBA Doormats" to "Eastern Conference Title Contenders" with him there. I don't think they'll win the East for a while now, but they might be able to still hang onto that respectability and maybe be able to develop some good talent in LeBron's wake. They do have quite a bit of cap room to go out and maybe sign someone or pull off a trade. All is not lost in Cleveland. Do you think people there care about how good the Indians were in the mid-late 90's? They won a pennant but they ultimately didn't win a title. Of course we have the Cubs, but basically everyone on here has been part of at least one championship celebration in their life. Cleveland has never had that. Their one true shot of winning a title anytime soon hit them in their junk and threw up a peace sign on national television to that whole city.

I doubt you'd be saying "it is what it is" if the Bulls lost Michael Jordan in the summer of 1990. Well, he is right, though. I'm not saying that I don't understand the hurt and disappointment in Cleveland. I do. I'd probably be upset if the best player my franchise has ever had left in his prime before ever bringing a championship. However, it's the nature of sports. Jerry Seinfeld was right: Players move so much that you're essentially not rooting for teams, you're rooting for laundry. He left a ton of money on the table to go to Miami, so this isn't about greed. It's about the desire to win, to reach the very pinnacle of your chosen profession. If I were a Cavs fan I certainly would not be happy at all, but I wouldn't be one of the idiots burning his jersey in the streets. How do you feel about Brett Favre? Not happy about it, and I'll admit that I was mad when he went to Minnesota, and I won't root for him in the evil purple colors, but when he went to the Jets I at least wished him well. I didn't burn any of my Brett Favre stuff, though. I don't expect Cavs fans to root for him in Miami, but just because he left I don't think his time in Cleveland should be discounted. I fully understand that Brett Favre was a key reason the Packers came back to respectability after being terrible for most of the 70's and 80's, just like LeBron brought respectability to a franchise that never really had much of it. And Brett had brought a championship to Green Bay and wasn't in his prime. Also, football isn't as much of an individual sport as basketball is. Again, he didn't win a damn thing in Cleveland. His time in Cleveland won't end up mattering at all. Favre at least led us to a Super Bowl. LeBron didn't win anything in a city that hasn't won anything in generations.

They still did nothing when he was there. They didn't win a championship and didn't win a single Finals game. He did quit during Game 6 of the Magic series last year and I don't think there was any question that he quit during the end of the Celtics series this season. I'm glad somebody didn't hold back, although that wasn't a very good way of going about doing it. His personal guarantee is a joke because what happens when LeBron finally does win a title? Is he going to sell the team? If you're going to guarantee something, you better be sure that you can back that up. And it's Cleveland without LeBron. You were never going to get high-profile FA's to come there anyway.

So again, he needs to get good teammates, but they can't be too good. It's an absurd argument. most of the greats would enjoy beating the best instead of joining them I'm sure he'll enjoy beating Kobe Bryant in the next Final. Good luck.

Nobody should be criticizing Bulls management for any of this. There was nothing we could have done.

James could have joined a team of Horace Grant, Paxson, Wennington and B.J. Armstrong coming out of retirement at their ages, with no bench, then led them to 7 consecutive titles while averaging 50 points a game, and people would still find an excuse to say he doesn't belong on Jordan's level. Yeah, because that's exactly what I'm saying.

Riley didn't have anything to do with it. It was former Olympic teammates making a pact to play together 2 years ago. He had to make it possible for it to happen, and keep Wade in Miami. Wade was staying all along. If you read everything between the lines, I think it's obvious that they decided on this a couple of years ago.

So again, he needs to get good teammates, but they can't be too good. It's an absurd argument. The even more absurd part is that he's not allowed to team up with a guy like Wade, because that would tarnish his attempt to get on the same level as Jordan or Magic Johnson, neither of whom ever won a title without another HOFer in their major contributing years. It definitely tarnishes his ability to get on the same level as MJ. I don't see how it doesn't. MJ or Magic never admitted defeat seven years in the league to bolt ship in their prime to join another top three player in the league.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat. Everyone would've laughed at LeBron for going to a terrible team like the Knicks or the Clippers(although they would've been pretty good with LeBron), but when he goes to the best possible team he's a coward for not trying to do it on his own. Apparently he needs to go to a good team, but not too good a team. Anyways, my big problems are with the Heat gaming the system to do this, LeBron's handling of the process, and the fact that I like the Heat the least out of LeBron's suitors. If he truly is what he says he is, Miami is the worst situation for him. He's basically admitting that at age 25, he couldn't win a title by being the guy. For some crazy reason, I was criticized for saying it was Wade's team yesterday. I give credit to LeBron for one thing and that is the fact that he's taking less money in order to try to win multiple titles. But with the way he thinks of himself and the way he played to fans makes me believe that he has absolutely no idea how this whole ordeal is going to unfold in front of him. I hope this fails miserably. They're going to get ridiculed by everybody if they don't win the title next year. The pressure on them the following years would reach an extraordinary level. Go Lakers.

And he'll always have one less ring than D-Wade. Nothing like being the second option on your own team for being a guy that wants to be the best player ever. Always? Lebron is what, 3 years younger? Unless he wins one by being the main option of a team when he's 35, he'd remain behind Wade on the legacy totem pole. So if LeBron signs with Miami, he's going to be the "second option"? What does that mean to you, exactly? He's playing in Wade's town. "Wade County" and all of that stupid [expletive] doesn't mean anything to you? I don't know, I just have a hard time seeing LeBron going to a place where he wouldn't be "the man."
