  1. This is an interesting point that I think makes a lot of sense. Be kinda like the Pete Carroll situation in Seattle. A lot of former Calipari coached players around the league. And he has recruited a lot more. If no Lebron, worse case scenario, he does a sale job to other FAs and Derrick Rose gets to play for him again.
  2. LOL. If I indulge you and act like this is even close to being true, it wouldn't be a drastic change. A "worse" Lebron would still be the 3rd best player in the league.
  3. espn stats says 2 in 5 games. Just went thru the boxscores. It is. The Cubs have turned DPs in all but 1 game he has been up, but he was not involved in 3 of them.
  4. How many double plays has Castro turned? Seems like he has at least 1 in every game.
  5. Reminds me of a caller a few weeks back that was talking about how he didn't like/want Lebron because he's too immature. MICHAEL WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN IMMATURE SOUTHSIDERYAN WOULDN'T HAVE A POINT.
  6. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1988_NBA_Playoffs#Eastern_Conference Game 3 @ Chicago: Detroit 101, Chicago 79 Game 4 @ Chicago: Detroit 96, Chicago 77 Exact same age as LeBron too. Were the Bulls the overwhelming favorites to win it all in '88? I can't remember. Furthermore it isn't that Jordan can't do any wrong, it's more that LeBron is just massively overrated. Kobe is the closest thing to Mike and LeBron is a guy who could maybe benefit by shooting a few thousand jumpers everyday because when he starts to age and lose his freakish athletic ability, I think his game is gonna fall off big time. Yeah, I don't agree with that at all. You don't think that LeBron is a horrible jump shooter that relies mainly on being bigger and faster than everyone else? 50+% from the field says he's not a horrible jump shooter. Also, career numbers. Lebron from 3- .329 Jordan from 3- .327

  8. You should know these Jordan idolators are never going to give it up. How bout this, Jordan fans, he wins 0 titles without Scottie Pippen. Man, there's really a bunch of children on this board. Because I don't agree with you I must be a guy that thinks Jordan can do no wrong? Try making a point and then throw your weak little jabs. Maybe, if people weren't on here sniveling about how "This wouldn't happen to MJ!!" everytime LeBron doesn't drop 50-15-10 I could see some sort of perspective about the Jordan thing. What would make me think that any of you think Jordan can do wrong? (Besides in his personal life, Hi-yo!) What does "people" have to do with me? I made 1 point that Jordan would not have finished a home loss by 20+ points while scoring 15 points on 14 shots in the process. I have yet to be shown factual evidence showing where I am wrong.
  9. Jordan never had the best record in the league for 2 years without an NBA Finals appearance to show for it (though jury is still out for this year) before 1991.

Thank god you did this... I hate when people make these emotionally charged arguments about Jordan like he never would've lost a certain way or was super human in some way (or as if Cleveland's supporting cast is anywhere near what Jordan had). That said, I do agree that I would have a hard time seeing Jordan play the way LBJ did last night... The 2010 Cavs have a much better cast than the 1988 Bulls.

  12. So if he had put up 23 and still lost by 20 it would have been okay like when Jordan did it? Yes. Which is why I didn't say anything after Game 2. Edit: actually, still doesn't change the fact that Lebron's team is better than the team they played.
  13. 15 points didn't happen to Jordan. Also, it was a different league in 1988. And the current Cavs team has much more talent than the 88 Bulls. This was also the infamous series where Jordan was absolutely mauled whenever he got near the rim. If Boston did to LeBron what the Pistons did to Jordan (and later Pippen), the entire team would be suspended for the rest of the series. It's not blind Jordan love. Maybe it's that this game is fresh in my mind (I'm rooting for the Cavs), but the best player in the league cannot allow that to happen. Not the 15 points. Not the 14 shots. Not the 20+ point loss to a lesser team.
  14. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1988_NBA_Playoffs#Eastern_Conference Game 3 @ Chicago: Detroit 101, Chicago 79 Game 4 @ Chicago: Detroit 96, Chicago 77 Exact same age as LeBron too. Did Jordan score 15 points in either of those games? A minute of searching gave the impression that the box scores were extremely hard to find. Considering they didn't crack 80 in either of those games, I don't think he had too high of a scoring game. Found it. Jordan scored 24 in Game 3 and 23 in Game 4. Not the back-to-back 50s he put up in Round 1 vs. the Cavs, but still quite a bit more than 15.

  16. Exactly. The worst part about LeBron going 3-14 is not the 3. It's the 14. Jordan would not settle for 14 shots when his team needs him. He would shoot his way into the game or get to the line more than the 12 times Lebron did.
  17. Didn't think about that. Would probably drop Villaneuva- RP Brewers (holds are a stat) and my backup OF, Franklin Gutierrez.
  18. If LeBron doesn't go there, Melo has NYC written all over him.
  19. I was just offered: Ryan Howard, Mark Reynolds, Austin Jackson, and Jon Papelbon for Joey Votto and Evan Longoria Rotisserie style league. Ks are a (negative) category for batters (as AVG, OBP, SLG, HR, RBI, R, Net SB). Should I accept?
  20. But isn't their success largely based on Dwight Howard? And don't the Bulls lack anybody that can compare? Yes, but they have performed well even when Howard has been in foul trouble, though it remains to be seen what they would do long-term. Obviously, that's not the exact formula the Bulls have to take. They probably would have to be more like Phoenix or Denver who are built around perimeter stars and long athletic bodies upfront.
  21. I think you need multiple shooters. Bulls don't really have one, and adding just one won't do them much good, IMO. Also, I think that may apply to Bosh, but is he even a guy that gets double-teamed a lot and passes out well? But I don't think Amare is a good fit for a 1/2 court oriented team. I don't think Boozer is dominant enough creating his own shots to be that big of a difference maker.
  22. You think Joe Johnson and Channing Frye is the best way to go to build a contender? Channing Frye would be an ok piece to spread the floor, but he's a guy. That's it. Joe Johnson is going to get a max or close to it contract. He's 28. The wheels fall off the shooting guards around age 28-30 and you want to pay him max money? That's your plan for beating LeBron and Howard? Bad plan. Yes, because there are so many fool-proof plans out there to beat teams led by LeBron and Howard. I don't really know anything about these guys in question, but would it be better to not lock into a huge contract with obvious second rate guys who won't do much to improve the chances of winning a championship. Or do people just want whatever free agent they can get and hope to become a 4/5 seed for years to come? That's a good question. But nobody thought Orlando would be able to be an elite team giving big contracts to Rashard Lewis, Vince Carter/Turkoglu, Jameer Nelson, Gortat, and Pietrus. It's about finding the right mix. If you think you can find the right mix, then go for it. If not, stand pat and keep the money.
  23. Probably not. Wade? He still makes the Bulls a perimeter oriented team. With Johnson and Frye, the Bulls are still perimeter oriented, but at least they create matchup problems at PG, SG, and whever Frye plays.
