  1. But it's not selfish of you to want to keep it in the city? Pot meet kettle They are the CHICAGO Cubs, not the Schaumburg Cubs, Evanston Cubs, etc. The stadium should be in the city. I know other towns do things different, but there's no need to move them out of the city. No need? How about the freedom to do with the ballpark what the owner sees fit to generate additional revenue? How about the need to be in a neighborhood that actually cares about the fans and people that spend their hard earned money in that neighborhood? How about parking? How about access to public transit other than the L? Should I continue? I'd be willing to bet that you live in Wrigleyville. Answer honestly... The bolded makes no sense. The current Wrigley neighborhood doesn't care about the Cubs?
  2. There is a train stop half a block from the stadium for the highest volume public train in Chicago. How could they possibly make it better?
  3. How feasible would it be to salt the Earth around Prior's house?
  4. its almost like you want the cubs to lose just so you can say you were right about thinking they would suck. No I just am still bitter about the last 2 seasons, really hurt by watchin the White Sox and Cardinals win world series, and I basically refused to buy into Spring Training optimism like almost everyone else on the board did. I knew it would take more then one season to turn that sorry 2006 team around, but Hendry decided to throw tons of money at mediocre players, leaving the team in a horrible position financially for the next 4-5 years. Don't get me wrong, I want the Cubs to win every game...but they won't. They'll only win around 78 of them. yep we will only win 12 more games than last year with this team. Why is that so hard to believe? Our team OBP was completely not addressed in the offseason. I don't care what you saw in the spring, players don't just randomly get more patient, especially veteran hitters like most of this team is. Our starting pitching is a bunch of spare pieces who can only succeed if they all have career years. Bullpens, our only strength, are a crapshoot at best, which is way only the best relievers don't have up and down careers. Taking all of that into account... You think replacing the crap we had at 1B last year with a full season of Derrek Lee, Juan Pierre with Alfonso Soriano, along with significant improvements in the rotation (as bad as you think it may be this year, last year it was worse), only equals 12 more wins? obviously he does I do, I'm pretty sure the win shares equal something around there. I could be wrong though. Stats are like a girl in a bikini, they show a lot but not everything Well good thing I'm only using stats to back up my opinion that they will only win 78 games What are you using then? Seems like you are being overly pessimistic because you are afraid to be disappointed. Stuff like "Ramirez has his best season last year without Lee, Lee being Healthy puts us closer to 2005, and just wait until they suck" aren't really convincing arguments.
  5. CUBS NEED TO BLOW UP THE ENTIRE TEAM!!!! 48 wins tops this year guys, it's all over. When does football season start?
  6. In Before "We need a catcher like Molina. A good glove man" Thread in the Baseball Forum.
  7. Man, what happened to the "Everybody loves the Cubs" song on WGN radio? This country music intro is a travesty.
  8. lol he got caught in traffic on the way back from bed bath and beyond where he was buying towels
  9. I'm still kind of in the "At least we can't get swept" mode from last year.
  10. ugh Edit: Didn't see that we already got the "ugh" response to this post out of the way.
  11. What a jerk. I think we should cut him for showing up by the deadline he was given.
  12. I was really impressed by Lilly tonight. Obviously, it was only one start but I really hadn't seen to much of him before tonight. A good first impression.
  13. Waiting for the HR here to scold us for running into out with a slugger up.
  14. :-s if rocky mcintosh isn't included, i don't do it. i'd even part with a 4th rounder, but that's as high as i go. I'd love Mcintosh. I don't understand why the Redskins would trade up to get him last year and then trade him this year, but I hope they do. i'd imagine that he'd put up pretty good numbers in the tampa-2. but if they want briggs, one of the best in the game, they'll have to give up a replacement. at least if i were in charge. Sounds like you and our good buddy Jerry are on the same page.
