  1. Oh, jesus. I should just leave this thread before I end up spending half my day here. OK, I'll check the "coincidence box" for you. Sorry, didn't mean to snap at you but I have had this conversation a bunch of times in the last few months.
  2. Agreed, but they needed to upgrade those even if Barrett stayed. I know guys slump, but Barrett's bat had been awful for two months now...should we really expect it to get significantly better over the course of his final season here? Check his BABIP and June stats. He was getting it back together. His bat has been below average and not awful. His OPS+ is 90.

  4. Bowen is having a good season and he's young. Hopefully he can build on his success this year.
  5. Because everyone on here would be the best GM in the history of the game. I guess spewing hyperbole and arguing over facts not actually confirmed counts as talking baseball these days. Come on, CT. Who else is going to be included that will make this trade different? We know it's Bowen and a prospect. The Padres system is a known quantity and it's not that strong. It's Barrett for Bowen and a mid-level prospect. I'm sorry for waiting for sources I trust. While the reports of Bowen and Burke are true, this is not always the case. I'm just skeptical by nature I suppose and prefer to wait until I have actual confirmation before I go off making assumptions and thus avoid ranting about how Hendry's an idiot for trading EPatt. People are going to discuss things based on the information they have. No need to get your feathers all ruffled about it.
  6. I wish there was a place we could go where all the transactions the Cubs made were discussed.

  8. Yeah, this is a bunch of crap but I'm not really interested in getting into it now that he's off the team. If you think a few past balls a year is worth having a black hole in your lineup, good luck with that.

  10. I'm fine with trading Barrett as long as we get something decent back for him. I didn't think the Cubs would resign him before the season started. However, he was far and away the best catcher on our roster. I'm a little wary that we don't know who the trade is for, yet.
  11. Why doesn't anyone know who we got back yet? That can't bode well for what we're getting in return.
  12. Really nice to get rid of one of our more productive players at his lowest possible value. Another fabulous move by the Cubs.
  13. 600 seems kind of arbitrary to me. I'd rather he didn't do it against the Cubs. I don't really cheer when other players hit homers against the Cubs.
  14. Ping Hitter is the term used for a player that can only hit the ball hard w/aluminum. I see...
  15. I have nothing against ND but I went to Notre Dame a month or so ago and was not really impressed. I vote for Yeti because I felt bad he got hassled by the man when he was camping.
  16. What does "PingHitter" refer to? The sound metal bats make or the type of golf clubs you hit. This is important.
  17. I have thought this for a while. I don't remember who brought it up here, though.
  18. Oh, I didn't need to simplify anything to make it look ridiculous. You are doing a very good job of that yourself. You're right, though. I didn't include that you wanted to throw Cotts in the trade. I sold you short there. Things are looking very realistic now. Keep going though. Everyone is wrong and you are the only one seeing things the way they are. QUIT DRINKING THE KOOL-AID, ARENT YOU FULL YET? Corey Patterson - Terrible Jason Kendell - The Answer I'm sure Kendall would turn down a one year deal for 11.7 million. Pretty big demand out there for catchers who swing a wiffleball bat. The shark move would be to test the market.

  20. Yep. The one who doesnt drink the Kool Aid. See also my CP fan club. CP was a bum then, he is a bum now. Barrett needs to go somewhere where he can play first or be the DH, he is just too much of a defensive liability...almost Dunn-like. If you weren't frothing at the mouth the get rid of Barrett you'd see that all your wacky trade proposals either make no sense, are totally improbable, or wouldn't improve the team. Nah, your probably right. Jason Kendall is a stud and would totally improve the team. Also we can probably trade 27 year old minor leaguers for the Braves organization's top prospect. Thanks for setting us all straight.
  21. Yep, an upgrade at Catcher for us. We then trade Barrett to the AL. Clears 2 problems with 1 stone. This has to be shtick. No rational human being could possibly think this.
  22. Kendall 2004: 20.7 LD%, .340 BABIP 2005: 22.0 LD%, .290 BABIP 2006: 23.9 LD%, .326 BABIP 2007: 19.5 LD%, .249 BABIP Pretty similiar. Missing the point. Barrett has been unlucky this year, he's a very good bit to improve offensively for the remainder of the year, as evidenced by his .831 OPS this month. Barrett's line if/when his BABIP evens out: ~.285/.340/.480 Kendall, on the other hand, will still be an offensive wasteland even if/when his BABIP evens out. If his BABIP jumps up to .300, he'll still be about .275/.315/.340(and that SLG/IsoP is very generous considering Kendall's past), which is awful and well below what Barrett is even at now. Yup.
