  1. I have a theory that Zambrano has let them know that if they want him to come back no more sucky defense at the catcher position or else. Does anyone know how Soto's defense is? I doubt it's worse than Barrett's. It's above average. So what you are saying is, there is officially NO reason for Soto not to be on this team? Yep. Too bad Hendry doesn't realize that.
  2. Especially since we had a catcher who could hit and gave him away for one that can't and a minor leaguer who can't hit too. And that we have another catcher that can hit wasting away in AAA. Zips' projection for Soto last year was.......... Name P AVG OBP SLG G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB K SB CS Soto c .236 .312 .334 98 305 35 72 12 0 6 33 33 84 1 1 ....... and his actual line was.......... 04/03 - 10/01 AB R H 2B 3B HR TB RBI BB SO BA OBP SLG OPS Soto 25 1 5 1 0 0 6 2 0 5 0.200 0.231 0.240 0.471 Let's don't go overboard, eh? Yes, he didn't hit very well in limited time in the majors last year. However, he's tearing up AAA right now, and it's pretty obvious Hill and Bowen aren't cutting it offensively. Why not give Soto a chance?

  5. I have edited my signature to reflect my annoyance with Hendry for not calling up Soto.
  6. I think we should petition Hendry to call up Soto. Sure, you can sacrifice SOME offense for defense at catcher, but I would like a catcher that actually has a chance of doing something at the plate.
  7. Pardon my stupidity, but who is Jo-Jo?
  8. Please don't be hot, sun.
  9. When was the last time Lee stole a base? It seems like it's been forever.
  10. Talk about walking a fine line between success and disaster. His inflated numbers mostly came from his non-save situations. He has been lit up really bad in a lot of those. Yeah, it's pretty easy to have an inflated ERA as a reliever. All it takes is one horrendous outing.
  11. Can't be. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20070705&content_id=2069988&vkey=news_chc&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc
  12. Darn. White Sox lose 20-14.
  13. Thome RBI walk. 20-14.
  14. But he pops out. 2 down.
  15. Now they have runners at the corners with 1 out.
  16. Will either team have any pitchers left for the second game?
  17. Now it's 18-10.
