  1. Without a doubt my proudest NSBB moment was starting this thread :D  8) For the first time in a long time this move gives me a least a little hope that this franchise could at some time get pointed in the right direction!!
  2. Yankee's pounding the Red Sox again (10-5) - Beckett walked 9 guys today - he would fit right in with our staff!
  3. Bet you a beer he's not Gladly I owe you a beer! :)
  4. Hey man we're still in this thing - this is no time to be worrying about some rook's confidence!!
  5. Say, didn't a federal judge just rule that such things violated the consitution? No her ruling (which has already been stayed by the 6th Circuit) only applied to terrorists, not baseball managers. So, the CIA can still control Dusty's mind, but just can't try to catch terrorists. I don't know - Dusty has terrorized most of us for a while
  6. I know.... it's just frightening isn't it?
  7. Heard the genius Steve Phillips on the Tigers/Red Sox game saying Neifi would be a good replacement for the injured Placido Polanco............!!!!!!!!! No way we get that lucky.
  8. I do not agree with these statements. I would suggest that the combination of all of them in the same lineup is pretty bad, but any two of them (excluding Neifi, who should only see limited PT, as he has lately) in a better balanced lineup would be fine. For instance, Pierre has been excellent the last 2.5 months with an OBP well over .350 and 25 EBHs, yet has only scored 32 runs in 67 games, due to a variety of factors. Unfortunately things stack up such that the first 4 are likely starters next year. If we could find a way to upgrade 2 of these positions offensively (including Pierre simply maintaing his current and career paces), and see a return of DLee to at least .900 OPS, the Cubs could get back to at least the middle of the pack or better next year in runs scored. A big IF at this point, but just a couple of smart moves and good health away. We have the resources to be at the top of the pack and that is where I would like to be.
  9. 26, I think. You are correct sir............he turned 26 in April
  10. Even a blind chicken finds a kernel of corn from time to time!
  11. I think they are just bad against pitchers in general
  12. umm...what? Wow.......I had to go find the quote myself before I would believe Baker actually said that.......just wow  If Theriot hits the ball and no one is there to hear it does the bat actually make a sound when the ball hits it??
  13. Starting that runner keeps you out of the double play
  14. Am I the only one who pictures Dusty sitting in the dugout thinking " There's no way we lose this game - look at all the baseclogging they've been doing!!!"
  15. I wonder if we could get him back in time to do some setup work in late September in case we get withing 10 games of the playoffs??
  16. White Sox still getting no hit through 7
  17. But that happens. You have to be a teammate and pick them up when they make a mistake and try not to let it be a bigger one. I agree, but it did change his performance. That and it seems the pitchers have to pick up Barrett quite a bit. yea, your right, hes a bum and the reason we stink this year, lets starta smear campaign and trade him His ops is way too high anyway
  18. Well if you had been paying attention in the pregame you would have been there when Dusty explained that Mabry really knows how to elebvate the ball against Webb :P Told ya!!
  19. "We're about to turn our defense around 100%!!" HOOOORAAAYY
  20. Not only do we get Izturis but we get to keep him through 2008!!
  21. The theory there is that if they don't let him get warmed up he'll never get his good stuff. Thing is dude in the dugout forgot to tell them it was 100 degrees out.
  22. Well if you had been paying attention in the pregame you would have been there when Dusty explained that Mabry really knows how to elebvate the ball against Webb :P
