  1. another good game for hill 7ip 6h 2r 2er 1bb 7k. i stil think he can be a good starter in the majors and hope it will be with the cubs. anyone notice what nolasco is doing for the fish btw? he might turn out to be a right handed version of dontrelle as far as the cubs are concerned. at least sisco is getting rocked in kc. havent heard anything this year about what a mistake it was for hendry to let him go.
  2. According to Cubs.com he's not on the 40 man roster. that would explain it. perhaps if/when they make a trade they can put him on the 40 man. hopefully williamson will recover quickly so they can trade him. along with the rumored interest in maddux & walker, the cubs should be able to get a few good of prospects.
  3. i wonder why a guy like rapada didnt get the call instead of marmol. he's been lights out all season and is used to working out of the pen. i saw him pitch against the cougars in kane county last year and he has a really cool submarine delivery.
  4. Yep! Brad Lincoln -Most likely going to be selected in the Top 5. -Works 91-93, touches high 90s and can do so in later innings. -Terrific curve with a developing change. -Bulldog mentality, aggressive against hitters. -On the smaller side (6', 200 lbs), but has a good enough body that endurance should not be a major factor. -Also has spent plenty of time as a hitter, could be moved to 3B or the OF if his arm fails him and has the power to make the move. Cory Rasmus -Hit 97 this past fall. -Strong frame (6'0 195 lbs) means he's already well-developed and should move quickly, but that his ceiling is limited. -Delivery has quite a bit of effort when he tries to dial it up. His arm and mechanics could be cleaned up a bit, too. -His fastball, slider, and change all project as plus pitches. -Good approach to the game, doesn't fold under pressure. -Could go anywhere from the 2nd to 5th round. whi is 6' 200 lbs on the smaller side but 6'1 195 is described as a strong frame??
  5. i think they would laugh hendry off the phone.
  6. good news. perhaps a healthy miller will allow the cubs to trade maddux for some future help. if hill can ever get his act together in the majors, i would mind seeing an 07 rotation of prior, z, miller, marshall & hill.
  7. mcarthy isnt doing too hot in the pen. i would rather see the cubs try to trade for some offensive help myself.
  8. with the pen being the cubs strong point & the sox weak point, perhaps the cubs should trade williamson to the sox for a few good OF prospects. with the resurgance of ardsma & wuretz doing well in AAA, it might not be a bad idea. perhaps they might even want novoa too.
  9. perhaps hill is answering the question in this post somewhat tonight" viewtopic.php?t=31922
  10. wonder when dusty's extension will be announced so we can look forward to last place for a few more years. i guess 95 million doesnt buy what it used to.
  11. by this do you also mean win games?
  12. i would rather see micha get called up myself.
  13. after seeing nolasco pitch today, he might be the real sleeper in the pierre deal (and not only beacuse of the cubs PATHETIC offense). he has great control and throws in the low to mid 90's with a good curve & change. pinto has good stuff but no control & the jury is still out on mitre but nolasco might be the right handed dontrelle w as far as the cubs are concerned.
  14. just today? how can anyone ever take this guy seriously? isnt he the guy who was going to quit baseball if the sox won the world series? i turn down the volume whenever he is on the radio or tv myself.
  15. time to call up soto or fox for a few games
  16. You cannot be serious. Yeah, it was sort of stupid, but he was fired up. Barrett grabbed him and slugged him. I lost a lot of respect for Barrett. Yet you still have respect for AJ, right? Did he slug a player in the face? Also, how does AJ know the ball is not even close? I don't think it was right, but saying he deserved it is laughable. isnt aj the guy who punched a trainer in the groin after he was hit by a pitch in the same area and the trainer came outy and asked him how he felt?
  17. its not unheard of. see gary gaetti in 98 for the cubs. if dusty would platoon him with jones he could be alot of help imo.
  18. with Maddux's resurgance, it looks likely that he will get an extenstion after 2006 ( 2 year?). the rotation for next year might be something like prior , z, maddog, marshall, hill/guzman/miller. along with gallagher & pawlaek in the wings, the starting staff looks to be very solid for years to come.
  19. He signed a very inexpensive contract with the Dbacks (I believe two years at only $1 million per year). At that price I'd be surprised if they don't keep him even if only as insurance against their own injury problems. They'd know that they could suffer key injuries just like anybody else, and at the cost I'd think they'd keep Clark. If that's the case, I think we need to offer them something mildly enticing to get it done because Clark seems like the perfect option. Maybe Marmol or Pignatiello and Theriot? i doubt marmol will be traded after the start he has gotten off to (especially not for clark).
  20. if restovich doesnt work out, maybe they should give Micah a shot at the bigs (especially if he can keep on tearing it up in AA as he has been doing). another left handed bat in the line up certainly wouldnt hurt.
  21. he is dominating but daytona is high A. he should be going to AA soon i would think with perhaps marmol going to iowa. in that case, it might be the end of brownlie with the cubs.
  22. i think the cubs will end up trading williamson & bringing up ardsma to go along with novoa. they can very likely get alot for williamson from a team that needs a closer. i wonder what they will do with rapada. the guy is lights out in AA. do they go with 7 bp guys & 3 lefties? i dont see hill as being trade bait myself. guzman has not shown he can stay healthy for minor leauge season let along a big leauge season so i doubt they rush him to the bigs with so few minor leauge innings.
  23. with guys like marshall, guzman & hill the cubs have no need to spend big $ on an overrated zito. imo next year's rotation will probably look something like: z, prior, miller/williams, & 2 of hill, marshall & guzman.
  24. i think williams will get the 1st shot after rusch and then hill if williams tanks. hendry & dusty have already said that guzman needs to work more innings in the minors to build up his strength before he gets a shot at the ML. i doubt he will get called up before Sept. when wood/prior/miller get back i would think one or both of williams/rusch will get traded.
  25. he showed good control & has a great curve which is close to hill's imo. with marshall, hill & guzman to go along with z & prior (and perhaps wade miller in the mix), the rotation looks to be very solid for years to come. i still like williams too but he has shown that he can only produce as a starter.
