  1. I never thought I'd say this ever...but...Go Irish :-\ I hate ND more than USC, but I'm so tired of hearing about them, and I want a new Champion this year...so...Go Irish... I'll be at the game too. Do you know where Gameday is setting up? The last time they were there it was infront of the Library (touchdown Jesus). You going up for the Pep Rally on Friday night? Montana is the speaker, and it will be aired on ESPNEWS. Charlie has been wearing a USC OWNS ND hat all week, and is expected to wear it at the pep rally as well. I really can't wait for this weekend. I also like ND being 13 point dogs.
  2. Chances for glory? What glory do they get for being on a list of marquee matchups this weekend in college football? Sorry it's not a Big East matchup. Perhaps Rutgers/Syracuse deserves more glory. It's an undefeated Big Ten team, facing the previous year's conference champion. That's a marquee matchup. A team that has beaten the ever so tough No. Illinois and E. Michigan and lost to about everyone else is marque? I don't think so. While we are talking about the wonderful Big 10/11 let me know how many top 25 teams they have beaten out of conference? They did beat MSU.
  3. JoePa is not a problem with that school, but he is still a pompus a$$. Come on, as a ND fan how can you respect that man? He degrades ND any chance he gets, when his players get arrested for drunk driving he says it is not that big of a deal, and they didn't do anything that was really wrong, he gets in fistfights with ND alum in limo's after bashing the school, the whole Dan O'Conner thing (I believe that was his name) and numerous other things that are just wrong for a coach to do IMO. He is a good coach there is no denying that, but as far as a person I have no respect for him. Wow, that is about the opposite of everything I've ever heard said about Joe Paterno. There are actually quite a few articles saying how he lets his players slide with a lot of infractions, and he blames the fact that everyone is out to get football players. In his mind a football player can break no laws. Some of the stuff is pretty old though. I do think he is a good coach and I like Penn State, I just disagree with his thoughts/attitude on certain subjects. If I can find any of the articles I will post them for you.

  5. The 84 series, I was a young pup, but I remember my grandfather going on a profanity laced warpath that day. Something along the lines of losing a big money bet. Then the 2003 series, well, I went on a profanity laced tirade, that's for sure. I was bartending at a sportsbar during the melt down in 2003. Customers were afraid to ask me for anything for the rest of the night. I actually got in trouble for my bad service that night, not to mention my less than friendly attitude. Ouch, that must had sucked. I learned the hard way to not be working while there is a Cubs postseason game going on as well. I hope that sometime in the near future the Cubs will have a postseason game for me to take off work for.

  7. Some people were angry at PSU for canceling 4 official visits for this weekend, but it was the right move. Since it was a night game, all day Saturday was taken up by the Ohio State game. Really, they'd only have a couple of hours on Sunday to talk with the recruit and show them around campus before they'd have to leave and head back home. Still, over 30 recruits made unofficial visits and were on the sidelines during the game, and I don't think can underestimate what a game like that can do for recruiting. Close game, national TV, beating a national powerhouse, with 110,000 fans behind you (OK maybe like 105,000, there were some Buckeye fans there). I had chills, and I was up in the stands... I can't imagine how it felt to a 17 or 18 year old high school senior standing and looking up, hearing the roar of the crowd. Hopefully the effects of that game will translate not only into a great rest of this year, but also a great recruiting class that will keep PSU good for years to come. Logan-El is the third ranked guard right now. Not too shabby. However he already gave a soft verbal to Maryland, and still has to visit Florida and Tennessee. If he is moving PSU to the top of his list after already verbaling to Maryland, and he still has more visits I would not put a lot of stock into what he says. I see what you are saying about the cancellation of the visits but I thought that was pretty bad for them to do. Why cancel four visits on the biggest home weekend of the year, but still allow others to come unofficially? It seemed to me that if you are trying to sell your football program, why not bring them in for a huge game such as what they had this weekend. However I hope to see PSU get some recruits and build a good program up again. Just get rid of JoePa.
  8. Sitting Orton will not solve anything. That was his fourth NFL game. It is not fair to expect a lot from him.
  9. I hate Mark May. ND will win.
  10. Maybe Pitt was so upset by getting blown away by ND at home, in a primetime slot, that thay lost all confidence. They lost all moral and just don't believe in themselves anymore. Not only did they lose the football game but they lost their spirit. Same thing with Michigan, suffering their first loss at home to ND, and getting ripped by all the media. They just haven't been the same since. That is quite a reach, and I am not being serious when I say that, but you never know...
  11. I was just judging on this weekend's events. Minnesota's win at the Big House makes PSU's blowout of the Gophers look even better, and makes ND's win over the Wolverines less impressive. PSU's win over Northwestern looks better after the Wildcats beat an undefeated Wisconsin team yesterday. The ND wins versus Pitt and Washington are wins over garbage teams, and the win over Purdont looks less impressive since the Boilermakers got thoroughly trashed by Iowa at home yesterday. And the obvious difference, ND has a loss and PSU doesn't. I guess we will get a better view of where they stand when PSU travels to Michigan this week. That will be a very, very tough game for PSU... so much emotional energy went into beating Ohio State, and Michigan will likely be very angry after losing to the Gophers. Fair analysis. I think the ND's schedule looks a little weaker every week. It doesn't help that the Big 10 keeps beating up on each other. USA Today Poll just came out Week 7 USA Today Poll 1. USC (57) 5-0 1,544 2. Texas (4) 5-0 1,488 3. Virginia Tech (1) 6-0 1,425 4. Georgia 5-0 1,348 5. Florida State 5-0 1,290 6. Miami 4-1 1,187 7. Alabama 5-0 1,156 8. LSU 3-1 1,049 9. Notre Dame 4-1 998 10. Penn State 6-0 942 11. Texas Tech 5-0 918 12. UCLA 5-0 862 13. Florida 5-1 840 14. Boston College 5-1 657 15. Ohio State 3-2 572 16. California 5-1 563 17. Michigan State 4-1 540 18. Tennessee 3-2 473 19. Louisville 4-1 460 20. Auburn 4-1 444 21. Oregon 5-1 311 22. Minnesota 5-1 303 23. Wisconsin 5-1 293 24. Colorado 4-1 184 25. West Virginia 5-1 91 VT closes the gap between them and Texas! ND # 9! People were calling Pitt and Michigan overrated teams as soon as ND beat them, and ever since they have made excuses for every ND win, so I'm not surprised. I'd be shocked if even one presser picks ND to beat the Trojans next week even though USC has looked mediocre in their last three first halves and ND has thoroughly dominated all their opponents except for the Spartans. Pitt and UM were overrated. There is no way around that. No way UM should have been #3. ND did not dominate them either, that was a close game that could have gone either way. I am a die-hard ND team, and did not agree that they were overrated at first, but after 6 weeks, it is pretty obvious that they were. USC is favored by 13 points and have much more talent than ND. They should win. I don't think they will, but they should. True everyone does make an excuse for the ND wins, but I am used to that by now. For everyone that loves ND there is someone who hates them. It has been like that my whole life. Herbstreit may pick them to win though, and Lou already said they would. Maybe if ND beats USC, then some of the criticism will finally go away. There is only one way to silence those who still don't believe the Irish are for real, and that is on the field.

  14. 1. USC 2. Texas 3. Va Tech 4. UGa 5. F$U 6. Bama 7. Miami 8. LSU 9. PSU 10. Notre Lame 11. Texas Tech (ohhhh so lucky) 12. UCLA Penn State above Notre Dame (you spelt that wrong  )? I could see it happening, but there are about 500 votes between the two right now so it could be close. I think maybe in the AP they will, but not the coaches.
  15. i've never seen a bengals playoff game while rooting for them. How long you been a Bengals fan? Around 2000. Long story short, my friend is a die hard Browns fan, so to make him mad I pretended to like the Bengals, but then I really did fall in love with them. But when I first fell in love with them, no one liked them, so I did it to be different. Now everyone in my town loves the Bengals now. :( Wow, not many people became a Bengals fan in that era. The reason I asked was because I have very fond memories of the Icky Shuffle and the 89 Super Bowl, even though I was only 10. I couldn't see many people becoming Bengals fans much after that but I too have liked many a team just to piss my friends off. That is how I kind of became a closet Miami Hurricanes fan.
  16. any speculation on the new top 10? I would not be suprised to see PSU make an appearance, but they would have to jump alot of teams. OSU and Tennessee and California will be out leaving room for either LSU/PSU/ND/TT/and maybe UCLA, at least in the coaches poll where they are ahead of PSU.
  17. Has anyone heard anything about Leinhart not playing today? I read that he may not.
  18. I havent watched Northwestern at all this year, but this Sutton guy is a manchild
  19. Tailgating in the rain is great. I have done it a few times. Just dress warm and drink a lot. You won't even notice the rain :D
  20. i've never seen a bengals playoff game while rooting for them. How long you been a Bengals fan?
  21. To the best of my knowledge there was no World Series in 2003.
  22. In no way was that a swipe a Chicago. The only thing I didn't agree with was his denying how delicious a Chicago dog is.
  23. What about the year the Bears had the first round bye. 13-3 season under Juron in 2001.
  24. Yeah, and if they win 6 or 7 games this year, with Orton under center, he'll still go into 2006 as the most accomplished Bears QB. Very true. Grossman is what 3-3?
  25. If the Bears make the playoffs with Orton under center, it better be his job to lose to Grossman in training camp. I am tired of all this Grossman talk and if Orton can lead us to the playoffs, there is no reason why he shouldn't start again next year. I is important to remember that this the Bears may be able to make the playoffs with .500 (or worse) record.
