  1. How can this not be considered tampering by Baker?
  2. Lineup according to USA Today: Soriano Theriot Lee Ramirez DeRosa Soto Monroe Jones Trachsel
  3. I am a Cub fan living in Cleveland, and you won't find a single person in Cleveland rooting for Thome. The Indians had a mid-season trade all set for Thome in his last year there, but he convinced them not to make the deal, claiming that he was definitely staying in Cleveland. He then signed during the off-season with Philadelphia - for an offer very comparable to his offer from Cleveland. There is no other player who is hated in Clveland as much as Thome is!
  4. Here is a link talking about him: http://taiwanbaseball.blogspot.com/search/label/chih-hsiang%20Wen
  5. Don't forget that Barrett is a free agent at the end of the year - and it was VERY unlikely that he was going to return next year.
  6. It is obvious that many posters on this board feel an upgrade at shortstop is needed. My question is whether there is any indication that Hendry feels the same way. It appears to me that Hendry has decided (rightly or wrongly) that Izturis is the starting shortstop, and is focused on improving other areas (starting pitching, outfield). Is there anything that indicates otherwise?
  7. There is a somewhat confusing quote from the Iowa manager in the Des Moines Register: Iowa lost starting pitcher Angel Guzman in the fourth inning due to what Quade said was a tight forearm. Guzman hit Oklahoma's second batter of the night with a pitch, then struck out six of the next seven batters during Iowa's early offensive success. He struck out eight batters, playing 3innings. "He's a guy who is going to come in and play an inning or two at most," Quade said. "He threw good."
  8. "If Colvin doesn't live up to first round status and the ND kid chooses football this may well be one of the worst drafts ever if none of the other picks pan out." You can make this comment on every team's draft - if all of their picks fail then it may well turn out to be one of the worst draafts ever.
  9. I have been reading the ridiculous comments on this board about Tyler Colvin for 2 days now, and can't take it anymore. How can all of you people who have never seen him play and never talked to any scouts about him "decide" that he was a terrible pick? Are you assuming that your judgement based on no evidence is so superior to Joun Manuel or Tim Wilken?
  10. "ARam and Todd Walker to the Indians for Brandon Webb(3rd) and Brad Snyder(OF)" Brandon Webb is on Arizona, and is a Cy Young type pitcher. The Indians third base propect is Andy Marte, who is hitting 257 in Buffalo and does not look ready for the majors.
  11. According to MLB.COM, there is a Brewers radio broadcast for this game.
  12. The song was written by Steve Goodman, whose most famous song was City of New Orleans (a hit for Arlo Guthrie). He was a native Chicagoan and Cub fan who died in 1984 - just before the Cubs won their division.
  13. I am pretty sure his team lost in the finals for the league championship, so he will not be playing in the Carribean Series
  14. The league playoffs are going on now. Cedeno's team is in the finals, and Ronnie is batting third and hitting .500 for this series after hitting .339 for the round-robin and semi-finals
  15. The "SB" in the box score is for sacrifice bunt, not stolen base
  16. The Dominican Winter League started yesterday. Felix Pie led off for Licey, and went 2 for 4 with a 2B, a 3B and a walk.
  17. Mark Shapiro has already stated that he intends to pick up Ronnie Belliard's option, so will have no interest in trading for a second baseman. Cleveland is looking for right-handed power hitters, for first base or right field.
