  1. Considering how few hits and walks he's given up, he may only face a few Cubs three times. He doesn't really throw many pitches per game at his age anymore, does he?
  2. Sweet. Hopefully they won't lose ground today then. The Cards need to lose for us to keep 2nd place, although when you are 6.5 back, it doesn't really make much of a difference, I guess.
  3. Then why didn't Maddux give them the lowdown on Zambrano? They were both on the same team for quite a while, and nobody could hit him yesterday.
  4. Hill has had a few meltdown starts in which he has given up multiple homeruns, that just seems like a part of who he is as a pitcher right now, vulnerable to the long ball. He might be tipping his pitches, but you can't say that for sure. he threw a first pitch curve to cameron, not a bad pitch, and cameron was just sitting on it. The Pads are either stealing signs or know something that no other team does. I wish that Hill was pitching tomorrow against a different team. It wasn't a terrible pitch, but it looked like a curveball that stayed high in the zone, something that can be vulnerable to being hit hard. Maybe they know something, but isn't it possible that he is just having a bad start?
  5. The Cubs haven't really seen him that well, though they haven't flailed pathetically either. What makes you think he blows up today?

  7. Looks like I was right about Hill having a meltdown today.
  8. To be fair, his stats do kind of suck. .268/.330/.341/.671 He's a grinder, though, and that makes it OK that he has zero power, apparently.
  9. Doesn't feel like it today. Maddux isn't dominating, and he isn't getting a big strike zone. My guess is Cubs get a few runs off him, but Hill has another meltdown start, and Cubs lose something like 6-3.
  10. Fake rally's in the ninth are worst. No blowing the lead in the ninth is worse. I always know the Cubs are going to fake rally, but they don't always blow it, so you aren't expecting it the same way you are expecting the rally to fail.
  11. The Cubs.
  12. Not really. There were several that they lost in extra innings after the pen gave them 5+ innnings of shut out basebal because they failed to score despite having several opportunities with runners in scoring position. Those were much worse.
  13. Great. So the Cubs fall 6.5 back in the division on a game they should have won easily.
  14. He has very good power and the wind didn't hurt him.
  15. You obviously haven't been watching today. Those balls were in the umps zone all day long. I could go with the 2nd one being a ball but the 1st was a strike. Definitely agree. Now the question is, will they go with the fake rally, bases loaded choke? Or will they just Pierre three times in a row?
  16. Jones  Barrett. And Pagan, to a lesser extent.
  17. I'm pretty sure that pitch was pretty close to Lee's wrist and I'm pretty sure he missed most of the year last year with a broken wrist I don't care. The team needs him. Exactly my point - that is why he can't allow guys to just chuck it at his head or his wrist What? So the better option is to get suspended, leaving the team without their best hitter for ten games and not preventing future instances of beaning (actually making it more likely by starting a fight)? Better than being out for the season with a broken wrist.............I was at the game in 1992 were we lost Sosa for the season on a pitch just like that He clearly wasn't out for the season, and getting into a fight isn't going to improve the condition of his wrist, or disincline pitchers to throw at him.
  18. no I noticed. He's walking people, and it sounds from Pat like he's letting his arm drop back down. I hope he manages to keep the Padres from scoring, because he's gotten a couple lucky bailouts already. Anyone got his pitch count? He's had some lucky bailouts from the fielders, but other fielders got him into the situations that required said bailouts.

  20. I'm pretty sure that pitch was pretty close to Lee's wrist and I'm pretty sure he missed most of the year last year with a broken wrist And Peavy said he'd hit a Cub star player. But details. Again, it doesn't matter. The team needs Lee. Nice DP.

  22. Runner on third, one out. We need a K here. Or a pop up.
  23. And this is why Lee needs to keep his cool.
