  1. i'm very upset that farns was traded. i think a lot of fans buy into the 'he was bad for team chemistry' line and are glad that he's gone....as evidenced by the boos he got when he came in. oh good, the continuing effort to have wood's arm fall off will continue. Dusty took care of Prior's arm earlier in the game. If only this game could go to extras so Dusty could take care of Z's arm too. i'm telling you, he's trying to create arm injuries for next year so that he has a built in excuse to underperform again.
  2. Well he was at 122 when the at-bat started. The time to complain was then, not after the count was 2-2 and there were 5 foul balls. how many pitches did he have before the inning started? over 100 right? that was when the bullpen should've come in. baker always waits until its too late.
  3. if he's injured to start next season, there is a built in excuse for mediocrity??
  4. what happend? an infield single scores 2? can't see the game, someone explain for me please.
  5. Minnesota has Johan. :D Seriously though, Minnesota needs a 2B, maybe we could take advantage of their overcrowded OF and pen. I thought that Minny was talking to Texas about Soriano? The 48-hour window passed and Texas pulled Soriano back from waivers.
  6. thanks for the link. that's a really cool song.
  7. I thought he did his job perfectly last night. He came in with a runner on 1st and 1 out and got the first guy to hit a grounder that could've been two, but they didn't turn it. So he got the next batter to hit another double play ball that wasn't converted. Not entirely his fault he got into that jam last night.
  8. Rotoworld had a good article detailing all the free agents at each position: http://www.rotoworld.com/content/features/column.asp?sport=MLB&column=14&articleid=1077 He says pitchers will be done next week. Thought this might be helpful.
  9. I'm not sure that Dusty isn't the right fit for the organizations philosophy. I don't agree with their philosophy, if that's the case, but I've seen no evidence to make me believe the two don't share the same philosophy.
  10. Curse you for making me think positive! i know. they are sucking me back in again. i cannot kick myself of this habit! Son, you will never kick this habit. There is no cure !! i was afraid of that!

  13. let's say we split the final two games this weekend (although of course i want to win both) and then we go down to Houston. could we sweep 3 at houston and be right back in the chase?
  14. Nobody worth beaning coming up this inning. Mahoney is a long-time card + hes the catcher. Good target. Wasn't Mahoney in the Cubs minors (and a brief cup of coffee) a few years ago? Or is that a different Mahoney?

  16. I don't think those two words belong next to each other. :D In any case Nomar probably needed a day off and at least he didn't bat Perez first.
  17. Careful, you know what happens when you assume ("leads me to believe"). :D
  18. Look at the bright side.... it's 2:00 and the Cubs aren't losing yet. :D
  19. murton is 0 for 4, i guess that means we won't see him again for a long time.
  20. Ever since that night the team has collectively become excuse makers. For all teh talk of Dusty being a good motivator, I haven't seen it. Take a look at the Cards lineup the last week, those guys are bums for the most part and tehy just keep winning.
  21. we've had one 8 and one 7, and then however many this one ends up being.
  22. Hasn't control issues always been the knock on Hill? Maybe he's not quite ready. The curve is really his only established pitch. When it's on, it's devastating. When it's off, well, you can dig out the box score on his last outing, where he couldn't locate his curve OR fastball. Hill has no business being up here. I SO wish Hendry had procured a rental starter before the trade deadline, but the only good option would have been AJ out of Florida, and that would have taken a ton to get. And he's not exactly without health problems, either. Why not just let Mitre start? I'm not too comfortable with Hill or Williams, neither seem to have much control.
