'Cruddy Central Division teams that sneak into the playoffs with sub-90 win totals could never, ever possibly win the World Series' that's a great rational, because it happened to the cardinals it will happen to us, is that like jims people who can catch the ball theory last year?? are you part of jim hendry inner circle cos i have a couple of questions i'd like to ask.

Not going to meltdown i just don't believe we will make it any further than the 1st round of the playoffs. No one can tell me this team is good enough to win a WS. To the people who keep making comments like'who says hendry hasn't tried' etc this is just bs cos it's his fault our OF,C and bench require upgrading at this point. Actually he has done one thing-made the C position worse than it was before.

Ok i'm prepeared to get stoned for this............ I would roll the dice and trade Marmol for Dye. I'm hoping on 2 things, wood comes back and lasts through the playoffs. I'm also gambling on Dye continuing to hit as he has since the all-star break. He is the best RH bat available and gives us the best chance of winning. We need some pop this year not next year and i'm sick of waiting for the prospects to pan out. I do think we could get better value for marmol in the off season but will we have the chance to win this division as we have this year? Let the stoning begin!!!

'Nomar's .820 OPS as our SS in 2004 most definitely helped us. It just didn't keep us from collapsing in the sickest cold streak ever in the final 10 games.' That just happened because i arrived in Chicago during the mets series!!!

I don't think we get anyone , not many rumours at all involving us. Normally we would at least be mentioned in trade talks.

I'm not worried about Marshall's ability, i actually think he is the better pitcher out of himself and Hill however he's not pitched long stretches without getting some form of injury. Is Gallagher good enough as a back up plan?

not really a prediction thread just a chance to state views on the state of this ballclub. Could Hendry of done more? has the impending sale taken away hendry's ability to make a deal?. Have we got players in the system who are going to help down the stretch? Do the cubs make the playoffs with this team?. My own view is that with the addition of Wood the BP should be fine and i wouldn't of gone looking for another RP. SP really bothers me, i'm uneasy about Marquis with good reason after his 2nd half in previous years and i also can't help wondering how Marshall and Lillys arms will fair during this busy schedule. I may of looked for a SP if available, on the flipside is anyone available that would of been a better option than Gallagher?. The lineup concearns me more than the SP, we are now 9-16 vs LHP which has been a problem over the last 2+ years. I know it's easy to sit here and criticise hendry but the inability to get a capable right handed bat preferably in the OF is inexcusable. Cedeno won't be the answer and i think too much has gone on for Murton to be a success under Piniella, Soto seems to have TB and Fox didn't get a look. When it is all said and done i think the cubs miss the playoffs after seeing too much Jones,Pagan and Floyd in the OF.

No over reaction , this will not be something serious, no way he pitches this long if there was serious damage, i'm guessing some bruising and he makes his next start no probs.

Any update on this?? i have a hard time believing a deal will take place between us and the reds with griffey this close to 600. Was it levine who reported this? if so i'm discounting it already.....

Hendry gave an interview tonight (AP) after woods outing in peoria, think its on usa todays website, says he'd like to get another bat how about another 6???!!!!
