    Who will be this year's Zach Duke? An early candidate: Chicago's Sean Marshall. A year ago the lefty was pitching for Single A Daytona. Today he's being counted on to help bring stability to a struggling rotation. Marshall is a towering 6-foot-7 but isn't a power pitcher like his twin brother, Brian, also selected by the Cubs in the 2003 draft. Marshall, who reminds scouts of Mark Mulder, possesses excellent command of his low-90-mph tumbling fastball and should be frustrating opposing hitters at Wrigley for years to come.

    Eh? Most our starters can't get beyond the 5th inning. The number of innings that a pitcher throws doesn't matter. It's the number of pitches that matter. Dusty has his starters throw too many pitches. You just stated why Dusty is worried about his bullpen being burnt out. Because his starters can't make it past 5 innings regardless of the pitch count. What is Dusty suppose to pull his starters after 4 innings because of pitch counts? You really think that this is excessive: Guzman: 104 Marshall: 90 Maddux: 89 Zambrano: 103 Rusch: 81

    Maddux pitches 7 innings strong 2 ER. Cubs win this game 7-2! Cubbies break out thier bats today! RAM and MURTON go yard with Back to Back Jacks!!!!

    Without question. We might be sure but again once we get healthy we can make a run at it. Don't forget the Astro's where 15 games under in May without Berkman. They got some guys back and healthy (Berkman and Pettitte) and made a run at it.

    We've given up less than 7 runs 2 times in the last 6 games. We've scored more than 2 runs 1 time in the last 6 games. And yet we stand at 14-11. As I said it could be far worse! It could be, and it will be if things don't change for the better really soon. The overall record is a nice distraction from the troubles that are hounding this team, but that doesn't mean those troubles don't exist. I agree...Then there really is no need to expect anything either. I'm only hoping for .500 and hope to get guys healthy and see what happens.

    We've given up less than 7 runs 2 times in the last 6 games. We've scored more than 2 runs 1 time in the last 6 games. And yet we stand at 14-11. As I said it could be far worse!

    I think some of you guys have way too high of expectations for this current team. Losing our best hitter and most of our starting staff is rookies anything over .500 is great. We stand at 14-11 after today. That is not too bad.

    Damn, I didn't even realize he was still out there. This is a horrible, horrible decision. The guy is coming off arm problems, and you are gonna throw him out there for a 6th inning when he's already above 90 pitches!?! It's not like he's even pitching that great. yeah, but don't expect dusty to think about that. Which is why he has no buisness being the manager of my team if I were Jim Hendry. Well what choice do he have? The bullpen is spend as it is and our next day off is in two weeks.

    actually PH Blanco Mabry Nope, it's Neifi Blanco Mabry Baker double-switched again. Neifi's at second. Well that's not the best 123 guys to have in the 9th...But this team doesn't give up so you never know...
