  1. HE'S ONLY GOT ONE PITCH!~~~!! Rich Hill is not a starter! He never will be! I've been preaching this all year long... you have? You know I have. I said all along he's at best a left specialist.
  2. HE'S ONLY GOT ONE PITCH!~~~!! Which used to be his curve, but he's been hitting 93 with the FB as well tonight. 2 pitches won't cut it for a starter but I think he could be a decent long relief man down the road. I think with that big curve and decent fb he can be a very good relief man

  4. Wow! It's just amazing the gap between AAA and ML is that big! Looking at Hill I can't believe he's that good in AAA...
  5. That's what I thought after the Cubs scored 2 in the 1st!
  6. Hill actually does something to help himself out! Good job Hill!!!!
  7. Cause that's his only good pitch. Have you been watching today? Nope, but I don't need to watch tonight's game to know that Hill has a really good curveball and nothing else. Again he's a one pitch pitcher and is a future lefty specialist..
  8. Mentally Hill will never be a starter. He doesn't have the stones? Look how he folded after the HR. Marshall hangs in there and gets the outs he needs.
  9. Rich as long as you don't walk more then you K I'll call it progress!
  10. that's the problem with how the cubs have handled this (and how they handled murton and cedeno last year). even if he's lights out for the rest of the year, i don't think that's enough to evaluate him. same goes if he's terrible. he should have been in the rotation a long time ago so they could get a better read on him. Well that's up to Rich Hill. Rich Hill could've been pitching the whole year instead of Marshall if he showed anything in ST or the 4 starts he's had up here. You really can't blame anyone besides Rich Hill not stepping up.
  11. Maybe it's because Rothschild doesn't know how to deal with Hill (but others in the organization do...i.e. Alan Dunn)? Well I can't believe that when he comes up to the bigs he forgets how to pitch? Is it possible his stuff isn't any good against ML hitters? I guess we'll never know unless he gets the chance to take the bump for the rest of the year...
  12. I like it when Derwood doesn't post in my game threads. maybe if your avatar was that new UCLA recruit getting his skin pulled off.... btw, 4 pages in the Game Thread before the game has started? When did people start caring again? My sig is of THE DON. Don't piss him off or he'll have your skin pulled off. As long as Veal keeps his walks down...He's got a bright future...
  13. How many runs did Hill give up again? Ever heard of having a lead boosting the pitcher and giving him more confidence? A few runs could do wonders for Rich Hill. The Cubs haven't helped him much in that department with all this "do or die" talk, and not getting any run support, if abuck is correct. That's Rich Hill's problem! They aren't scoring runs for him! I thought it was the 15\11 BB\K ratio or the 5HR and 20 ER in 19 innings. Yeah, and my point is getting a few run lead to work with could help rich hill's confidence immensly. So I'm hoping the cubs score early. But this is the cubs, so rich hill will be traded for nothing to end up being a good pitcher for another organization. With a pitching coach and manager that know how to work with him, and maybe nurture him a little instead of blaming him and pressuring him for everything. Well there could be a reason that Baker and Rothschild have been a bit down on him. Ever wonder why they don't say a bad thing about Marshall? Maybe Hill isn't listening to coaching? It's rare that Baker bad mouths any player. So you just have to wonder.

  15. which is exactly what you're doing for the offense. hill has not been good in his starts, but baker seems to want to completely blame him for those four losses, when, in fact, zambrano probably would be 0-4 in those games. of course, this is the guy who gave maddux credit the other night when he got banged around just as bad as hill did because maddux got the win (thanks to a bunch of offense), so i shouldn't be surprised. What does the offense have to do with Hill being terrible? Sure if the Cubs offense scored him 8 runs a game he would be 4-0, but it doesn't make him a good pitcher...I'm not saying he's the blame for the cubs loses. I'm saying he didn't help himself by pitching terrible.
  16. That's exactly what should happen. That to me is a no-brainer. He's got nothing else to learn or prove in AAA. It's either step it up or step out. Let him take the bump every 5 days...
  17. How many runs did Hill give up again? Well, there were two starts where a good offense could have won, but to say that Hill hasn't been mostly at fault in his losses is a little bit of bias against dusty. When you have a ERA of over 9 in 8 starts it's a bit hard to blame the Cubs offense. Giving up 9 isn't any worse than getting shutout. On a personal level it sure is! If you're posting a 9 era you aren't giving your team a chance. If you are getting shutout you aren't giving your team a chance. Hill is guilty, but he's hardly the only one. Even though Dusty likes to single him out. He's certainly not the only one, but I hardly feel like defending someone that doesn't give himself a chance to win. The only defense Hill has is he just needs to have more starts to prove himself. I'd like to see him get the rest of the year and lets see what we have, and tonight is the first step in doing so.

  20. I'm shocked he hasn't it lost it yet!
  21. Regardless, you have to marvel at the run they had with a missing outfield.
  22. and on Dusty playing the stats... I had no problem with Dusty pulling Dempster...
  23. *Torii Hunter, Shannon Stewart and Lew Ford are absent from the Twins outfield because of injuries. In case anyone in the Cubs organization might wonder how a team overcomes adversity. Take that Dusty!
