  1. Barrett, Lee, Rameriz...Didn't all these guys play much better since coming over to the Cubs...
  2. I'm going to assume you haven't read this entire thread, since there was quite a discussion about the fact that JH turned down several "top prospects" - including possibly Guzman or Kemp - either of which would have been a fantastic return for 2 months of Maddux. I read that also, but was that ever proven? I can't see Hendry turning down those prospects? Why would he?
  3. C'mon! You would be comfortable with Neifi Perez at SS instead of Itzurtis going into next year? Abso-frickin-loutely. Defense: Wash (both former GG winners, both actually very good on defense) Offense: Perez has superior numbers, but probably a wash. Cost: Perez Looks simple to me. Don't you think that Iz is a bit more upside to his career then Neifi? I mean you can't be serious?
  4. C'mon! You would be comfortable with Neifi Perez at SS instead of Itzurtis going into next year?
  5. It can hurt. Because he's signed through 2007, at least, and is really bad at what the Cubs need people to be really good at. I would have taken nobody for Maddux over a deal like this. This hurts the team. I'd have taken a C prospect who doesn't even affect the organization. Who do you want to play SS next year?
  6. I thought you were kidding before. But you actually think this? I don't care what Dodgers fans think. They are probably the same type of fans that think the White Sox won with small ball last year. They're just lapping up the rhetoric coming from Lasorda. Izturis sucks. He's exactly the type of player that has been holding the Cubs back. The Cubs need massive offensive improvement, and starting pitching. They do not need another all glove no stick middle infielder. Lots of people want to claim you don't need production out of the middle infield (as if this is still 1987), but all the good teams are getting something out of one of their middle infielder positions, if not both. And if they aren't getting great OPS, they are at least getting servicable OBP, not the sub .300 crap the Cubs are content to go to work with. I'm sticking with this trade. I like this trade...I really do. What do you expect for Maddux? I mean it can't hurt to see what he does for the rest of this wasted year...
  7. Not a problem...At least give the guy the rest of the year and see what we have. He's only 26 years old.
  8. And probably the year after that... Izturis has to be thrilled. He's almost guaranteed to have his club option picked up for '08, when there is no chance the Dodgers would have taken it. Yes there was. The Dodgers loved him. they loved him so much they completely squeezed him out of their infield plans for this season by acquiring mueller and furcal. Do me a favor and talk to some Dodgers fans. Look at their forums. They love Iz! They think it's a terrible trade getting rid of him. I think all these negative posters will turn around once they see him play on a daily basis.
  9. Exactly what everyone said after every move in the offseason. It doesn't matter if it's the first or the final, it's bad. I'm certain it's not the final move. Obviously he's going to do more before April, but that's just the problem, he keeps making the team worse. How is getting Iz making this team worse? The guy is one of the best SS in the league. Trust me we are going to love watching this guy...
  10. I agree about Iz! I thought I was the only fan that loves this trade!
  11. I'll take the under on that. He's due for a decent start. He can't be this bad, can he?
  12. Hill stinks! I'll be at the game tonight. I hope Hill breaks out tonight...Hell I just hope he makes it to the 5th inning! Go Cubs and Go Hill!
  13. I saw that also. It seems that Izz was a fan favorite. 90 percent of the fans I've chatted with hate this deal...
  14. Walker on now: "Im really going to miss this place" "Best place to play in baseball"
  15. Maddux: "A part of me will always be a Cub." Again class...
  16. I've been saying that on a daily basis this year...
  17. Per Rotoworld.com: According to CBS.Sportsline.com, Cesar Izturis is going to the Cubs in the Greg Maddux deal. Yeah, that's just what the Cubs need. We suppose this meant Ronny Cedeno will move to second, opening up short for Izturis. It should be baseball's worst offensive middle infield.
  18. Does anyone have HD? I'm having trouble watching Jim sweat on a 50" HD-TV. Yikes!
  19. It's funny because I just went to a Dodgers forum and they are all going crazy because they think it's a terrible deal! About 90 percent of the posts I've read all think the trade was terrible for the Dodgers. They couldn't stop raving about Izz.
  20. Either way I'm fine with that. It's nice to hear after all this team has been through the last two years his first choice is to remain a Cub. That to me is a sense of pride being a Cub. I respect that and love that!
  21. Cubs win today 5-2. Z going 8 strong today..
  22. Just having him in the dugout is enough to keep him.
  23. "I don't know what is going to happen and I don't think any player wants to leave Chicago, myself included, great place to play, great ballpark, great fans, great city. Aside how we're playing there is really nothing wrong with Chicago," Maddux said. "I don't know what is going to happen, but I just wanted to say thank you and let the fans know I appreciate them."
