  1. Didn't Clement say he wasn't comfortable with relieving? Not just uncomfortable; but his asthma would just kill him on the mound if he didn't get enough time to warm up. I think he needed something like 45 minutes before the game before he could pitch without being significantly affected by his asthma. Ahhh...Yes that was it.

  3. The most excited I've ever been as a Cubs fan. I'm definitely down for some recreation on their part. That was the one time in my life I really let my guard down with them. I thought for sure after that game we were going to the World Series. I thought for sure in 1984 we were going to the World Series. That scared me as a Cubs fan forever. I knew in 2003 after game 5 we were in trouble. We looked flat in that game. After the game I went on espn.com message board and told everyone that we are going to blow this. I just felt it. Of course everyone laughed at me... I was on ESPN at the same time and was telling people to quit projecting possible World Series rotation matchups, as we hadn't won anything yet. Too bad you couldn't let Dusty know that, before he held Z out of game 7 to start the first game of the world series. I think Wood was the proper call in game 7.

Of course everyone laughed at me... I wasn't old enough to remember 84. 89 and 98 we weren't very good. '03 I was happy with the first round win, what with our young pitching. But, once we got up 3-1 with Z, Prior, and Wood going. Sigh. Consider yourself lucky because that was a ridiculous choke job. Yeah I saw them talk about it on the HBO cub special. It seemed to hurt more to the older cub fans. it must be bad, because I still can't watch the highlights of '03 without getting angry. After 1984 I was fully prepared for 2003. It eased the blow a little. Very little.

Of course everyone laughed at me... My Dad bought champagne and had it on ice after game 2. We watched in horror for 3 consecutive games as our best players just all of a sudden couldn't do anything right. ....watched in horror as the evil Garvey ripped our hearts out. I was too young, it was only several years later I discovered the league took away our rightful home field advantage. 1984 hurt me on a very deep level. But that was to go to the World Series. I've since learned that this club can make the playoffs. We've done it several times. The big hump is winning that 4th game in the NLCS. We aren't there yet. I'll never forget the headlines the next day reading "EVEN STEVEN" after game 4. Damn you Garvey! And I'll never forget the headline after game 5 in the Tribune. "Wait 'till next year" and had a picture of a Cub Bear shedding a tear. Man that was a rough off season for a kid.

  8. Wow! That would be huge.
  9. Sounds good to me, except for the part about Monroe. Though I saw someone said this in another thread: isn't that dude about due for a 5-5, 3HR game or something? There has to be some return to his statistical norm soon. Doesn't there? In other news, I will be missing most of this one on account of a "business dinner." Leave it to me to grouse about getting a free dinner. :) But I'd much rather be parked in front of the tube. I think we'll get something from Monroe before it's over, maybe tonight if he plays. Overall that lineup should be good. These guys have actually been hitting lefties pretty good recently, and Dontrelle does not qualify as a "good" lefty this season. He's certainly nowhere near Gorzelanny who we just plastered. We've faced so many lefties I don't think it's an advantage for the opposition anymore. The recent history supports that notion. I actually would perfer to face lefties. We seem to have fixed whatever problems we had with them.
  10. It's probably be the same lineup we saw in the Pitt series. Sori Derosa DLEE RAM Murton Soto Monroe Theriot Something like this...
  11. I'd rather be in our position then theirs...
  12. Suppan is 2-0 going 15 1/3 allowing just 3 runs in 2007. Looper is 1-1 with a 5.73 ERA vs. the Brewers this year. Hopefully Looper thinks he's pitching against the Cubs and comes up with a gem.
  13. here is what i am thinking...i live in clearwater, florida it has been raining here for about the past 5 days...usually during the day and then it is just sporadic and short at night time... i think it will rain there today, but will be ok by gametime or shortly thereafter... it is going to wet this whole series...so...they are going to have to try to get them in because it will be pretty hard to get a DH in tomorrow with the daytime rains... just my thoughts on the matter...i am going tonight because the forecast calls for 90% during the day but that drops to 50% by the evening...and if it does rain at all tonight it will probably just be short bursts... Yeah, they'll get them in.
  14. They better take 2/3. If they can't go 4-2 these last 6 games they may not make it...Cards look like a sweep and the Padres are a sinking ship. if the brewers win seven straight after that disaster in atlanta they probably deserve to make it. Pretty much.
  15. Wow! This thread as turned into a Black and White issue? I thought it was a dumb and dumber issue?
  16. 60 percent chance of showers tonight. Yikes! Hopefully they'll get this game in. We don't need any DH this time of the year.

  18. I'd say this game is pretty much over. Oh well...Just gotta come out with guns blazing tomorrow.
  19. 4-2! See guys relax! Bush and the pen will cough it up and WainWright has settled down a bit.
  20. Game isn't over yet people. Relax. Bush and the pen will give up runs.
  21. There is never a excusable reason to behave the way Bradley did. One of the sadest thing in this country is that somehow that type of behavior is ok as long as the circumstances are right. Well who is to judge if the circumstances are right. I am not excusing Winters part in this. I am just saying there is no excuse for Bradleys. there clearly are excusable reasons to behave the way bradley did. he was a lot more mature and civil than winters. Damn straight! Bradley showed him how to handle the situation in a mature and civil manner. Oh wait...
  22. yah, i can't imagine why a black man would get upset when a white authority figure taunts him using Allegedly racial overtones  Fixed.
  23. The bolded part is the only thing that matters. That's all I'm trying to say. The fact that it was an ump that got him peeved like this is just plain wrong to me. Again, if that ump or any other had a problem with Bradley they should have said something when the alleged bat flip took place. Or if Bradley just kept his mouth shut and wait until the game (He already waited 3 innings) was over, none of this would've happened. Whatever the case I hope it was worth it for the ump (it might cost his job) or Bradley (playoffs). In both cases it was poorly handled.
