  1. The Cubs want to lose. Want? No. Will? Yes.
  2. What the hell I'll predict it now. We will get swept this series.
  3. Gotta start scoring here. Put something on the board. Lilly's starting to roll...
  4. What's insane about it? You can feel how this game is going.
  5. Don't count on it. Hopefully Brewers will lose...
  6. Time to write this game off. I pray the Cards can pull off a win somehow.
  7. If we lose tonight and the Brewers win, we're still up 2 games with 5 to go. I don't understand why people are freaking out so much. The game is only in the 3rd inning. Gee, I have no idea why people are freaking out. It's not like we've never blown leads before...
  8. The scary thing is the next two days we have Marquis and Trachsel. Hopefully we'll come out of here with 1 win.
  9. I really don't think it does. Cards stink and the Padres have nothing left.
  10. C'mon Cards!!! Man, we need them to pull out a win tonight, because this game is over.
  11. Is the game going to start on time?
  12. A little better with Edmonds back in there. I guess. I guess...
  13. The most excited I've ever been as a Cubs fan. I'm definitely down for some recreation on their part. That was the one time in my life I really let my guard down with them. I thought for sure after that game we were going to the World Series. I thought for sure in 1984 we were going to the World Series. That scared me as a Cubs fan forever. I knew in 2003 after game 5 we were in trouble. We looked flat in that game. After the game I went on espn.com message board and told everyone that we are going to blow this. I just felt it. Of course everyone laughed at me... My Dad bought champagne and had it on ice after game 2. We watched in horror for 3 consecutive games as our best players just all of a sudden couldn't do anything right. ....watched in horror as the evil Garvey ripped our hearts out. I was too young, it was only several years later I discovered the league took away our rightful home field advantage. 1984 hurt me on a very deep level. But that was to go to the World Series. I've since learned that this club can make the playoffs. We've done it several times. The big hump is winning that 4th game in the NLCS. We aren't there yet. I continue to see people say this happened. It simply isn't true. It isn't? Cubs had the better record. I thought it was because the Cubs couldn't have night games and that would effect the ratings. Edit: I just read it was a rotating field advantage. I didn't remember that. Interersting. Up through 1984, it was rotating home field in a 2-3 format. The NL West had home field advantage in even numbered years, the NL East had home field advantage in odd numbered years. Yes. I do remember that now. I totally forgot about that!

Of course everyone laughed at me... I was on ESPN at the same time and was telling people to quit projecting possible World Series rotation matchups, as we hadn't won anything yet. I remember after game 4 hearing people on ESPN discussing whether they wanted the Cubs to lose game 5 so that they could win at home. Unbelievable in retrospect. I remember that also. All that talk just pissed off the Marlins.
  16. Didn't Clement say he wasn't comfortable with relieving? Not just uncomfortable; but his asthma would just kill him on the mound if he didn't get enough time to warm up. I think he needed something like 45 minutes before the game before he could pitch without being significantly affected by his asthma. So, they should ahve setup a stationary bike or something in the clubhouse. Have him get warmed up at the start of the game. It was the playoffs there should be no excuses. Z was running on fumes, from what I remember. He wasn't nearly as sharp as he was during the season. But he should have been an obvious candidate in Game 7. Best way to answer these types of questions is to just win the damn thing this year. Hell no! He was too pumped up! He pitched 98 on the gun consistently.

Too bad you couldn't let Dusty know that, before he held Z out of game 7 to start the first game of the world series. I think Wood was the proper call in game 7. Oh he was, but once he struggled when they went with Beckett we should have went with Z. I honestly think that Beckett pitched every single game. He killed us.
