  1. Because it's again appropriate: League avg runs in the inning with man on 2nd no outs: 1.1 runs 3rd with 1 out: .97
  2. In July w/ RISP, Lee's line in 11AB: .286 OBP .273 SLG .182 AVG
  3. Prior vs. Hudson earns Buster Olney's Reverse Lock of the day... "Cubs starter Mark Prior is coming off a game in which he allowed only two hits and struck out 10, and he faces Cincinnati's Luke Hudson, who has accumulated more earned runs allowed than innings pitched for a 9.85 ERA. A classic Reverse Lock, with all logic pointing to a Chicago victory." Here's hoping the Cubs can take a few pitches and add to Hudson's 18 BB in 24 innings... while cautiously adding to his 7HR's (I'm not a pitching coach, but I'm guessing waiting for the fat pitch on the 3-1 count, and laying off if it's a ball?)
  4. Let's get 'em tomorrow - I can live with 3-4 from the Bucs... no more losing streaks please!
  5. 1 & 3, 0 outs usually = 1.84 runs... We've left a league average 3+ runs on base in the last 2 innings...
  6. League avg runs scored 1 & 3, 1 out: 1.24runs
  7. BP's Will Carroll weighed in 7/5 and noted: "...slower leg kick amounts to stopping at the bottom, essentially adding a second balance point [that] is unnecessary and counterproductive...the changes don't amount to much. Worse, [they] have had no effect on Wood's motion from the stretch. Each pitch ended with him going violently towards first base due to late hip motion. I'm not sure if this new mechanical set-up is more sustainable than the previous one. I do know it probably doesn't matter."
  8. But for a horrible Novoa pitch, the Cubs could have gone 4-3 against Atl and Fla. (It still leaves us swept by the Nats, though...)
  9. The Cubs and Marlins only share one off day the rest of the year - September 19th. Cubs would be between a StL homestand and a Brewers road series. The Marlins come to Wrigley again in August, but I'm not sure they're up for yet another road "home" game or two.
  10. Thank Murton's patience as another Boston OBP-based draft pick. This point was driven home at a BoSox game at Safeco this year where every players' OBP was .100 better than their batting avg. Imagine if all of our players walked 10% of the time. Here's hoping Murton can bring that to this team that could really use it!
  11. I love baseball - everything about the game. For a while I've been thinking about what it's like to just watch a game. Just watch it. Remember that feeling? I have also been thinking maybe I should just sit back and watch the Cubs and enjoy the beauty of baseball. I wouldn't get caught up in the wins and loses...but then, I'd still have to watch this team, and I'm not sure this IS baseball.
  12. Did TBS just show Hendry on the cell phone screaming "Sell Sell Sell"? Or was I only dreaming?
  13. I heard an announcer a few days back mention that the Cubs have not had a lead in a game since their last win. True? If so, what is it - 62ish innings so far?
  14. The scary thing is that even with a torrid April, he is now BELOW his horrible career OPS.
  15. if Holla was out there, he would've made that catch. Agreed.
  16. Will it be too wet for Aramis to play tomorrow?
  17. League average 1st and 3rd one out = 1.86 runs
  18. I'm hoping there's more to root for this year than DLee homeruns - I've had enough of those seasons in the past...
  19. Top 5: 1) Jon Garland, 2) Clemens, 3) Hampton, 4) Willis, 5) Peavy
