  1. two hard hit balls. C'mon Rich, get these guys
  2. AMEN. Not on MLBTV not on EI what am I paying for again?
  3. non-game related note. Very impressed with Cleveland's move on Brady Quinn.
  4. can I just repeat how much I hate the blackout rules for MLB? I'm in washington freakin' DC and am blacked out for the cubs/cards game on MLB TV AND EI?
  5. Blanco handles Z well, so I'm ok with that. But Pie goes yard, starting to come together offensively and he's benched? Come on. It's a day after a night game too, I'm just preparing for the offensive futility. At least I'll be at work and not able to see the game. That's OK. I have Extra Innings and I can't see the game either. Stupid Fox.
  6. somebody else said it, but we've given far lesser pitchers a chance after major arm surgery (Miller and Williamson), giving Prior a chance is a no-brainer.
  7. and the lack of starts for Murt.... well we've got that going for us

  9. gross. Pie means foot in spanish. You like toe jam?
  10. Well, if the lineup can support Jacque Jones and Izturis, it can support Pie and Izturis. Pie's OPS is currently higher than Jacque's, and it projects to be slightly higher than Jacque's. Based on each player's current OPS, substituting Pie for Jones would result in about 16 more runs over the course of a season. The lineup didn't support JJ and Izturis. It's weak. But we're agreeing here. I want Pie to play everyday and stick. As has been said elsewhere by me and others, we need to have some young cheap talent on the field to support the expense of Soriano, Lee, Ramirez, and future acquistions (please, Arod, please!). One reason I didn't like the Floyd signing. We didn't need him. You can never have enough players True. You can never have enough GOOD players.
  11. I laughed. For the record, I am bigger than I was 5 years ago. It was definitely not the roids that did it. same here. It's the beer...... beer = HGH???

  13. Dusty?
  14. Please, make this happen. Cubs up 200-0 or something first, but that would be priceless.
  15. Izturis's defense isn't good enough to warrent that kind of offensive liability. The least they can do is give Theriot some time out there to prove his critics wrong. All our SS options suck. That Theriot is being put at SS just underlines how bad we are at that position. There's no doubt in my mind that upgrading SS is the single biggest need we have for position players. But Theriot in at SS for now let's us keep Pie in the lineup (and we've disputed this before). If we could upgrade SS (can I get an Arod! AMEN) and move Theriot to 2B we're doing great. Look at this way too. With Pie, Theriot, and Murton in the lineup we'd actually have three good young CHEAP players in the lineup. That kind of player development makes signing Arod actually feasible. Cheap talent allows for expensive talent elsewhere.
  16. I think this is linked to the decision on Theriot and Izturis. If you keep running Izzy out there, there's no way the lineup could support waiting for Pie's bat to come around. With Izzy on the bench (or traded ), Pie can safely hit 8th. And he protects Soriana and Floyd/Murton/Jones by covering the gaps and playing great CF. totally worthless stat - i've had no several friends who are all fans of other teams call/email me about Pie with nothing less than praise. I even got offered Broglio for him on the phone, lol.
  17. Go play in the street or something. He's allowed to have an opinion, no matter how baseless it may be.. Baseless? I don't need court documents to know that Sammy's physical development required something more than a normal workout routine. I think you'll also see a transformation in his body from 2005 to 2007. Strange how a seemingly washed-up player goes away for a year and comes back bigger and hitting home runs again. Hmmm, I wonder... But don't ask Sammy about it, he can only speak English when he's praising himself. Yea, because anyone would be stupid enough to make a roid-induced comeback when millions of people are already questioning him about his past because he thrived in the steroid era. Sosa is totally that dumb. There is no test for HGH, so what does he have to lose? He's not the only one, but it's naive to think that a significant number of major league players aren't still using performance-enhancing drugs. You're right, there is no test for HGH. However, one could come along at any time. Those urine samples have a funny way of hanging around forever, and tests done on them have this funny way of leaking out of grand juries. Do you really think that Sammy wants a retroactive failed test to happen, even years from now. Never mind that, yes, you're right, Sammy could have been in the Dominican Republic shooting up on HGH...but what is he doing now? He isn't vanishing before our eyes. And I would imagine that with pharmacies being raided, doctors going to jail, and careers being ruined...HGH is probably a difficult thing to purchase in this country right now. Lets be honest here. This has nothing to do with performance enhancing drugs. This is a player who continues to be loathed for mistakes he made as a Cub. And you know, I understand it a little bit. I was pissed at him for the bat. I was pissed at him for abandoning us on the last game. But then I moved on. Two head shaking incidents do not negate all of the joy Sammy gave me over the years, practically being the only thing that kept my Cub love alive for a lot of them. Did Sammy use 'roids at some point? Probably. For a lot of years it was the Wild Wild West in MLB. ANYONE who played the game during that era could have. So, really, isn't it best to just move the bleep on and be content to just call it "The Steroid Era"? Because unless you were complaining about this during the Sammy/McGwire homer chase, you're being a hypocrite. EVERYONE knew it then, we just chose not to deal with it. I knew then that it wasn't natural for a mans head to double in size like Big Mac's did. But I was having fun, and looked the other way. And we can't have it both ways, now can we? GREAT post, dude. And true. Heck, McGuire had Andro OUT IN THE OPEN in his LOCKER during an INTERVIEW and it was only mildly controversial. Now he's disgraced and no longer a lock for the HOF. Yet we cheered. Yet we followed every AB of both Sosa and McGuire. Yet we smiled and enjoyed those goofy press conferences. And Yet they were credited with 'saving' MLB after the disaster of '94. So, I agree. Let's not be hypocrites and pretend. I hope Sammy was always clean. I have my doubts. But he has my support now in TX.
  18. It's that good? Sex is like pizza. Even when it's bad, it's still good to have.
  19. makes me hate Dusty more than ever. Really. I want Prior back and healthy. A healthy Prior would makes us contenders again. Imagine Z and Hill and Prior in one rotation. Or being able to trade Z for ARod. Or Or Or Ah hell. Stupid Dusty Baker. Stupid Marcus Giles. Stupid two years without diagnosing the problem. Makes me wanna drink.
  20. Yes, we have to pay him-and I don't understand why he has little hope of improvement. He has been a pretty good reliever for most of his career, and he has just recently made a mechanical change after his horrible start. If you want to trade him, that's fine-the Cubs could use one less left-hander in the bullpen and the salary cap relief. He still has value though. -and I'd have to change my sig.
  21. SH%$%U$% DeRosa is hurt on HBP to forearm. Hope he's OK. (Cuz then Izzy will end up back in the lineup!)
  22. Put Eyre in We haven't scored enough for that.
