    LOL, me a Missionary? I think lightning would strike if I even tried to go into a church.... I work for the State Dept. and the US Embassy to Mozambique. I happen to be in the States right now, getting to watch games (and chime in here) for once.

    So I miss last night's magic because we were without power for 12 hours after the remnants of Ike swept thru the midwest. I saw the results come in on my my brother's cell phone updater. I was really upset. So what happens? We get today. This is indeed SOOOO fun.

    Best Cubs game I never got to see. We went without power last night, no one had the game. Ended up picking up gamecast - sort of - on my brother's crappy cell phone. Did a little dance after the last out, but I would have LOVED to have seen this.

    It doesn't matter who the bears have at QB this year. The offensive line is, well, down right offensive. Or maybe offen-sieve. It is going to be a LOOOONG year. Just remember to viciously mock anyone who drafts a bear on offense in your fantasy league drafts.

    Marquis and Eyre remain this teams weakest links. Our 25th man is better than our no. 5 starter - in my not-so-humble opinion.

    Lilly coming back strong certainly helps take the pressure off of the rotation after losing Hill. But we're still trotting out Marquis out there every five days and I am yet to be convinced that Demp is going to perform at his current level through the season. If Marshall and/or Gallagher can get into the rotation and Hill can come back, I'd be thrilled. Use Demp/Marquis for tradebait at the deadline.

    Did Palmiero testify before a grand jury? But isn't it illegal to lie to Congress? Was this indictment unexpected? I don't believe Palmeiro ever testified before a grand jury, but he definitely lied to congress and committed perjury. If Bonds is being prosecuted then Palmeiro should be as well. Palmeiro flunked the steroid test after he testified before Congress. There was no evidence (i.e., a failed drug test) that he had taken roids before his testimony or committed perjury. Did he? probably, but there was no evidence he did so there was never an indictment for perjury. Also, and I may be wrong, but I think that we're talking different jurisdictions. Congress issues its own subpeonas and would issue its own indictments for prosecution by the Justice Dept. Bonds, however, is accused of perjuring himself before a federal grand jury which falls solely within Justice's purview.
