  7. All of this is ludicrous
  8. B&B were yelling about how the first question at tomorrow's pressed had to be about Crane & his continued influence in baseball ops.

  10. I'm relieved the U is right side up.
  11. I'm betting Selig told both sides that he'd screw them if they don't work this out.
  12. Only if you trust Selig not to screw us if the RedSox dig in their heels until Nov 1. At least the fantasy notion that Boston would keep Theo and/or pay him to sit out a year is now off the table.
  13. Sean_McAdam Sean McAdam Selig tells #RedSox, #Cubs: You're on the clock. Nov. 1 deadline to figure out Theo compensation, or he will step in. bit.ly/n1DSFg Sean McAdam Sean_McAdam Sean McAdam Told that there will no more dialogue between #RedSox and Cubs on Theo compensation until after Tues. press conferences. http://www.csnne.com/blog/redsox-talk/post/Selig-to-intervene-SoxCubs-negotiations-?blockID=581840&feedID=3352
  14. Selig will arbitrate if a deal cannot be reached by the end of the WS.
  15. Boston Globe Red Sox: RT @BostonLisaD: Departing #RedSox GM, running an ad in tomorrow's @BostonGlobe saluting Red Sox Nation. #classy
  16. I thought nobody on the 40 man was gonna be included.... Having different people at the table now probably shifts the bargaining positions.
  17. Well, Kenney would be losing some power I guess, so I can see this sort of ringing true. That said, I take everything from the media in this process with a grain of salt. Boston media is blaming Kenney (gee, wonder which side leaked that information), while wasn't it Leviine the other day that was blaminig Henry? I'm pretty dubious of a claim that Crane Kenney either was holding up negotiations without Ricketts's knowledge, or that Ricketts was ok with it. I'm also dubious that Kenney would be "in hot water" with the commissioner because of the talks being held up an extra day. I still think the Chicago reports are more likely true - that Henry was holding things up otherwise the deal would be done. I mean, Kaplan and Levine were close to right about things being done on Friday, so it sure feels like pressure from Selig came down. Sullivan's article says that the joint announcement was made after 'cajoling' by MLB. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/chi-chicago-cubs-hire-theo-epstein,0,2913884.story The way this deal goes down is fascinating to me -- I'm looking forward to Crane Kenney leaking the play-by-play.
  18. WELL NO [expletive] I POSTED THIS 45 PAGES AGO You can't expect the man to read, yeesh. Which brings me to a question: how many here have actually read every page in all the Theo threads? It's embarrassing to say, but I have. I blame Henry/Lucchino. Guilty. I also need to clean out all of the Boston jackasses I've been following on Twitter for Theo news. :yahoo:
  19. CSNMooney Patrick Mooney There is optimism on #Cubs side that several issues have been resolved in Epstein talks, though deal is not yet complete. Favorite Retweet Reply
  20. @thekapman David Kaplan Hearing that no compensation will be required to bring Jed Hoyer over from San Diego. 45 seconds ago Favorite Retweet Reply Nice, if true.
  21. nickcafardo Nick Cafardo Bud Selig has stayed out of Theo Epstein talks between Red Sox and Cubs. Compensation deal not done but lots of optimism that it will. Favorite Retweet Reply
