  1. Cubs.com article is up with some brief quotes from Fleita. Lost in minor league portions: LHP Yorkin Ferreras (Tampa Bay) RHP Victor Ramos (Boston) LHP Andy Santana (San Diego) IF Aaron Sisk (San Francisco) Drafted in minor league portions: LHP Carlos Jan (Baltimore) RHP Geivy Garcia (San Diego) 1B Aaron Rifkin (Seattle) Cubs have traded Rifkin to Colorado for a PTBNL.
  2. Bo Fuliniti, the former Daytona Cubs broadcaster (he recently accepted a position with the Stockton Ports), answered some questions about Mateo here. He did the Q&A for NSBB in early August. There's been other discussion of Mateo in the Minor Leagues Forum, but it would be difficult to track down without the search function. GOOD LUCK AARON i still love you (seriously, go read all the old posts i made about chiefs games last summer, sisk is my boy) True that!
  3. Is this anything more recent than his comments from yesterday (and I think he had others the day before yesterday)?
  4. What's the world baseball schedule? He was all gung-ho about pitching in that before.
  5. We've talked with him about scheduling another chat (like the ones we've done with him before) once he returns from the winter meetings. We just need to confirm schedules. So stay tuned! :)
  6. Looked like Cedeno batted 3rd today. Where is he usually batting?
  7. Agreed (other than Pawelek isn't off limits to me, but hard to figure anyone giving return on that deal). Either trade the pets or blow up the team.
  8. No one shows love for my question, either. I hope Pawelek can put up a Gallagher-like year. Except, of course, with better stuff.
  9. There is a backup NSBB for use during board service time / outages. Here's the url: http://s8.invisionfree.com/emergencynsbb/index.php

  11. What kind of year do you expect Pawelek to put up in '06, assuming he starts out in low-A Midwest League? By year: what results beyond the numbers (though numbers are always interesting). (curious because I'll probably see several Chiefs games next year)
  12. Check your PMs, you should have one from me! It's cool-looking and comes in its own case. You'll find out.
  13. Mets have also picked up Tike Redman for cash considerations. LINK
  14. I'd wait. There are people selling tickets around the stadium before the games. A lot of the frontline HoHoKam tickets are already allocated to season ticketholders (yes, you can get spring training season tickets) and to package deals. If you have a good idea of when you'll be there, it may be worth checking out any "away" games they're scheduled for to see when those tickets go on sale. The ST ticket sales are crazy the first day ... as unlikely as that might seem. I also became a fan of the outfield berm seating.
  15. The scoring has been entered. Everyone please doublecheck their scores. Looks like the top 5 are Mizzou - 166 Mark_R - 164 Outshined_One - 161 dacheezwhiz - 159 Tedward - 156 CuseCubFan69 - 156
  16. BTW, the correct chat time = 11 AM CT Monday.
  17. Veal and Gallagher didn't make it, I figured there was a good chance Gallagher wouldn't make BA's list. Koronka gets some love for his changeup! Here's the Tools list: Best Hitter for Average Felix Pie Best Power Hitter Ryan Harvey Best Strike-Zone Discipline Sam Fuld Fastest Baserunner Dwaine Bacon Best Athlete Felix Pie Best Fastball Mark Pawelek Best Curveball Rich Hill Best Slider Grant Johnson Best Changeup John Koronka Best Control Ricky Nolasco Best Defensive Catcher Geovany Soto Best Defensive Infielder Ronny Cedeno Best Infield Arm Ronny Cedeno Best Defensive Outfielder Felix Pie Best Outfield Arm Ryan Harvey
  18. Reminder -- the thread will be locked at 10pm CT tonight, so get your entries and edits in before then!
  19. Good, a thread to talk about what we think the rankings should be (vs what BA's will be). I think BA came out with their rankings later last year. Last year's BA article with the Cubs top ten is dated January '05.
  20. Just a quick note -- I'm not sure what time they release the list. There will also be a chat (BA subscribers only) with Jim Callis about the prospect rankings; I *think* the chats have been starting at 2pm CT, but I couldn't confirm that after a quick search at the BA site. I am probably not going to be online and able to score these until Monday night, so please be patient. If you want to score your own entries, feel free to do so. :)
  21. There's an NSBB mini-contest going on in the Minor Leagues Forum. (Regular). If you think you know better than Baseball America -- or at least can predict what they'll say (which is the contest) -- then enter your picks.

  23. I thought he also split a tendon in his finger or something in spring training with Marlins. This probably needs to be searched on this forum.
  24. I also thought that Sing could be useful as a backup at some point. The rotoworld writeup on AZL prospects noted that he was available.
