  1. Anything more than just a substitution? Not that I've heard. The broadcasters were pretty fired up about it ("he's hitting .300!"). Sing was subbed out for Gary Cates later in the game, though I think that was in a doubleswitch.
  2. FYI -- came across this person's website on the Globalization of Baseball after he posted at Bleed Cubbie Blue about an interview he has scheduled with Jose Serra (listed as Latin-American Supervisor and head scout) on Thursday. He said if anyone had any questions, they could be submitted through his website. People might also be interested in his writeup of visiting the Cubs D.R. academy. I don't know him, but the interview sounds like something that people here would be eager to help out with some questions in hopes of getting the answers back!
  3. Wish he'd chill on those 2-HR games until the deal is done! :P
  4. He's about the only person worth watching on this ballclub My friend says they should rename the team The Chicago Zambranos. The logo would be a slashed zorro-style "Z" that would slash apart a cute stuffed cubby bear, which would then burst into flames. Animated logo? Or is all this happening in one shot? Hmm, the logo could be the Z over the decapitated flaming teddy bear body while the actual ad would show the devastation occuring. Mascot = a live bull that Z could play matador with on off-days and which would gore any drunks that ran on the field. Cross-promotion for Da Bulls.
  5. I don't know. I didn't see the segment ... I just heard the rumor. :)
  6. Rumor has it that he walked off the set right after that argument (your memory is correct, it was over A-Rod) -- they cut to commercial, came back and he was gone.

  8. D'oh! And I of course had a brain fart and wrote the wrong first name.
  9. Dusty got choked up when Lenny Harris was DFA'd.
  10. Chris Walker with a loooong triple scores on an Eric Patterson groundout. Eric has both DJaxx rbis tonight, both on groundouts.
  11. We interviewed Gallagher when I was in West Tenn and he mentioned that he had been working with the West Tenn pitching coach (Mike Anderson) and Andy Pratt (the Daytona pitching coach) on some mechanics problems he picked up. Hoping to get the sessions up soon. He went through a similar phase last season in Peoria after the all-star break, but ended up finishing off the season with two good starts . Maybe there's a fatigue factor that he has to work through as well. The Lookouts broadcasters mentioned he was hitting 93-94 in his last inning of work (they seemed to think that matched what they were seeing) so his velocity is still up there. Lookouts pick up another run and lead 5-1.
  12. And a base hit makes it 4-1 Lookouts. Gallagher is out, Vazquez is in. 5.2 IPs, 7BBs, 3Ks, 4R, I think 7H but not sure, responsible for the baserunner on. Sing is now out and Gary Cates is in for the doubleswitch.
  13. 2 runs now. Infield single, another single had runners at the corners, wild pitch scores a run. Sac bunt, now runners at 2nd & 3rd, one out.
  14. Miguel Negron was replaced by Brandon Sing in RF between innings and the Lookouts broadcasters are convinced that Negron is either getting promoted or has been traded. Sounds like it's speculation vs. a rumor, but I thought I'd throw it out there.
  15. Glad it wasn't a more serious injury (though it looked plenty painful); he was limping pretty badly as he left the field Saturday.
  16. Looks like the DJaxx internet feed is still down. Hopefully Ron will let us know if it comes back up. You can listen to the Lookouts broadcast through their website at http://www.lookouts.com/.
  17. Veal in the Team Photo in today's hot sheet: Donald Veal, lhp, Cubs (High Class A Daytona): Maybe someday, all those walks (20 in 35 innings in the Florida State League, 60 overall in 109 IP) will come back to haunt Veal. That day hasn't arrived yet, as his 1.03 ERA in the FSL attests. He's been less hittable for Daytona (.164) than he was in the Midwest League (.179). http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/prospects/hotsheet/261998.html Hill in at #8, which I think was posted already in the Hill thread. Holliman not-so-hot: Mark Hollimon, rhp, Cubs (High Class A Daytona) Not to be confused with Tigers shortstop Michael Hollimon, Mark had a nifty 1.10 ERA in June, but has upped that figure to 12.12 in July. His 9-11 strikeout-walk ratio probably has something to do with it. Haven't seen his name spelled "Hollimon" before. :?
  18. You can try openseats.com. It may be worth putting a call in to the box office (assuming you can't stop by in person) before buying third-party tickets if there's a surcharge involved.
  19. Chris Walker (Chris had been out of the lineup with a strained hip flexor until he appeared in the continued game on Saturday as a PR for Dopirak and scored the winning run. He started the second game on Saturday) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v488/laserena06/baseball/Minor%20Leagues/Diamond%20Jaxx%20072006/DSC00053.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v488/laserena06/baseball/Minor%20Leagues/Diamond%20Jaxx%20072006/DSC00055.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v488/laserena06/baseball/Minor%20Leagues/Diamond%20Jaxx%20072006/DSC00056.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v488/laserena06/baseball/Minor%20Leagues/Diamond%20Jaxx%20072006/DSC00063.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v488/laserena06/baseball/Minor%20Leagues/Diamond%20Jaxx%20072006/DSC00065.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v488/laserena06/baseball/Minor%20Leagues/Diamond%20Jaxx%20072006/DSC00064.jpg

  21. Heh. Eric Patterson & Andy Shipman easily win that contest. I obviously should have taken more Random Fan Cam shots. It was hot!
  22. I was playing around with some different settings and my battery was about dead.
