  1. If the discussion is Gallagher and a PTBNL for Ichiro, I'm all for it. The team improved OBP this offseason, but not significantly. Ichiro would be enough to make it significant. When Izturis loses his job at SS to Theriot, it will be even more significant.
  2. You must be so proud.
  3. Dude! Neifi won't play everyday. Cesar Izturis will.

    Keepers

Okay, I've set my keeper list. C- 1b- 2b- Dan Uggla (exempt) SS- Jimmy Rollins 3b- Scott Rolen OF- Rocco Baldelli (exempt) OF- OF- U- Jonny Gomes SP- Roy Halladay SP- Jeremy Bonderman SP- Ervin Santana (exempt) SP- Matt Cain (exempt) SP- Adam Wainwright (exempt)
  5. I was just looking at that. Something is definitely wrong with pitching points. If they aren't wrong, Bonderman and Halladay almost add up to 2500 by themselves.
  6. The '85 Super Bowl team doing the Super Bowl Shuffle. It will really be a big hit with Bears fans since the Bears will have a commanding lead at that point and time.
  7. The wife told me that she was watching Keith Olberman's show and heard that John Kerry was stepping into the ring in this fight. Good for him. Something needs to happen soon. We are less than 2 months from baseball season.
  8. That's about right for the early bird price. Through my cable company, I would get it just a bit cheaper than that (139.99) with early bird rate and repeat customer.
  9. This isn't meant as a feel sorry post for Cardinal fans, but I really don't understand what they are doing this offseason. The Cardinals just came off a World Series win in a brand new baseball park. While the Preston Wilson signing is a good one in terms of years and dollars, where are the big money players to keep the team competitive this coming year and beyond? I agree that Reyes and Wainright are better prospects than the Cubs guys of last year (exception for Hill), but they are still extremely thin in the rotation and will now also be thin in the pen once they remove Wainright from the equation. It's as though they are cutting back on the budget rather than showing their fans the appreciation they deserve for filling that brand new stadium all season long and a World Series win. If I was a Cub fan and this was taking place, I'd be outraged. Instead, the Cubs throw more money out there and still don't win a World Series. At least they pretend like they care about the fans. :joker:
  10. Can you get MLB EI with basic cable (or whatever they call it at DirecTV)?
  11. Well, I won't win any contests in computer speak. After networking my computers to share program files on XP Pro, I don't care to ever have to deal with anything that involves networks ever again. If Bill Gates was in the room at the time, I would have punched him in the face. Since I have never attempted to access a site from two different computers within my network at the same time, I can only assume whether it can or can't be done. But, I'm imagining that one computer is actually accessing the site and the others are logging in as the computer that is accessing the site. Therefore, ony 1 actual login to the site. But, maybe that's not right either.
  12. Yeah, I'm guessing that the difference here is "the network". It's one line coming in, but all those computers are tied together by that one line. I would find it reasonable that I would be able to watch the same thing on all of the computers on my network by accessing the computer that is showing that game, which is easily done on my network.
  13. It has to be something to do with the fact the computers are networked. However, I've never tried something like that. I can say that each networked computer does have it's own IP address. I would think it would be possible to purchase a game to view on one computer and then be able to view that game throughout the network.
  14. Where are you located? If you are in the western burbs, I'll consider it. If you are IN Chicago, the drive might be a bit too much. In other words, I'd do the drive if it was 35 hours, but not 36. :D
  15. Out of curiosity, and I'm not saying I would do this, but........ Can you have DirecTV and cable at the same time? Not necessarily every tv, but maybe one tv hooked up to DirecTV and all the others still on cable. And if this can be done, can you go with the smallest cable package and still get MLB EI?
  16. I would have spit coke out of my nose if I was drinking it when I read this. My disappointment that Izturis is on the roster continues into 2007. Maybe I need someone to be the whipping boy. It's like I can't even root for the guy to be good because I detest him that much. Maddux for Izturis. Unbelievable. It's a good thing I was away on business for nearly two weeks when that trade went down. Someone might have gotten hurt. It's like "crappy shortstops" are a required roster spot with this club. Big masher at 1b? Check! Speedy CFer? Check! Crappy SS? Check!
  17. I haven't heard the words web tv in a long time. It might still be out there, but at this point probably quite obsolete.
  18. *sigh* We shouldn't have to switch. Some people CAN'T switch. Goony just told DirecTV to shove it, so it sounds like he, I and a few others don't want to switch. My employee isn't going to switch. She's pissed about this. I have a feeling many won't be making the switch.
  19. So, from the first article, we conclude that MLB stood to make 70m from just the cable companies, who knows how much more from DirecTV, Dish, ATT and Verizon, possibly reaching more than 100m a year. Yet, exclusively through DirecTV (which shuts out many people who will not switch companies), they stand to make less by receiving 100m. 100m and your product reaching nearly every home or 100m and your product reaching only a small percentage of homes? Seems pretty logical to reach the correct conclusion, but it is Bud Selig we are talking about. Has Bud Selig ever sat and watched the NFL channel? The name should be changed to ACATT. All Cheerleaders All The Time. Since baseball doesn't have cheerleaders, will the MLB channel become All Mascots All The Time? I'm amazed this is actually happening. I'm guessing Bud and his boys all took out a little stock in DirecTV prior to this agreement. And I hope this backfires in a huge way. Unfortunately, it probably won't.
  20. MLB EI allowed viewers of whatever cable/satellite provider the opportunity to view local programming that you cannot get out of market. I specifically signed up for MLB EI to see all the Cub games. That there are other out of market games available, I generally watched a lot of those games, too. This opportunity is being taken away from me, UNLESS I want to switch to the only company that now provides it. I shouldn't have to do that. This is the 21st century. Communications should be taking a step forward, not a step back. This is a huge step back. Why anyone would think this is a good thing really concerns me. The biggest concern should be for those people who cannot get DirecTV at all. The same could be said if the shoe was on the other foot and you cannot get cable in your area. The "I only care about me and no one else" attitude is really scary, IMO.
  21. It sucks that you could only buy Martha Stewart clothes at K-Mart?
  22. But EI does exist, and it's existed on cable for years. I really don't understand how you can't comprehend this. When Sunday Ticket started it was directv exclusive and it made sense that directv got to negotiate exclusive rights for the longterm. EI started with all sorts of outlets, and would be cutting back. Whenever you reduce consumer options that already exist, you are treading on dangerous waters. What's EI? Extraterrestrial Intelligence.
  23. I think the team was respectable on defense last year. What I felt they were not good at was fundamentals. A lapse in fundamentals is also an error, but they don't always get recorded as such. If someone isn't backing up a play, the guy who is out of position will usually not be charged for an error since he was nowhere in sight. But, fundamentally, he helped create that error. Missing the cut off man, throwing to the wrong base, lollypopping a throw that allows a runner to "steal" a base, being out of position on defense, crashing into each other on a fly ball are all "fundamental" lapses. I have no idea how you would measure "fundamental" lapses, except to actually see the games and count how many times something that shouldn't happen happens. Actual errors are tied into fundamentals, and while more measureable, errors definitely do not tell the entire story.
  24. His response is weird. I think he meant to say somewhere in his response that "if" Soriano played CF, but it didn't end up that way. He says "If Soriano plays RF" twice.
  25. None taken. But I wouldn't hold my breath for an official announcement entitled "How We Screwed Up MLB EI." What?
