  1. Croatia's midfield will break them down. 2-0. Mexico facing fines for "PUTO" chant. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/world-cup/10910538/World-Cup-2014-Brazil-and-Mexico-face-action-for-homophobic-chanting-by-fans.html Finally.
  2. Understatement of the day. Can't wait!
  3. Following the TV ratings - ESPN and Univision are averaging around 3 and 4 million per game respectively. The US game hit 16, the Mexico-Brazil hit 12. Can't help but think that the reliance on Mexican-American money by El Tri is going to be a real problem for them in 10-15 years. The support they get from first generation immigrants is going to be diverted to the US as second generation kids grow up. There's already more crossover between El Tri and the US among mexican americans than people think. A lot of people follow both, if not support both.
  4. He's look nice in front of Deuce in lieu of Jozy. Too bad we missed out on that bidding process.
  5. The quality and pace of play has been incredible. Beyond that, having it in an accessible time zone is the biggest game-changer, I think. I'm already bummed out about ESPN losing the World Cup to FOX. Russia 2018 is going to be a big step down in quality.
  6. MLS provided two of the 5 best goals in this tournament so far.
  7. Ochoa is a free agent, iirc. He's cashing checks on this performance.
  8. Anybody else getting tired of being the office "soccer guy" at their place of work now that people are interested? I had to explain goal differential, what Jozy's injury means and why our coach doesn't think we can win while I was filling up my water bottle in the break room.
  9. http://www.americansoccernow.com/articles/asn-morning-read-usa-ghana-john-brooks Jurgen: “With Matt, it’s no problem. We made the right decision. And he didn’t get any injuries, so he’s all fine.”
  10. Been thinking a lot about the game (obviously). I think you have to start Zusi over Bedoya. He brings almost as much defensively and his set piece delivery is so much better. Without Jozy, we need to convert unrealistically high percentages of our set pieces and Zusi is the only guy who can deliver strikes consistently. John Brooks, man. That dude. We've all (US fans everywhere) been excited about the Germans since they started committing, but for totally legit reasons, they've taken a while to really entrench themselves in the American fan consciousness. Jones has by being a warrior who goes all out every time he wears the jersey. Johnson has by being the best player in the pool at whichever position he happens to be playing. John Brooks is a guy who, if he stays healthy and works hard, will probably be a 100 cap/3-4 World Cup cycles player for the US. That puts him in the group with our legends. That's Lalas/Bocanegra/Balboa territory. He's quiet and laid back off the field, but for him to really introduce himself to the US like this, when everyone doubted his inclusion...just a really special way to start your career internationally. He was officially cap-tied in his first world cup game where he scored a game-winning goal against the team that haunts our collective nightmares. Beyond the goal, he was a monster cleaning up crosses and cutting out passes at the top of the 18. I'm not saying he's a starter going forward. I'm just saying that I'm glad he chose to represent his American side. One of the most talented CB prospects in the world not only committed to the US, but he's bounced back from a bad debut and lived up to the hype.
  11. Tim Howard: too many touches. @Ben_Jata: #USA Touches/Pass % Howard 61/63% Beasley 60/74% Cameron 53/55% Bradley 52/81% Jones 50/67% Johnson 44/73% Dempsey 40/62% Beckerman 39/85%
  12. Oh I get it! Because soccer is not for men who like pictures like that. It is for homosexual men, who would prefer pictures of scantily clad hunks and are naturally inferior to, and targets for mockery by, superior, heterosexual men like him. OMC never misses a chance to partake in dog whistle bigotry.
  13. Should be pointed out, John Brooks has made multiple Bundesliga teams of the week for a reason. He's young and inconsistent but he's an elite talent.
  14. Too mentally drained for analysis. Thank you soccer for breaking off some karma for us.
  15. Yep. As evidence I present the fact that through the first half of one of the biggest USA soccer games in 4 years there are only like 2 pages of content, even from you soccer guys. Because there's nothing to talk about!!! Sport is a snooze fest 98 percent of the time. Yeah, it's weird. Almost as if people are watching the game.
  16. The rumors of Ghana loving aimless crosses were true.
  17. That's not good is it? Better than a tear.
  18. Man. Sad. Well, we find out who Aron Johansson is.
  19. AAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH
  20. Alex Morgan & Sydney Leroux are the two greatest Americans. https://mobile.twitter.com/alexmorgan13/status/478654140709478400/photo/1
  21. It doesn't help that he looks really weird in a suit.
  22. I'm feeling feelings I didn't know I could still feel as a sports fan. I've never lost sleep before a game but I did last night.
  23. Today is Tupac's birthday. We won't lose on Pac's birthday.
  24. Excuse me? http://www.mlssoccer.com/sites/league/files/2010/Dempsey%20fish%202.png
  25. No. It's a new development but it killed in the last warm up friendly. Expect it to stick.
