  1. I don't want a foreign coach, because even though Guus Hiddink and Marcelo Bielsa are highly regarded and available, I think the American soccer landscape is so weird that you have to be all in for it to work. I don't see those guys going all in on the whole US Soccer thing. They're career mercenaries. My list: 1 - Arena 2 - Kreis 3 - Everyone else: Vermes/Kinnear/Schmid/Marsch/Heaps/Former American Player Now Coach X Kreis, Arena and Bob Bradley are the three MLS coaches that I noticed legitimately schooling the opposing managers in big games. That's hardly gospel, but those are the guys who's teams were prepared and over achieved consistently in big games. Interestingly, Kreis is the only guy I've seen totally whip Bruce Arena in a big MLS game. This is all anecdotal and I'm hardly a scout. Dream scenario, you pry Earnie Stewart away from AZ and make him technical director. Build the rest from there. That'd be tough for him to walk away from/into. I would love for him, a guy who knows the American system and the Dutch system inside and out, to figure out the best of both worlds over the next decade.
  2. Sure. He's a very good coach. He wouldn't be my top choice necessarily, but it's always kind of been understood that he'll be the USMNT coach at some point. He's as good as any MLS manager who would be up for it outside of Arena who probably doesn't want to work for Sunil Gulati again.
  3. Grant Wahl with the high heat reporting: http://www.si.com/planet-futbol/2015/10/21/jurgen-klinsmann-us-soccer-jay-berhalter-jason-kreis-vieira-nycfc So...what is Jurgen doing then? Just losing games? Not re-working our youth dev model? Cool. Cool cool cool. Fired. That article also has a tidbit about Kreis and NYCFC parting ways and Patrick Viera coming in to coach. Good to see that club is as expensive a disaster as I'd figure it would be. Some MLS club will be very lucky to get Kreis who is an unfortunate victim of outside ownership not understanding MLS even a little bit but still dictating terms. This is Red Bulls firing Bruce Arena after one season all over again.
  4. Not German enough, not in the Regionalliga; JK won't cap him. Yeah, you're right. Wondo def needs more caps.
  5. Cool USA stuff in France: Bob Bradley is in talks to manage Le Havre and this dude is the next hype dual national: http://www.americansoccernow.com/articles/here-s-a-name-to-know-theoson-jordan-siebatcheu
  6. [tweet] [/tweet] Bless you, coach. Bless you. I have no doubts that "under the right circumstances" just means "as long as Jurgen isn't my damn technical director." I think a viable, respected in-house candidate is meaningful for Sunil to make a change. They can't pay Jurgen everything they owe him in a buy out AND go on a global manager search during the European season. Jurgen isn't getting fired over the Confed's Cup and a friendly, but I do think if we get anything other than 6 points in the qualifiers next month, he will be fired. I know everyone thinks he's untouchable, but I don't think he is when it comes to [expletive] around with qualification. Sunil only gets touched if we're not in the World Cup and that's more than a real possibility with Jurgen. I will legit root for T&T to roll us at their place if it leads to Jurgen getting the boot. The way both teams are playing, that's a pretty likely scenario.
  7. MLS isn't good enough. It needs to be better before anyone should pay attention to it. and Great players shouldn't play in MLS because it's not good enough. So I guess MLS should just fold and go away? And then the national team that he occasionally covers goes further down the tubes and he can just cover Spain or Germany? I don't get it. Not that there's anything to get. That guy is so transparently trolling he makes Skip Bayless look like an amateur. I don't know why MLS is the only thing in his cross-hairs. If it's such an unworthy entity, you'd think he stop wasting his time covering it the same way he thinks we should stop wasting our time watching it. He's so stupid in how he approaches the league that any valid criticism he makes of the MLS/SUM's leadership and decision making is drowned out because anyone with critical thinking skills can't take him seriously as a pundit. It's just weird and I think it's only published on deadspin because MLS fans set the bar for overly sensitive fan boy defensiveness and it's fun to see the comments. Edit - I just gave him a click. Maybe this isn't as self aware as I thought? Maybe he is a moron? I don't watch his thing that I think is bad but I definitely, definitely know it's bad. Alrighty. Here's the article. Everyone should check it out, if only because Giovinco's goal is truly something to see. http://screamer.deadspin.com/sebastian-giovinco-is-way-too-good-for-mls-1736721443

  9. Dude. [tweet] [/tweet] PEOPLE DIDN'T EVEN KNOW WHAT SOCCER WAS IN 1957-1965. This is unbelievable. What will it take?!
  10. Borussia Monchengladbach reporting Fab is out for this weekend's game with a thigh injury incurred while on international duty. US Soccer twitter is lit right now.
  11. We've had the pleasure of watching Fab for more than a few years now. He's never not been gassed after 75 minutes of 80+ degree heat. Ever. Jurgen is mental.
  12. Jurgen says he "had a very severe word with Fabian" and sent him home. Losing the locker room.
  13. US fans hate Klinsmann because he won't stop lying. http://www.sbnation.com/soccer/2015/10/11/9496293/usmnt-fans-hate-jurgen-klinsmann-because-he-wont-stop-lying?utm_campaign=sbnation&utm_content=article%3Atop&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter

  15. Jurgen just blamed the refs for losing the gold cup and even having to play this game. His stated goals were: Win gold cup. Fail. Qualify for Olympics. In process of failing. Go to confederation cup. Fail. Those were his stated, tangible goals. Doesn't even touch his intangible goals around style of play and bringing in young players. Which he has failed at completely. There is no defense of this guy based in reality. If you just like him and think he's cool, then whatever.
  16. Welp
  17. If we do lose, I hope it's embarrassing. 4-0, 5-0 type stuff.
  18. What the hell is happening?
  19. This is going to be an all time bad sports day for me or you guys depending on the baseball. That sucks.
  20. Doing Less With More: The Jurgen Years
  21. I'm also at the point where I'd be surprised if Miazga/CCV isn't the best central defense pairing we've ever had within 6 years.
  22. I think Jordan Morris might be really good. He's so active, can finish, can play out wide or centrally and is fast and strong as hell. If he looks this out of place against CONCACAF U-23 level, he's wasted the last two years at Stanford (from a professional athlete standpoint). The Sounders could have really used him this year too. A poor man's Alexis Sanchez at this point.
  23. No excuses. Too easy to spot.
  24. Fab back.
