  1. Griezmann should pull a durant and sign wth Real. Gotta be tired of CR & Pepe beating him in finals.
  2. [tweet] [/tweet] http://stream1.gifsoup.com/view1/3517311/diddy-dance-o.gif
  3. Caleb Porter, Bruce Arena, Jason Kreis... As long as they understand the strange world of American soccer, I'm cool.
  4. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/jurgen-klinsmann-moves-ahead-race-8380775 https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2016/jul/08/jurgen-klinsmann-oliver-bierhoff-next-england-manager God is real.
  5. Neither of us have any statistical or research evidence to back this up, but I think the opposite. The Cubs rebuilt better and faster than almost anyone and it wasn't luck. It was good management and huge resources. Basketball you can rebuild with one player.
  6. Two more in the West Ham friendly last night. http://www.soundersfc.com/post/2016/07/05/highlights-seattle-sounders-fc-vs-west-ham-united-friendly?autoplay=true He hot.
  7. I thought they would have been favorites in the West (at least) had Durant stayed in OKC and gotten Horford to come there as rumored. Me too. That's the crazy part. I think they were the best squad in the west if he stayed. Of course, it wouldn't have been a sure thing.
  8. It wasn't my intention to make this about soccer economics specifically. Just pointing out that in unrestricted capitalist leagues, the same teams win every time. Clearly. Pointing out Leicester as evidence that it doesn't matter is counter-productive because as someone pointed out, they didn't do by spending nearly as much as their rich competitors. They were classic outliers. It also ignores the hegemony in the other major leagues with the same ceiling-less payroll. It also ignores the hegemony of 4 clubs throughout Premier League history. Bolton and Leicester. That's it, outside of United, Chelsea, City and Arsenal. If the NBA didn't have a salary cap, the Lakers would never be bad. You think it's bad how players flock to handful of destinations now?
  9. An uncapped league in a sport where the top few players carry as much influence as the NBA would be one of the few outcomes worse for competition than the current NBA. How? Every owner is a billionaire and could afford much higher salaries. If Sacramento can offer 50 or 60 million per year, they'd be able to get a superstar. You must not follow soccer.
  10. YASSS http://www.sbnation.com/2016/7/4/12093986/russell-westbrook-oklahoma-city-thunder-kevin-durant-silver-lining? THE YEAR OF BESTBROOK IS AT HAND.

  13. Apologies to our guy, wvcbxl, but I'm psyched about this Wales win. They can totally take Portugal. Get to a final and see what happens. And if Portugal wins? We get CR7 in an international final. Win-win.
  14. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/06/28/who-should-be-the-next-england-manager-telegraph-football-writer/ Couple things. First, every recent England manager should sue that person for defamation for implying Jurgen is more tactially astute than them. That's offensive. That's insulting. Second, Fabio horsefeathering Capello was your coach when the US hired Jurgen. A man who ticks every one of the above boxes (except maybe infectious personality) and is ACTUALLY a tactical expert. If he couldn't done, I'm not sure who will. This is some of the dumbest analysis I've ever read. What possesses these people to have hot coaching takes re: a man who's teams they've never watched is beyond me.

  16. It is possible, he might be successful in a different situation. Yes, maybe. Thing is, he's nowhere near the best qualified man for the job and he's only a candidate because they're stupid. England's biggest weakness as a soccer country is how insular and ignorant of everything that happens outside of their bubble they are. The fact that they think he's a good candidate because "look at the great things he's done with the US" says it all. Bayern - unmitigated horsefeathers show disaster. Toronto FC Technical Director - see above. USMNT - on balance, no progress and no regression. A total "meh" with nothing but spin, lies and arrogance to season the completely bland meal he's cooking. Germany 2006 - criminally underrated going into the tournament. That team had plenty of talent including some legends like Kahn, Ballack, Klose, Scweiny and Lahm. He gets way too much credit for finishing third at home.
  17. Let's get this baby to critical mass. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/article-3664879/Jurgen-Klinsmann-pick-replace-Roy-Hodgson-favoured-Englishman-turn-foreign-coach.html
  18. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/international/why-england-should-chase-jurgen-klinsmann-to-take-over-from-roy-hodgson-a7095491.html Hahahahahahahahahahajahajahahahahahahahahaaaaaaa
  19. For the record, I do not operate any of the Wolf Stansson parody twitter accounts that are currently having their best day ever.
  20. You guys think Jamie Vardy voted for Brexit? I think so.
  21. Thought we were better overall, honestly. Missing the finishing touch. Time to figure out the future and how the emerging guys fit in.
  22. Mmmmmmmm. http://espn.go.com/espnw/sports/article/16393285/uswnt-striker-christen-press-talks-body-made-soccer-espn-body-issue
  23. I think the list begins and ends with Bruce Arena at this point in qualifying. 2 year deal. Understanding of a permanent replacement search after the World Cup.
  24. http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/soccer/2016/06/23/jurgen-klinsmann-usmnt-southampton-coach/86278518/ I've been hurt before, but it would be very Jurgen to bolt on a perceived but not actual high note. Please, god, let this happen.
  25. What a cold world. Probably for the best, but it still sucks that it's come to this.
