  1. It's science.
  2. I've caught myself doing that a lot since we won the lottery. I became a Rose guy so I immediately started trying to find flaws with Beasley. Honestly there isn't much to dislike objectively.
  3. SCHWEINY
  4. OJ Mayo is a fantastic prospect, but I think taking him over Beasley would be over thinking things.
  5. Boy that Babe Ruth sure was a character : ) Chief. Or Champ. Or pahtnah. Whatever.
  6. If our non-keepers are still our property until the draft, I'm putting Randy Moss on the trade block.
  7. I would've laughed at Ruud Gullit 6 months ago. After seeing what he has done with the Galaxy development-wise and tactically, I say offer him as much as it takes. Good thing you didn't. Otherwise you would have been like me. I dvr'd the Italy-Spain game and at about the 75 minute mark of the US crap fest, good 'ole JP Dellacamera let me know that it was 0-0 going into extra time. Thanks, JP. So after that I decide, "Oh well, I know it's going into extra time, so I'll just go hit the pool and let the dvr take care of extra time and I'll just come back and watch that." Half and hour later I'm swimming and listening to The Baseball Show on ESPN Radio and they drop the final result on me.
  8. Depends on how physical the game is. Injury stoppage happens in all games, but the Italians certainly milk it.
  9. It was a toss up. Spain has looked better thus far in the tournament but has a bad track record against the Italians and in major tournaments in general. They are pretty equal in talent, but Spain is younger with more attacking style while Italy is older and more defensive (although their defense has lost more than a step since '06 and they missed Cannavaro a lot). If you would have asked me who I thought would win I would have said Italy. If you asked who I thought the better team was I'd have said Spain.
  10. What's his name, the president at the time wanted Hiddink. The board wanted an American who they didn't have to pay and who would play ball; Hiddink wanted complete control over the player development and to be able to pick coaches all the way to the youth level. At least that's what I heard.
  11. Guus was our first choice coach before Arena, but disagreements over the amount of control caused him to turn the offer down. F*$ USSF. It's the dutch. It's typical. Tomorrow, the quarter finals against Russia. Russia is no joke. I think they have more than a small chance in that game. If anyone will know how to play the Dutch, it'll be Guus. Thank you...thank you very much ladies and germs.
  12. Check this out:
  13. Kenny Cooper had sex with Bob Bradley's wife. GOALKEEPERS: Brad Guzan (Chivas USA: 1/1 SO), Dominic Cervi (out of contract: 0/0), Chris Seitz (Real Salt Lake: 0/0) DEFENDERS: Carlos Bocanegra (out of contract: 12/1), Dan Califf (FC Midtjylland: 1/0), Jay DeMerit (Watford FC: 0/0), Drew Moor (FC Dallas: 0/0) Oguchi Onyewu (Standard de Liege: 8/0), Heath Pearce (Hansa Rostock: 1/0) MIDFIELDERS: DaMarcus Beasley (Glasgow Rangers: 15/4), Michael Bradley (SC Heerenveen: 1/1), Sacha Kljestan (Chivas USA: 0/0), Eddie Lewis (Derby County: 18/2), Danny Szetela (Brescia: 0/0), John Thorrington (Chicago Fire: 0/0) FORWARDS: Freddy Adu (SL Benfica: 1/0), Chad Barrett (Chicago Fire: 0/0), Chris Rolfe (Chicago Fire: 0/0) WTF is with those forwards?! ---------------------Guzan--------------------- ----Boca----DeMerit----Gooch----Pearce---- ----------------------Bradley------------------- ----Szetela----Kljestan----Adu---Beasley----- -----------------------Rolfe---------------------- That would be a fun lineup. Well, the most fun lineup that is. There isn't a striker on that team (Chad Barrett will hopefully break his leg getting off the plane).
  14. http://www.sportinglife.com/football/news/story_get.cgi?STORY_NAME=international_feed/08/06/20/SOCCER_Fra-_Rennes.html&TEAMHD=soccer Hmm...I don't know how legit that is. Edit - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stade_Rennais_FC He's in their Wiki, so maybe it's real.

  16. I am a Sacha Kljestan fan and it's not just the hair (though it helps). His parents are from Croatia and he has that Croatian flair and technical ability. He better feature this Sunday.
  17. I've flipped to the Fire-Chivas game twice tonight and I've seen Chad Barrett miss an empty net when Guzan went way off his line and block a teammates shot when they were two on one against the keeper. I hope his transfer to Norway works out and they ask him to play for their national team after three years, because I don't want him anywhere near a US kit. Also, I'm either too lazy or not dick enough to go back and see who disagreed with me, but I was right about Ronaldo to Madrid. He just came out and said he wants it, it's his dream and now Man U needs to name their price because he wants to go. This is a kick in the nuts for Sir Alex. He clearly wants Liverpool's titles record and a few more champions leagues to cement his place as the greatest British if not the greatest manager of all time. He also clearly built those dreams around Ronaldo. From a neutral perspective, the Glazers would be crazy not to sell him. Combine their debt, all the players they could potentially buy, the record fee he'd draw and the fact that he is a whiny brat who doesn't want to be there and it's an easy decision. Players get hurt, players get too big of egos, players become distractions and as great as he is, he isn't worth it at this point.
  18. Sorry dog.
  19. I don't see how losing to Germany could be seen as underachieving. Just a tough draw.
  20. Not falling could have just possibly cost Portugal it's first Major tournament championship and Christiano Ronaldo's opportunity to set himself up as a footballing immortal. Not that I think he should have flopped, but I can certainly understand why someone would. http://www.soccerbyives.net/soccer_by_ives/2008/06/euro-2008-germa.html#more

  22. Suck it, Ronny.
  23. The point was your attempt to characterize it as similar to watching HRs holds no water. Are you really that ignorant? I don't think so. You seem smart enough to realize I was comparing two arguments that people use to criticize two sports and that each of those arguments are valid but reflect on the individual and not the sport as a whole. Apparently I was wrong though. Maybe I am ignorant. But the comparison was completely irrelevent to the discussion. Would you have understood clearer if I had just said hate the playa not the game?

  25. It really has nothing to do with Bonds. Watching your homeruns is more akin to the goal scoring celebrations. Flopping like a whiney baby and faking injury, for 2 seconds or 2 minutes, is pathetic. You're good at missing points.
