He's just not a great player. I don't think anything necessarily had to happen to make that true.

Any team that gives Freddy space is going to make him look good. Any team that doesn't, makes him look bad. I don't know if it's lack of playing time, but I'm leaning towards him just being a flawed player who isn't a first choice international. Quaranta is a nice player. He isn't going to unseat anyone though. Robbie Rogers should now be the first left wing off the bench. One of the only true wingers in our player pool. Max Bretos, who is usually cringe-worthy, said after the Quaranta goal that you can immediately recognize the two guys on the field who just played in the confed's cup. Totally true. They were men among boys out there, playing at a higher level than anyone.

Unfortunately for them, Dempsey will still be Dempsey in 2010. And probably 2014. Then factor in young guns like Mikkel Diskerud and various other next great hypes and I really don't see anyone on tonight's squad, other than Davies, ever being first or even second choice for the MNT. They're depth. Btw, where the hell is Danny Szetela?

Is this the book you're talking about? DVD Documentary. It's awesome, other than the opening part which features Hugo Sanchez talking about whoever founded football should be remembered with names like DaVinci, Marconi and Michaelangelo. Of course he didn't know Marconi's name. He just said, "The guy who invented the radio."

From what I've read, unless they get creative they won't have room for two max contracts. So many teams will have a ton of cap space next summer and the ones that don't get LeBron/Wade/Amare/Bosh will go crazy to make sure they don't strike out. We absolutely need to find a taker for Deng to ensure that we'd have enough cap room for two max deals. They've tried. They were offering Tyrus and Deng to anyone who would listen before the draft. There's a reason nothing happened.

Salmons can't catch and shoot, which is bad for a SG, but he and Hinrich can man it well enough. All of this should lead everyone to conclude it's just going to mean D Rose gets the ball in his hands in Wadeian proportions. Fine by me.

So you're saying he's black, a shooting guard and has range. He can also pass better, play markedly better defense and "taller version" undersells it. He's 6 inches taller. They really aren't very similar. I've been saying for a year now. I'd love Joe Johnson.

This is a fantastic move. The cap space could facilitate a big trade in-season. It forces Derrick's development as a late-game closer and now he'll have the ball in his hands even more.

French, Dutch and German clubs are in the mix with rumors of a 3 million Euro bid from Hamburg being the leader. As for Castillo, meh. He's depth I guess. Boca is now first choice out left and for back up I'd have to see more of him to slot him in front of Bornstein, a Mexican-American who didn't betray us first and Pearce. Hell, I'd rather play Cherundolo at rb and move Spector over if we had to. Btw, props to you, USS, for driving the early Spector band wagon. He is excellent.
