  1. Hahaha, what a jag! Not only does he have a tough enough mountain to climb for playing time on a squad with Robinho, Tevez, Santa Cruz and Adebayor, but then he does something like that.
  2. It's absolutely incredible. When they showed the rosters pregame I thought to myself, wow, that's not a good team. Yet somehow they pulled it out. They are a really unimpressive squad. Foster is a joke. I think it's down to Sir Alex, Rooney seemingly deserving his reputation and luck. I love Anderson though. One of my favorite players these days. I don't think it's too early to predict Chelsea and Barcelona are the two best squads in the world. Chelsea were almost flawless against Spurs. A well-oiled machine.
  3. No surgery for Jermaine Jones.
  4. That's weird.
  5. Thomas Muller, the young Bayern Munich striker, scored 2 at the weekend and 2 today. He is a seriously, seriously good young player. He's got it all. I don't think it's out of the question to group him with Pato, Aguero and the like in terms of special young forwards.
  6. If he's not back for January camp, he won't ever wear the US shirt.
  7. http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/blog.php?b=6584 Jack Warner conspiracy article. Amusing, probably a lot of truth to it.
  8. It looks like my dream of a Mexico v Argentina playoff is dying. That'd be some fun stuff is Mexico was on top of their game.
  9. To be fair, it was pretty odd that FIFA approved a one-time switch to allow Clint to play sweeper for T&T tonight. Unexpected. When Landon slipped that pass back to Clark I sat forward in my chair and thought to myself, "Rico can rip it. I think this is going in." Very nice strike.
  10. The lineup: -----------------------TH-------------------------- --JS----------OO--------------CB-------------JB-- --CD-------MB----------------RC-------------LD-- -------------JA--------------CD------------------- Reserves 6-Cherundolo 7-Holden 11-Ching 14-Torres 15-Marshall 16-Feilhaber 18-Guzan
  11. http://www.majorleaguesoccertalk.com/ I can't call bs loud enough.
  12. So Platini decided to stop talking and decided to do something about it? Crazy.
  13. Bradley can't play with the ball at his feet. Having him and Jones severely limits our attack to long balls, the counter or playing through the wings. We need at least one cm who can hold the ball and dictate pace/passes.
  14. How bull crap is it that South America only gets 4 guaranteed and 1 playoff spot. Take a spot from Asia and give them another slot. Oh that is awesome. That's the thing. He's world class when his defense is organized in front of him and he can just be the athletic stopper. When the form falls apart, like on the first goal, he gets caught out. Plus plus. Also, let's talk about this. When Jermaine Jones finally suits up, I think he's got to take Jr's place. He is by far the better ball winner and has a fantastic knack for reading the game and breaking up plays. I also think that pairing JJ with someone like Feilhaber, Adu or Clint in the CAM role is a way better tactic than the double destroyer. This long ball garbage and the counter can't be our only options. We need to be able to play through the middle. Unfortunately I don't ever see Sr benching Jr and in the past I've been able to live with it because I believe in Michael as a player for both now and the future, but South Africa is looming and it's time to field our best XI no matter what. Development is no longer any kind of priority.
  15. http://www.sportingnews.com/blog/The_Baseline/entry/view/33169/summertime_is_no_vacation_for_players_taking_on_new_roles#page_break 700 to 800 jumpers a day seems like a lot.
  16. Donovan and Jozy were good. Bradley was ok. Davies was ok, but was left begging on a few of those chances. That said, what he brings to this team is huge. This time last year he was nothing but a fringe prospect and we were just freeing ourselves from the chains of Eddie Johnson and Josh Wolff. Davies and Altidore give us something we've never had before; a strike pairing that can be dangerous against any squad on Earth. Clint. Clint, Clint, Clint... I love the dude, and I think he puts himself in more dangerous spots than anyone on this team with the exception of maybe Davies, but good lord he needs to finish. It's hard to be jumping for joy after he ties the game when he should have buried two before that. He's my guy, but in these crucial games, we can't waste chances. We could've easily won tonight 4-0 if everyone just does their jobs. Spec was bad tonight, but he still crosses a ball better than just about anyone in our player pool. Marshall was solid. Boca was playing on his heels like a slow guy who is in card danger. Which he is/was. Feilhaber did well with his touches. We attacked more through Landon and Clint, but when he got a touch, he was solid. Played some nice balls, directed traffic decently. Somethings up with Timmy. Hopefully he regains his mojo soon. He's been making some positioning mistakes for club and country since the Confed Cup. Missed Gooch big time. Boca at LB probably doesn't f up that clearance. Speaking of LB, from Gofftonight: Hopefully JJ is soon to follow.
  17. I dont know all the circumstances, but it seems like he may be using the threats as an excuse. He had already been replaced on FSC by Wynalda, and he had already lost a lot of sponsors. To the point that he was trying to get funds from some of his listeners. If I had to guess I would say he could not find any sponsors and had no more money and that is why his show is going off the air. I listen pretty much every day and I think reggie's got it. Unfortunately I really liked the show and there wasn't anything else like it out there in terms of a daily, good soccer show. This sucks. I downloaded today's podcast but haven't listened to it yet. wolf, what soccer podcasts are you listening to now? Ok, so apparently they are relaunching in some capacity. The site is blocked at work, but I'm going to check out www.worldfootballdaily.com when I get home. It's becoming apparent that this was entirely due to the effective advert boycott by the liverpool supporters group. It was egged on by Cohen's behavior as well. This whole thing looks bad for the WSD guys, but what do I care. The show entertains me.
  18. He's the guy who almost got in a fist fight with his teammate last weekend.
  19. Rolfe to Aalborg: http://web.mlsnet.com/news/mls_news.jsp?ymd=20090902&content_id=6763252&vkey=news_mls&fext=.jsp
  20. So the whole Ronaldo and Real Madrid thing? That wasn't tapping up?
  21. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=673135&sec=england&cc=5901 Harsh.
  22. Natural left back, has some friendly caps for Mexico, made a big move to Club America and struggled but has rebounded nicely on loan at Tigres. He's back with his coach from Santos, where he was noticed for El Tri. Natural left footer, gets forward, can get into the attack but needs to work on defending and gain some strength. Will probably be in Europe at some point. Better than any natural left back we've got at the moment, but it remains to be seen how he'll work in Bradley's system. I'm skeptical. Btw, Jermaine Jones is back in training. His paperwork still has yet to be processed by FIFA, but it should happen in time for the October q games.
  23. According to Ives it stemmed from getting pulled early in the second half two weeks ago. That dude needs to settle down.
  24. Adu loaned to Balensese or w/e. 7th in the league, play Benfica right after the international break.
  25. AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH
