  1. You can add Michael Parkhurst as well. That's right! May be able to add Oguchi Onyewu to the list if the Anderlecht interest turns into a transfer. Back to Belgium a few years older and many steps slower?
  2. You can add Michael Parkhurst as well. That's right! Gio Dos Santos to Real Mallorca. Don't know if that will help or hurt his work ethic, but Spain is obviously a great fit for him.
  3. I'd think there's still a small chance he joins Tottenham if they do end up selling Van der Vaart. He's going to Liverpool. This is all classic negotiation posturing. In the past 48 I've read multiple reports that Sunderland walked away too. They're all just taking advantage of the weak position Clint put Fulham in.
  4. Andy Carroll, who's potential now and production last season, is/was not equal to Jozy Altidore's, has been loaned to West Ham United with an option to buy.
  5. I don't want to be this guy (amateur media critic), but the Fox Soccer crew are terrible. Rob Stone, Warren Barton, Eric Wynalda and Brian McBride are all fine, but as the sum of their parts, they're still really bland and mediocre. FSC, NBC Sports and ESPN all have a better soccer crew. They were really going hard yesterday (I watched it this morning getting ready for work) about how cool it was that Sacha Kljestan is the lone American in the champions league and I'm screaming at my TV that Jermaine Jones is American. First, pointing out who the Americans are in a Champions League preview show is bush league and dumb. Second, if you're going to be bush league and dumb, be correct in what you say. It's very basic knowledge of a)the teams left in the competition and b) America's player pool. By the way, Ibrahim Affelay moved to Schalke. They're going to be a factor in whichever group they end up in. I'm excited to watch and see how far JJ can go. Also, Michael Bradley is out for a month with a strained quad, so we're going to have to play the qualifier in Jamaica without him.
  6. http://www.fulhamfc.com/news/2012/august/30/jol-closing-in-on-duo As I expected, re: Sunderland.
  7. The Internet has him to Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs. If either of those London clubs get him, they get my fandom.
  8. [expletive] is getting cray in England. Dembele, who is better than Modric, to Spurs for 15 mil pounds, Walcott rejected Arsenal's contract extension and is going to Liverpool or City and all is quiet on the Dempsey front.
  9. It's probably real, but I'm sure just Fulham using it to drive up Liverpool. That's where he's going. Fenway SG has tons of money right now after the Dodgers took all of Theo's horrible FA signings, Liverpool is about to sell Adam and Spearing. Clint wants to go to a big name club. If he does shock me and go to Sunderland, I hope he gets paid big time to do it.
  10. That's a must-win for Dallas against a team that has absolutely been rolling lately. Seattle, since replacing Fernandez with Tiffert and Montero started rolling, has been a juggernaut.
  11. The complaint was filed a month ago. Just now being reported. This is a bad combination of a media hound manager, stubborn club and horrible reporting.
  12. BeIn is now carried on Comcast.
  13. For those of us who dont get BeIn, no change. It's only a matter of time. GOLTV is dead. They'll replace it with BeIn.
  14. BeIn Sport acquired the right to all away US qualifiers. So not only are there no more closed circuit games, but they will be called in beautiful HD by Phil Schoen and Ray Hudson. I'm pretty happy with this.
  15. Message boards are the social medium of the future, bro.
  16. [expletive] Stan Van Gundy and his stupid, ugly Ron Jeremy face. http://aol.sportingnews.com/nba/story/2012-08-21/derrick-rose-injury-chicago-bulls-dwight-howard-lakers-trade-stan-van-gundy?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter
  17. Mo Edu will be joining Geoff Cameron at Stoke. This is fantastic for many reasons. 1) Premier League. Prior to that it was Ipswich I was reading, so this is an obviously better fit. B) Chemistry between Edu and Cameron getting reps in the spine of the team, 3) He is the ball winning midfielder that will play where they were playing Cameron. We need Cameron to play CB, which this move allows him to do.
  18. that's not really apples to apples since it's the biggest rivalry and viewership was dominated by fans who were likely supporting the other team. Okay, then pick a different friendly against Denmark or something, and compare that number to zero. US v Italy, similar time of day on ESPN 2, USA had 442,000 viewers. Women's friendlies have zero because no one televises them. http://www.sbnation.com/soccer/2012/3/2/2839811/usa-vs-italy-tv-ratings-espn2-news USA vs Ghana in the '10 WC knockout round got 14.9 million viewers. http://www.thewrap.com/tv/column-post/us-vs-ghana-was-most-watched-world-cup-mens-match-ever-18793 The Olympic Women's final vs Japan got 4.35M according to the previously cited Grant Wahl tweet. So yeah, that should end the conversation.
  19. Btw, to revisit last week's mnt v wnt popularity discussion, the friendly with Mexico outdid the women's final by over a million viewers.
  20. Great interview with Brian Scaretta who covers and knows more than probably anyone re: our youth prospects abroad: http://theshinguardian.com/2012/08/20/tsg-holds-court-on-yanks-abroad-with-the-hitman-brian-sciaretta-part-i-of-ii/#more-33331 Did not know Bayern offered John Anthony Brooks a pro contract last year.
  21. Tim Howard is the realness. The man is on some crrrraazy form right now.
  22. Last night I dreamed that Dempsey & Altidore were bought by Arsenal and Brek Shea was bought by Liverpool because that's the kind of thing I dream about, I guess.
  23. Hey look! Messi is in the box. Should I mark him? Nah. I'll do it later. I'll just hold my line for now.
  24. Joey doubled again today. Both very handy goals again. Clips here: http://www.noshortcorners.com/
  25. Post game, Jol admitted Clint didn't refuse to play. His agent strongly stated they want them to sell him soon so there's no chance of an injury causing the transfer to fall through. Same exact thing he pulled when United were trying to buy Berbatov. Not sure what it accomplishes.
