  1. Goodness gracious. Yet another "Derrick Rose is dumb" crack. Who cares? He's not dumb on the court. So the guy couldn't break xxx on his SAT. Big deal. If he's so smart on the court, why did he tear his ACL? i heard derrek lee took his ACT for him. I heard they found proof that Derrek Lee cheated on his act exam.
  2. Eddie Johnson wastes more chances than is remotely acceptable, but I've got to say, he put himself in a ton of dangerous positions over the last two games, his movement off the ball is improved and for whatever reason, he and Deuce combine really well together. He's not a starter in our pool, talent-wise and he's yet to do it against tough defenders, ever really, but he did well.
  3. Howard 6 Cherundolo 6 Cameron 6 Bocanegra 5 Pankhurst 5 Williams 7 Bradley 8 Zusi 7 Gomez 7 Johnson 7 Dempsey 8 Kljestan 7 (limited minutes) Corona n/a but I liked his determination and skill. Edu n/a didn't have much time & didn't have to do much.
  4. DEMPSEY-BRADLEY 2012
  5. Fire fans, cool article on Stoichkov on Grantland today: http://www.grantland.com/blog/the-triangle/post/_/id/39876/hristo-stoichkov
  6. My confidence level is at 7 but I'm still incredibly anxious. I'm thinking we'll see a 2-0/3-1 win.
  7. Yeah. Ouch. Still underachieving. Looks like the usual suspects in the hex.
  8. Maybe I went overboard. I was a little shocked at how controversial Kyle thought me basically posting what amounts to, "y'all, its good to hit good, pitch good & field good if your team wants to be good in the playoffs."
  9. Cardinals were 20th in defensive efficiency and 19th in bullpen K% this year. Yep. They also brought up Trevor Rosenthal, Shelby Miller, Traded for Mujica and moved Joe Kelly and Lance Lynn to the bullpen. They've committed 2 errors in these playoffs. They have the best obp in the playoffs. 1 of those things (the most important) is reflective of the season, 1 of them is a not unexpected outcome due to roster moves and one you can call a fluke but it's not exactly breaking new baseball ground to have a team have lucky timing with their defensive competency. Never mind, Kyle. You're right. It keeps happening because it's all luck. 9 playoff berths in 13 seasons is just sheer luck. That's sound. 1) Errors for measuring defense. 2) Citing postseason results to prove that postseason results are not a SSS fluke 3) Moving the goalposts between regular-season performance and playoff performance. Nope. You maybe wanted to read somewhere in my post that I claimed all of the Cardinals regular season performances were definitely predictive of their postseason success. But I didn't. In fact I qualified it pretty clearly with the sentence, "Get in, and have those three things happen." I understand though, you want to find an argument where there is none, or as you put it, "move the goal posts." Maybe you're bored, maybe you think your favorite team's lack of success compared to another person's favorite team's success somehow reflects on you so you have to devalue it somehow? Most likely you are that particularly common brand of internet personality that reads an angle into every interaction you have that can allow you to intellectually jerk yourself off to prove your own intelligence to yourself. My point is that every successful MLB team has things go right for them in the postseason and the fallacy that it ONLY happens to the Cardinals is annoying, pathetic and pointless. You shouldn't get so worked up about it. They aren't doing this to piss you off, you know and when you scream "PIXIE DUST" at the top of your lungs to anyone who listen, you only empower the dumb on my side of the fence to laugh and say, "NUH-UH DUMMY, IT'S OUR SUPERIOR CULTURE, NOT LUCK! WE DO IT RIGHT SO GOOD THINGS HAPPEN." which is, of course, equally stupid.

  11. 1914 game played on Antarctica by Ernest Shackleton's crew. http://www.slate.com/content/dam/slate/blogs/behold/2012/10/11/Shackleton/Shackleton2_Hurley.jpg http://www.slate.com/blogs/behold/2012/10/11/the_photographs_of_frank_hurley_shackleton_s_antarctic_expedition_gone_wrong.html
  12. If you want predictability, love soccer. The Cardinals are a testament to the value of bullet proof bullpens (especially high strike out relievers), good defense and avoiding outs in the playoffs. That's pretty much the magic postseason formula. Get in, and have those three things happen. You can throw 2006 out. That was an absolute crazy fluke. That team was hot garbage.
  13. The thing about why Klinsmann legitimately needs to go is that when the mediocre results came early, there was a hope that he was implementing something new and that eventually it might click and pay off. Instead he's just gotten more conservative and abandoned our strengths. The " national identity" he wouldn't shut up about when he got hired of athletc, fast paced soccer has been replaced by slow, clogging midfield passing. Not to mention the inherent hypocrisy of selling the idea of a unique American style and then calling in a bunch German-developed players.
  14. These ass wipes are gushing about EJ like we're playing Mexico. THIS IS ANTIGUA-BARBUDA. These goals are expected, not revelatory.
  15. You sand baggin sonuvabitch, you!
  16. Fat guy can ball!
  17. A draw against a Sandals resort staff will really teach Jozy his lesson! Jurgen really showed him!
  18. Pretty telling that he's helmed some of our most unprecedentedly good and bad results. No flexibility or creativity. It either fails or succeeds.
  19. Alan Gordon is apparently Zlatan Ibrahimovic according to these idiots.
  20. Why is this all a referendum on the strikers with these two bozos? 1 goal on 4 shots for Jozy is all about Klinsmann and his dumb system.
  21. Dempsey just SCREAMED at Zusi. F bombed him.
  22. Balboa just said "Jeremy Jones" is warming up.
  23. "It's weird how all of our strikers are lazy and disappear!" -this broadcast team Uh...service?
  24. We're not a World Cup team if we don't win by at least 2 on these bums. Bein Sport's coverage and analysis is a disgrace. This hot chick is standing in a monsoon giving nothing but trivia and no one is going to mention how bad a job Klinsy does against teams we should kill.
