  1. http://jozyaltidore.com/news_media/breaking-news-altidore-heading-back-to-epl-gets-transfer-to-sunderland/ Jozy's site reporting.
  2. I'm glad he's going somewhere I can a) watch him on the reg, b) the manager really, really wanted him. Not a striker. Not an attacker. Him, specifically.
  3. This will eventually force out Thibs and probably cause more doubt in Roses head. I'm not sure Forman has a long term plan. It's interesting to sit back and watch other GMs maneuver. the long-term plan is obvious. they are basically on record saying that they know they need another star to go with rose. they have assets to make it happen in the next couple years, they're just hoping one becomes available and actually wants to play here. they'll have deng (with value as a player and as an expiring) or the cap space they get from him. they'll have the increasingly valuable charlotte pick. they'll probably have another asset in noah and his suddenly good contract. when a guy like love becomes available, the bulls should have enough to make a trade happen. then, on top of this, they still have mirotic. Yep. Their long term plan is perfectly sound. It's the best course of action. It just doesn't fit into Thibs' win every game philosophy. That's where the friction comes from. The front office is playing the long game and Thibs thinks they're closer to a championship than the front office does.
  4. What on earth does K's ambition have to do with Brad Stevens' ambition? One took the job, one didn't. They have nothing to do with each other.
  5. Lol, illiniguy. Anyway, peace out, Rajon.
  6. http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/10521716.Alkmaar_tell_Sunderland_to_up___5m_Jozy_bid/ 5mil pound bid rejected by AZ. Looking for 8.
  7. Our front office - strong in the draft. Specifically mid to late round value picks. Terrible at dealing with coaching philosophy differences. Terrible at managing players with injuries. So essentially, I think they're great basketball minds who are just douche b's.
  8. Sounds like a done deal. http://www.noshortcorners.com/2013/07/jozy-jozy-jozy-all-i-ever-hear-about-is.html That would be about $1.6 mil more than Villareal paid for him from NYRB. AZ got him on a free. Tidy biz.
  9. 6 million Euro was the initial offer that is rumored to have been rejected.
  10. If I hear/read one more English football wonk talk about how 19 year old Jozy didn't impress at Hull, a team who's style of play and quality of service can generously be described as a steaming pile of elephant [expletive] and that he'll have a tough time displacing Steven Fletcher as the first choice striker based on those performances, I'm going to die of laughter.
  11. I think he'll do fine wherever he goes. I think we're past that point with him where we should be concerned about finding a style that suits his development. Sunderland plays fine soccer. They'll get him decent enough service. I'm just glad to be able to see him week in and week out.
  12. http://www.noshortcorners.com/2013/07/look-out-broken-clock-theyre-gaining-on.html?m=1 Sunderland submitted a formal offer for Jozy.
  13. They seem to be swimming in deeper waters than that. Didn't post the whole thing. The article mentions Sunderland is the known team that isn't out in front. I misread it. This actually isn't the case. Sunderland could be the team.

  16. Paulinho to Spurs is final. HUGE upgrade to Sandro/Scott Parker/Tom Huddlestone. He was really impressive in the Confed Cup. Spurs might actually be able to string a pass or two together in the MF.
  17. It'd be fun to see Arsenal follow through and get Fellaini, Fabregas and a real striker.
  18. Thoughts and prayers go out to Carlos Bocanegra who has joines Chivas USA.
  19. The extreme disparity of the celebrations inside the stadium and the increasingly violent protests outside are making this one of the most unique and strange games I've ever seen. The fans inside are treating this final like its the World Cup final. An outsized jubilation and celebration of this team. Outside people are tossing molotovs.
  20. Intriguing, you guys. Intriguing.
  21. Yes. I know a lot of fans think the Bulls should trade the pick--and they can if they get good value, but some people are fine trading it for average players that won't change anything. I am completely fine waiting this thing out with the confidence that the Bobcats will continue to be terrible and hoping for a top pick in the future. That is the the kind of thing that can completely change a franchise... not some trade for Jason Thompson. Well, all they have to do is suck next year, get Andrew Wiggins and maybe that pick isn't so valuable. Not trading it for immediate value is a gamble.
  22. Tony Snell Whoever that is.
  23. No way we don't draft Plumlee.
  24. Larkin looks 16.
