  1. Someone had to take Podsednik's roster spot at Charlotte. And Ward and Podsednik are almost the same player, right?
  2. Radio call: http://home.comcast.net/~bcvm22/cubs/512009.mp3
  3. Gimme a bit. Ron shouted "OHHHHHHHHHHHH YES!" in the background, it's just that between the insane crowd noise and Ron's shouting volume and pitch, he was hard to hear. :-))
  4. I'll go ahead and make the first "young kid with a 9.82 ERA just up from the minors = 8 scoreless innings" post. ... Don't look at me like that. You were all thinking it.
  5. As I understand it, since they didn't know this morning whether Ramirez would end up on the DL or not, the Cubs had Scales in Chicago and in uniform, which is smart enough: if Ramirez ended up on the DL, his replacement would have already been in Chicago. It so happened that they opted not to disable Ramirez and thus Scales was sent back to Iowa. So he was at Wrigley and in uniform and was only an unfavorable MRI on Ramirez's calf away from being added to the roster, but it wasn't to be. Poor guy.
  6. I'm glad I didn't have the radio on. Hearing Ron after losses like these makes me want to alternatively cry and hang myself.
  7. The best I can offer is taking the dark, angry rage and deep, deep disappointment spewing forth in some sort of unholy murk and finger paint words from it. BULLPEN... WALKS... BAD OFFENSE... CAN'T... HIT I HATE THE [expletive] [expletive] [expletive] [expletive] mother [expletive] son of a [expletive]ing [expletive] Marlins You don't know how much I had to cough up to have enough to fingerpaint the last point there.

  9. God they suck. It's 2006 except Derrek Lee's not injured. He's contributing about as much as he did when the wrist was broken, though.
  10. Lou grabbing a bat in the dugout. :-)) Cubs going to lose. :(
  11. Apparently Scales was at Wrigley and in uniform before they told him they wouldn't need him and sent him back to Iowa. So close yet so far. :-))
  12. I predict run-scoring hits by Marlins players with no business doing such things prove to be our downfall, the Cubs lose a tough one and we all go stark raving mad.

  14. He'll be reevaluated upon their return to Chicago tonight/tomorrow. I wager if they put him through the paces tomorrow and determine he won't be able to play this weekend or very soon thereafter, he'll be disabled and Bobby Scales put on a plane to Chicago.
  15. I feel like this would result in the sci-fi trope of a character traveling to the future only to find the world in a ravaged, post-apocalyptic state when he arrives there.
  16. When have the Cubs ever played well enough against Florida to sweep a four-game series against them?
  17. This feels more and more like 2005/2006 with every game.
