I don't see that unfolding that way. And 47.5 Million for 5 years? Doesn't sound like the Cubs style. I would predict a more 3-4 year deal. But the line i like the most in that article: "Other free agents: Neifi Perez (Cubs), Rich Aurilia (Reds), Abraham Nunez (Cardinals), Royce Clayton (Diamondbacks), Alex Gonzalez (Devil Rays), Jose Hernandez (Indians), Pokey Reese (Mariners), Jose Vizcaino (Astros), Desi Relaford (Blue Jays), Ramon Martinez (Phillies), Lou Merloni (Angels), Alfredo Amezaga (Pirates), Rey Sanchez (Yankees), Manny Alexander (Padres), Rey Ordonez (FA) The first four players here are the most likely to be regulars next season. Perez will probably get a two-year deal. Nunez is also a candidate for a multiyear pact, based on his fine showing as Scott Rolen’s replacement. Still, Aurilia could be the best bet here for 2006." Glad to hear someone think Neifi will stick with his previous talk about being a starter and not accept a bench role with the cubs. And if Hendry is insane enough to promise him a starting job at second...well, no need to hijack this thread more.
