  1. Lets be fair, Cox just brought in his closer...great decision since he has to go thourgh Hardy, Braun and Fielder. They arent just going through the motions.
  2. I just can't see Hunter waiving his no trade clause to come here because of the brick walls in the outfield.
  3. I equate that to a train wreck...it's horrifying, yet you can't look away. And on that note, Go Len...He was being a good sport about the whole thing, and who else can say their announcer did that?
  4. For a second there i thought they said Izturus was going to pinch hit. Needless to say, i almost just fired my laptop into the wall.
  5. Good quick at bat...lets keep the pitches to a minimum
  6. That's about all I would do on that list. You don't eat breakfast or dinner? I think the better question is how is he typing this if he doesnt wake up?
  7. Yeah mine is also...starting to get very annoying.
  8. Oh please, next your gonna say that the cubs wont win a world series for 100 years in a row...
  9. Wow, Marquis, find the part of the strike zone that isn't over the dead center of the plate. Can we switch yesterday and todays pitching performance?
  10. Oh this is a great start...Least i have class in an hour.
  11. Some could say Izturis and DeRosa were our hottest hitters to start the season. With the way Ramirez and Lee have been hitting, I think you have to add them to that group too, which makes it slightly less sad. Only slightly though
  12. When Asumus and Evertt are your hottest hitters, you know your offense has had a problem
  13. Based off Lou's comments, it makes sense to me why Murton isn't starting this game. And it still sounds like Murton is going to start a bunch.
  14. 2 pm works for me
  15. Im game....Just joined.
  16. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2769361 "PHOENIX -- Miguel Cabrera became the first player to win in salary arbitration this year when the Florida Marlins' All-Star third baseman was awarded a $7.4 million salary on Saturday instead of the team's offer of $6.7 million." No surprise there.
  17. I wonder if we can get a group rate on pitch forks?
  18. Hey if we have to have two Cubs on the DL, might as well be them. I mean, it could be worse, it could be Prior, Wood, Miller or Lee on there. Oh wait... :(
  19. Pujols played SS in JC, and naturally didn't scout very well there. Didn't have the arm, the speed, or the quickness. Like a lot of guys, he was a prospect with no clear defensive position ahead of him, and basically scored badly on three of the five scouting tools (speed, defense, throwing arm). Still does, more or less. But if you can hit like Pujols, the hitting tool trumps all..... You basicaly nailed it however I would also like to add their were concerns about his weight and true age. He also had some weak battng sessions with scouts. i scout i talked to say he had scouted Pujols when he was in college. According to him, he was nothing like what he is now and he past up on him. Needless to say, i think he regreted it.
  20. Someone posted a Stark tidbit that they are worried that Roberts won't be healthy(elbow?). Yes, Jayson Stark mentioned this first. Apparently, the Orioles fear that Roberts recovery from a dislocated elbow will be slow. A dislocated elbow is tough. I dislocated mine once. Getting it popped back in to place was the worst pain I've ever felt. Two guys held my should while another doctor grabbed my hand and jerked as hard as he could. On about the 15th yank it finally popped back into place. I immediately passed out. It was a very long time before I could straighten my arm out. That was about 5 yrs. ago and it still bothers me. I can dislocate both my shoulders at will. No pain at all. I dislocated a shoulder once too, but it went back into place on its own. It didn't hurt bad. Me thinks should and elbow dislocation may not be synonymous. I've known others that have popped their shoulder out of place without a lot of pain. I've dislocated an elbow...twice. Worst Pain Ever. I still to this day shudder every time i think about it.
  21. I nominate anyone from NSBB. I nominate all of NSBB...first GM position decided by the internet.
  22. I don't see that unfolding that way. And 47.5 Million for 5 years? Doesn't sound like the Cubs style. I would predict a more 3-4 year deal. But the line i like the most in that article: "Other free agents: Neifi Perez (Cubs), Rich Aurilia (Reds), Abraham Nunez (Cardinals), Royce Clayton (Diamondbacks), Alex Gonzalez (Devil Rays), Jose Hernandez (Indians), Pokey Reese (Mariners), Jose Vizcaino (Astros), Desi Relaford (Blue Jays), Ramon Martinez (Phillies), Lou Merloni (Angels), Alfredo Amezaga (Pirates), Rey Sanchez (Yankees), Manny Alexander (Padres), Rey Ordonez (FA) The first four players here are the most likely to be regulars next season. Perez will probably get a two-year deal. Nunez is also a candidate for a multiyear pact, based on his fine showing as Scott Rolen’s replacement. Still, Aurilia could be the best bet here for 2006." Glad to hear someone think Neifi will stick with his previous talk about being a starter and not accept a bench role with the cubs. And if Hendry is insane enough to promise him a starting job at second...well, no need to hijack this thread more.
  23. Worst defensive team ever? Well if that is the goal then we can trade wilkerson and whoever the heck the red sox want and put Manny on the team. Now that is a bad defensive team.... Also, does Dunn make that much that after signing for Giles (10-11 mil) and trading for Wilkerson (4 Mil i think) that we are out of flexibility financially? I was hoping that would leave us some money left over for atleast one more big signing since the only real signing (and hence big expensive deal) would be Giles (unless i am wrong and Dunn makes over 4 mill).
