  1. As of right now, Zambrano and Lilly are scheduled to pitch the last two regular season games of the year. If the Cubs somehow clinch before then, do you think they will sit both Z and Lilly to give them some extra rest?
  2. So did most of the people that got tickets take the multiple windows/waiting rooms approach?
  3. Hey everybody, I was just wondering what you guys think of Haren lately. Should he be avoided? I'm in the championship in one of my leagues and have to decide whether or not I should start him tonight and for the rest of the season. He has been pretty bad lately and I'm about 50/50 on sitting/starting him. Thanks for the help.
  4. Lineup: Soriano Fontenot Lee Floyd Ramirez Kendall Jones Theriot Trachsel
  5. Don't know if anyone has posted this yet but ESPN 1000 just reported that Z has called a pregame press conference to apologize for his statements yesterday.
  6. With Kendall day to day, any chance Soto gets the start tonight?
  7. Quick Question: How can you have a higher average than OBP?
  8. Quick Question: Which of our young pitchers do you guys think would be comparable to Maholm??? Maybe Marshall??? What I'm getting at is this: Do we really have to make this a 3-way deal. Why not just add an extra prospect on our end and come away with both Jennings and Hawpe? Hawpe is exactly the high OBP, high OPS left handed bat it would seem we are searching for...not to mention the fact that he is young and cheap.
  9. Quick Question: Does Matsuzaka's club absolutely have to accept the highest offer??? For instance, if they somehow thought that a bid of 45 million was never going to reach their pockets could they not move on to what was thought to be a more "sincere" bid?
  10. Hopefully their leaking 21 million and plan on bidding more. Who knows though, we'll find out soon.
  11. We could be out of luck, it appears that the Indians have traded Ben Broussard to Seattle for Shin-Soo Choo and a PTBNL. http://cleveland.indians.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20060726&content_id=1576695&vkey=news_cle&fext=.jsp&c_id=cle
  12. It looks like it actually was Len Kasper on the message board. Check out his blog today on the WGN website: http://wgntv.trb.com/sports/custom/weblog/wgnsports/ I don't know who would go about doing it, but I think it would be great if we could get Len over here.
  13. I have no idea if it is true or not, but, there is someone posting on the Cubs.com message board claiming to be Len Kasper. He has been asked some questions to verify that he is, in fact, the one and only Len and has yet to slip up. It could be a great opportunity to get him over here (if it really is him). Just thought I would pass it along in case anyone wanted to give it a look see.
  14. Has anyone seen this quote from Lance Berkman, pretty funny: ''I think (for Bradley) to make it a race issue is ridiculous,'' Berkman said. ''J.K. doesn't discriminate against anybody. He ignores Latinos, blacks and whites equally.''
  15. In his latest article, Peter Gammons mentions a number of the players that made it through waivers. For the Cubs, Hollandsworth and Walker got through. Gammons mentioned both as being very attractive if the Cubs continue to slide. Players that were claimed and brought back from waivers included Rusch, Patterson, and Neifi. Personally, I would like to see us get something for Hollandsworth.

  17. The other day, I was reading an article where Omar Vizquel defends his belief of sliding into first base. I have never understood why players do it but, Vizquel did make an interesting argument. He compared it to infielders or outfielders making a diving play on a ground/fly ball. In many cases, a dive in the field is performed in order to allow oneself to stop and make a quicker transition into throwing the baseball. However, many times it actually does seem like the only way and the quickest way to get to a ball is to dive for it. If this is the case, then Vizquel's argument does make some sense (A player diving to intercept a ball at a fixed point = a player diving to reach a base which is also a fixed point). This has been confusing me for a few days now so if anyone has any insight, post away.
  18. I'm pretty sure this is what I heard on the Score: Lawton Walker Lee Ramirez Burnitz Garciaparra Barrett Patterson Williams
  19. I would get rid of Maddux, but like someone else said, we still still have to pay his contract if we DFA him. Being classy does NOT win championships. Look at the Red Sox. Designating Maddux for assignment just so he can't reach his incentives is ridiculous. That type of move would send the completely wrong message to possible free agents across the league. Letting Maddux go the first time made the Cubs look like idiots...designating him for assignment this time would make the Cubs look plain bush league.
  20. Per ESPN 1000 and Bruce Levine, Kerry Wood has been put on the 15 day DL and will work out of the bullpen when he returns. This definitely could fuel Hoops idea of the Cubs trading for a starter (depending on Hill's sucess).
  21. Has anyone heard anything yet about who the Cubs might start tomorrow??? I'm still hoping we get to see Rich Hill get a shot but who knows.
  22. Here's the whole Sun-Times version of the rumor. Thankfully, it sounds like the Cubs are willing to part with Rich Hill. Another rumor making the rounds is that the Cubs might be willing to trade outfielder Jason Dubois and pitcher Rich Hill for Tampa Bay Devil Rays outfielder Aubrey Huff. The Cubs don't like Huff's defense and wouldn't want to downgrade in that area. Plus, Hill has a bright future in the organization. They aren't about to let another home-grown left-hander go unless the return is much greater than Huff. After all, they haven't forgotten about trading another developing left-hander named Dontrelle Willis. Also good news on the Preston Wilson front: The Cubs continue to talk with the Colorado Rockies about outfielder Preston Wilson, but no offers have been made and indications are that nothing is close to being agreed upon. As for speculation that Cubs rookie shortstop Ronny Cedeno would be part of any Wilson deal, that isn't going to happen. Pitchers Todd Wellemeyer and Sergio Mitre figure to be available for the right price, but Hendry isn't going to trade either for a player such as Wilson, who could leave after this season as a free agent. If Wilson has a short-term future in Chicago, O'Dowd can expect short-term material in exchange.
  23. From Sportsline.com via The Chicago Sun-Times: Are the Devil Rays closing in a deal that would send young slugger Aubrey Huff to the Cubs? The Chicago Sun-Times says a potential deal would see OF Jason Dubois and P Rich Hill head the other way.
