maybe it hurt your brain to make up something so idiotic. thats not how dusty thinks The theory would certainly justify his choice of pinch hitters and spot starters. I'm just looking at it from every angle even though the real reason for his decisions is one of the following: 1) Dusty is an idiot 2) The only stat that matters to Dusty for a bench player is Years Old 3) 2 kind of goes back to 1...Dusty is an idiot Well last year when Sammy went down, why didnt he chose Goodwin to start instead of Holly? Goodwin had the lower OBP so by your stupid logic of Dustys moves he would have started Goodwin. Way to use one instance to try to prove your point. Why is everyone so sample size stupid these days, its really getting annoying. You're right, I should eliminate option 2 and stick with "Dusty is an idiot." yup you're right, some one is an idiot

this thread has taken a turn for the hilarious first of all, the phrase DUSTY BUSTING is the most ridiculous thing i've ever heard. it's childish, stupid, and utterly ridiculous. any attempts to take any argument seriously with that phrase is impossible. with that out of the way, Neifi didn't do a bleeping thing today. he got a single and bunted corey over. the cubs lost 1-0. if you honestly believe that playing Perez over Hairston gave us a better chance to win today, you must be out of your mind. ZZ, your argument really is ridiculous. the fact that you mention players tiring is totally absurd. i mean... c'mon. Hairston has started one game this year. this injury to Walker is the reason we have Hairston on the team, and we just waste him on the bench. there is not one aspect of the game that Perez performs better then Hairston in. i mean, we lost 1-0. maybe hairston can hit a solo home run, or hit a gapper and get something going. sure, perez could do that too, but you can't possibly argue that perez is more likely to do one of those things then hairston. i have no problem with giving Baker credit for somethig he's done, because i have nothing to gain by not giving him credit. it's not like my opinion has any bearing on what the Cubs' management thinks, so i have nothing to gain from being dishonest. all i want is whatever's best for the cubs, because i want them to win. but here's my honest belief about Baker: he sucks. he's done some good things, but he's also done a bunch of horrible things, as we all can attest. the fact that Perez and Macias are even taking up two rosters spots in Hendry's fault, but in this situation, Hairston SHOULD BE PLAYING. argh. also, i would like to help you add to your list of people who are also more successful than me, have had better gals than me, and will likely go down in the history books for something, and i have no problem with it: Dusty Baker The Ultimate Warrior Ronald Reagan Steven Spielberg Jesus Roast the D--- Goat True story, I was talking about the Ultimate Warrior at work the other day, and some guy in there mentioned that he was dead. The guy sounded legit, like a real wrestling know-it-all (nerd) so I took his word for it. Until today, when I looked the Ultimate Warrior (or Warrior, as he now likes to be called apparently) and I discovered that he is an extreme right wing racist. Weird huh? Link? I totally thought he was dead too. I was a huge Ultimate Warrior fan, of course I was 5. nevermind, saw that sonic mentioned somethingawful

Starting a guy who was 6/21 against the starter isn't exactly a great matchup to play, especially considering how much worse Perez is than Hairston at hitting RH pitching. You aren't gonna get many better matchups than 824 OPS, so if he shouldnt start today then he probably shouldnt start a single game during the season. Ideally I'd have him start 5 games a season with no injuries, 8 games a season if Walker is out for a month and thats the extent of our injuries.

The first and only. Unbelieveable... I don't understand why that Macias was the first PH over Dubois or Hairston. Sure Macias may have "experience" But in all seriousness, Macias can't even hit worth a darn to save his life. You know this, I know this. So why has JH and Dusty haven't figured this out yet? It's sad. I honestly feel that Hairston and/or Dubois would give us a better chance of winning/tying the game than Macias. Macias and Perez are both in the mid 30's respectively, but it seems logical that they have peeked on their abilities. Hairston and Dubois are both in the mid 20's, and I feel that they both still have more room to improve their abilities, where their talent are already far superior than Macias for sure. If I was managing, I would rather have those 2 playing instead of Macias and Perez, becuase not only we are trying to field the best team on the field, we are also trying to help them become better in the future, especially giving Dubois some playing time. The only way they'll gain experience is to let them play. So let them play. I don't mind Macias being the first PH if he is saving a better pinch hitter for a better situation later in the game. However, today was not the time. The PH snafu was much worse than starting Neifi.

I really don't have a problem as long as Dusty plays Hairston the majority of the time in Walker's absense. We rip on Dusty when he doesn't play matchups and then we rip on him when he does. I'm fine with every once in a while sitting the better player for the matchup especially when it doesn't hurt get the bench som ABs. Now if Dusty starts Macias tomorrow because hes OPSing 2500 against Peavy in 2 ABs we all have something to get pissed about. Pinch hitting Macias in clearly a power spot is alot bigger problem.

whats the longest thread in NSBB history?

I think we should judge Baker on who he puts out there day in day out in Walker's absense. Look around the league, most managers are at the point in the season where they are trying to get their 23rd, 24th, 25th guy a start to keep them from losing what they had going during ST. As long as this is a lone Neifi start, I am fine with it.

Ticket Successes and Failures Thread

Well, they might. As Serena said, definitely have him call up the Cubs and arrange them to be under your name. If you want to pick up all of the tickets tomorrow, you may also want to get your Dad to make a photocopy of his driver's license and credit card for you. But ask the Cubs and see what they have to say first. I don't have to pick up all of the tickets tomorrow, in fact I'd rather just pick up tomorrows game so I don't have to worry about carrying the other tickets around all day, is that possible? That would probably solve my worrying about getting my tickets cancelled, right? -

Your Dad can call the ticket office and put the tickets in your name for pickup. Make sure he has the credit card info and confirmation number for the tickets before he calls. You should then be able to pick them up with just your id. And I can pick up all of the tickets I bought on his credit card and all of the tickets I bought on my credit card all at the same time right? They aren't going to have a problem with having 84 tickets under my name, are they? -

URGENT!!! I just realized that my bleacher tix at will call for tomorrows game are under my Dad's credit card! What are my options?!?! 1)I can just use my ID, they will be cool with that. 2)I can have my Dad call up the box office and have the tickets changed to my name. But I maxed out tickets on my credit card under my name, will I run the risk of anything being cancelled? 3)I get my Dad's ID and credit card and bring it with mine and they will be cool with that. 4)I tell them my Dad recently passed away and I am here to pick up his tickets. Not at all advserse to #4 and it will probably take the least amount of effort on my part. #3 will be a big pain. Anyone have any insight? -

Ticket Successes and Failures Thread
nilodnayr replied to Southpaw191679666239's topic in Chicago Cubs Talk
That's the first year that the Cubs are using it and for now, it's only for bleacher tickets. The Cubs/tickets.com will email or open up a link to a picture file of the tickets for the people who chose this method. They then download and print the images, which includes a barcode. Those sheets of paper are scanned at the bleacher gate just like regular tickets. Of course, you don't want that picture file to fall into the wrong hands, as the first barcode that is scanned will be accepted. If someone else got a hold of that somehow (like they had access to your computer) and tried to enter the bleachers before you, you'd be out of luck. Any chance I can get those changed to will call too? For some reason I didn't think I could pick up the will call tix until near the game which would be a pain. -

So I could pick up all the games at will call on march 15? How does the payments work out, do they credit my cc? This could be worth many many old styles. Yeah, you can pick up all of the games at will call starting March 15th. There's no price difference, though. Both standard mail and will call officially don't have a delivery fee. Rather, they have a $3.00 "order processing" fee (it was $2.50 last year, I believe). Ahh, then what was that "tickets at home" thing that was $2.50? -

They may have stopped selling them, but for all the people that had them, of course we would get to keep ours. Yeah, the stopped selling those to new season ticket seekers in 2003 because the demand for season tickets was so high. Bastards!! Although I did create my own night and weekend bleacher package yesterday so I shouldn't be complaining. After all my work yesterday, now I feel I can brag about what I got...not sure if this is a complete list as I am still trying to track down everything I bought for myself. Hopefully we can get a tickets exchange out here, because some of these may become available. The only game I wanted but didn't get was June 13-FLA. But if anyone has any on here they should push them vance's way...maybe I could facilitate a 3 way trade so Vance can get tix.
